Orwell would be proud. A scumbag dictator takes several hostages, eventually releases them as a gift after their propaganda value is used up ... and the world will point to this to show how reasonable he is! Then, as a final insult to injury, he questions why Brit babe Turney isn't home covered in black waiting to be beaten should she transgress.
In a reference to Mrs Turney, Mr Ahmadinejad said: "How can you justify seeing a mother away from her home, her children. Why don't they respect the values of families in the West?"
Prediction: Watch the Left ignore the substance and eat this crap up. They must also consume a lot of popcorn with their make believe view of politics these days.

Behind the scenes, someone scared the crap out of Ahmadinejad.
For now, it's all about everyone saving face. In the end, though, in order to save face, someone has to lose it. It will be interesting to watch.....

Hey, Phoenix! How's it going? Nice, cool, sunny day in Texas. Which means I have to mow the yard later on this afternoon. Dammit!

I wonder what the British said to them. I mean this falls within Blair's 48 hours time limit doesn't it?
Maybe they told him that we would just wipe out their armed forces and then turn their ethnic minorities on them. Wouldn't that be cool.
Posted by: southdakotaboy | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 02:30 PM
It probably wasn't what Britain said or what the US said.
My guess is it was a phone call from Javier Solana of the EU.
Posted by: rolltide | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 02:38 PM
Hmm...and what would Javier have had to say of import, tide? Just curious about your take on it.

Any of you patriots want to give Pelosi credit?

You know Denny Hastert would have been too preoccupied with sweaty adolescents rolling around on a mat to get involved.
Mission Accomplished!

See, tide, it was Polosi who got the British hostages released, not Solana. How Bobby got that from the story he linked to is beyond me, but projection is one of his few strong suits. Being an uneducated clown is the other.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 02:49 PM
Why don't you walk around with your loaded .45 and broadcast to the world that you feel inadequate. Surge on, hero!!
Posted by: BobInStamford | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 02:52 PM
OMG! He released the hostages! Bomb him now! Bomb! Bomb! Bomb! Iran must pay! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~!
Seriously, what sort of sick evil dictator takes 15 seamen hostage for a couple of weeks and then releases them? What a sociopath, eh? I'll take 5 years of torture in Cuba over this vile treatment any day.
Amenidinijadahadahem doesn't have an inch of moral high-ground to stand on. I can't wait till the Republicans totally trounce him in the '08 Presidential election.
Posted by: Zifnab | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:02 PM
"torture in cuba", ziffy? so you admit that castro is running a huge gulag state; manned by a massive secret police apparatus; imprisoning & torturing many thousands of political prisoners? murdering many many many of them?
wow. i didn't think you had the balls to admit that, ziffy. perhaps there's hope for you yet.
you *WERE* referring to **castro's** "torture" system/machine, right?
Posted by: bloodrage bob | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:07 PM
Castro, Bush... it all blurs together after a while. But yeah, I'll admit to all of that.
Posted by: Zifnab | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:09 PM
Hahahahah to Bob in Stamford. In STAMFORD?? Holy crap, can the IQ level being any lower per capita than in Stamford??
What's you smokin' up there Bob? Do you honestly believe Nancy "House Grandma" Pelosi had anything to do with those British turncoats getting released (one sailor stated to the Iran's AchmedImanutjob, "thank you for your FORGIVENESS"...WTF?).
It's obvious to this observer that Iran is contributing in it's own clever way to the Democratic Presidential and Pelosi re-election campaigns for 2008!!
Posted by: okie | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:10 PM
amazing news, folks: zifnab has acknowledged that communist cuba, run as a fiefdom by longtime dictator fidel castro, is a police state that routinely imprisons/tortures/kills *its own citizens* in order to maintain its brutal grip on power.
(tips hat to zifnab.)
my sincerest compliments to zifnab. didn't think you'd do that, ziffy. my compliments: the path to truth is paved with intellectual honesty.

"can the IQ level being any lower per capita than in Stamford??"
I'm sure the rednecks in McKinney are brilliant.
Posted by: BobinStamford | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:18 PM
Well I guess you non-doves are disappointed they are being released. That is just too peaceful isnt it? And yes anyone who talks about "family values" is trying to pick your pocket. A la Dan Quayle.

