Awww The Polar Bear population is on the rise, just as I posted yesterday. That's so special. Possibly because we stopped clubbing all those Harp seal pups.

Now the little buggers are being eaten by the Polar Bears. And you liberals don't believe God has a plan.

Polar bear experts said that numbers had increased not because of climate change but due to the efforts of conservationists. The battle to ban the hunting of Harp seal pups has meant the seal population has soared - boosting the bears' food supply.

I stopped eating pork, for the most part, when I found out pigs were