"Behind the scenes, someone scared the crap out of Ahmadinejad."
I thought that was the point of occupying Iran's eastern and western borders for 4 years.
Posted by: scarshapedstar | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:40 PM
The truth hurts, eh, Bobby. And a clown you are, as you have never added one thing on this blog other than invective. No ideas, no conversing, nothing. Just a clown trying to disrupt. You're a sad, lonely individual. Actually, I just feel pity for you.
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 03:57 PM
I pity those unfortunate children of yours. I can't imagine being raised by such a backward asshat. At least they have that private school education. Surge on!

"I'm sure the rednecks in McKinney are brilliant."
As a matter of fact they are, Bob. Thanks!!!

"I thought that was the point of occupying Iran's eastern and western borders for 4 years."
This just proves that Iranians are not only a bunch of pussies we can kick around with military superiority, but pussies who are reeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow thinkers.
Following that logic, this war is going to be a cakewalk. Why haven't we invaded already.
Posted by: Zifnab | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 04:15 PM
My children would feel pity for you as well, Bobby, as they pity anyone so pent up with hate. Hate on, Bobby!

Let's see, he kidnaps 15 innocents from Iraqi waters and then the leftards applaud him releasing them-just as Dan predicted they would. Quick FYI lefty sub-humans, he should NEVER have kidnapped them in the first place.
Bob in S, you will believe anything. Amanijad depends on the mentally ill losers like you and you have again come through for him. You must have your Gimp suit on too tight again.
Zif, finally realizing he's been out debated by everyone above the age of 5, has decided to be nothing more than a troll.
What's really sad and funny at the same time about this whole thing is that the inbred leftists here scream about the poor "innocents" we're wrongly holding in Gitmo (roll eyes), but not ONE WORD of condemnation about what Amanijad did. The left are traitors who should be deported to Iran.
Posted by: Hard Right | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 04:31 PM
Gimp suit? Is that like the flight suit costume your leader put on? Such a cowardly cheerleader. Stay the course, patriots!!

Yeah, that bastard. He didn't even torture them once. What the hell? Minimum stay in Iran is 444 days, last I checked. Where does he get off being such a prick by giving the British marines up "as a gift"?
We should wipe that smug smile off his face. With nukes.

Solana plans to phone Ahmadinejad
Agencies
Berlin: European Union foreign policy chief, Javier Solana plans to phone Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a bid to resolve the current stand-off over the arrested 15 British sailors who illegally entered Iran's territorial waters on March 23, the online site of the weekly Der Spiegel news magazine reported on Saturday, according to IRNA.
"It has to be resolved. The Iranian leadership has to understand that this is not a bilateral problem but a problem of the EU," said Solana who was attending an informal meeting of the EU's 27 foreign ministers in the north German port city of Bremen.
Iran has made clear that the arrest of the British sailors was a bilateral issue and warned other countries of interfering in the case.
- I have Solana on a Yahoo News alert and have at least 10 emails a day pop up referencing him. He's a very interesting fellow. The EU High Representative. Very well respected in the political circles. He's been to Washington several times to meet with Condi Rice and Kofi Annan and Moon.
- I would list him as someone to watch....

Ziffy, you're sounding more and more like a redneck. Better get out of Texas and into SF quick. Reeducation is in order. You know, if you're not being facetious. You're not being facetious are you, Ziffy?
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 05:28 PM
Then there is the other article: Blair: We Bear Iran No Ill Will
Tony Blair has welcomed the release of the 15 British service personnel from Iran, saying it was a "profound relief" for them and their families. And in a message to the people of Iran he said: "We bear you no ill will."
Which I guess is technically correct.
Posted by: rolltide | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 05:30 PM
Interesting.. the leaders of Iran look more competent than the US leaders... I never thought Mr Bush could look worse than he was.....TOO FUNNY!!!!
Posted by: jakob | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 05:36 PM
I have solid information that Ahmadinejad is one of the assholes from the US hostage crisis in the '80s. Why are we not talking about that? We should gather our evidence and expose him to the world community as a thug and call for his immediate removal. Keep the diplomatic pressure on high.
Posted by: ET | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 05:44 PM
Who the hell are you, wakjob? What does the US have to do with a British hostage crisis?
Another worthless liberal nutcase. Bush is blamed for hurricanes, tsunamis and all manner of international incident.
When you have a shart, do you blame President Bush?

"Such a cowardly cheerleader"
Says mommy's basement dwelling tough guy...when he's behind a keyboard. You know that comment fits you too BIS. Except you cheer for the enemy.
Zif, thanks for proving my point. Basically all you lefties on here have made it clear--you concede we are right and you are wrong. That you've been out debated. Like Rush says, the left loses when it comes to a real debate.
Posted by: Hard Right | Wednesday, April 04, 2007 at 07:46 PM
That's right, put your head in the sand brave hero. Your leader isn't a stuttering former male cheerleader. He's a hero - a "War President". Stay the course and complete the mission. Over and out, hero!!

Bobbi-in-Stamford sure does seem to have an odd homoerotic attraction to President Bush. Hmmm...Hope noted racist/bigot/homophobe Zifknob doesn't catch wind of it, they may have a falling out!...Wait, can one even have a falling out with their sock-puppet? Well, libs are all psychos, so I guess it's possible.

Just to keep the facts straight - Ahmadinejad isn't a dictator; he was elected. And the Iranians didn't "kidnaps innocents"; the Iranian Maritime Border Patrol Guard arrested members of the British Military who the Iranians asserted were repeatedly violating Iranian territorial waters. At best, it was "disputed" waters particularly when you bear in mind that the Royal Marines were siezed closer to Iranian land than Iraqi land and that it was Saddam himself who asserted that bogus maritime line (which untimately resulted in the Iran-Iraq war.

Phoenix! Got that yard mowed, and it's looking good. But it's getting cold outside, so I came in to check on Dan's blog. Top of the evening to you!

"....Ahamdinejad isn't a dictator; he was elected."
Yeah, he was elected in fair, open elections without one hint of intimidation. And noodles believes in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, AND the wicked witch of the East. If she could just find those ruby slippers.

Took the words out of my mouth, TK. Ahmadinejad ELECTED ? oooooooooh yeah..... Right.
Everyday I swear I'm not going to 'play' here, but I can't resist. The ignernce is palpable.
Them ruby slippers is in Kansas - The Land of Ahhh's. :) click clickety click..... Kinda like Bob when he hammers away in Stamford.

Ok Phoenix and Templar, let me in on the lawn mowing joke. I haven't been here long, and I could be misunderstanding you, but I am kind of aroused. Is that weird?
By the way, P -- your Nimitz post says it all. thanks.
Posted by: ET | Thursday, April 05, 2007 at 12:10 AM
ET,
Is it weird that you're aroused by TK and me riding tractors? Nah. I don't know if my Knight rolls around on his freshly mown grass with no clothes on by the light of the silvery moon, but I do. It is extremely arousing. Please join us in our redneck revelry. What it does is remind us that the earth is not flat like we thought. I had to get a big honkin tractor for my hills. And for that, I had to roll up some duct tape to put in the bottom of my cupholder so my brew wouldn't fall out.
I'm not rolling tonight, though, because it's nipple-hardening cold out there! It was in the 80's today and now it's 21 degrees.
Damn global warming. I wish it would make up its mind.

See what happens when a pregnant woman does drugs? You get someone like noodles.
Sorry Lack-of-Noodles but GPS proves they were not in Iranian waters. Iran also gave two different accounts of what happened. "...the Royal Navy personnel were "ambushed" by the Iranian navy while 1.7 nautical miles inside Iraqi territorial waters. The vice admiral said the Iranians had given two different positions for where they claimed the Royal Navy boarding party - seized after they had made a routine boarding of an Indian-flagged dhow suspected of being used to smuggle cars - had been.
He added that the location given by Iran on Saturday for the British personnel was inside Iraqi waters. After this was pointed out to Tehran, Iranian officials provided a second location, around two miles inside Iranian waters, on Monday."
BTW, the Brits were grabbed on what would be ***IRAQI LAND*** DURING LOW TIDE. Yet you think they were in Iranian waters? FYI, Iran doesn't get to claim whatever waters it wants whenever it wants.
Funny, the same type of person who insists neither of W's election wins were legit, thinks Amenijad's "election" was!
Lastly, he believes Iran despite all the evidence that they are lying. Bet "it" thinks that evil American pilot deliberately brought down that Chinese fighter too.
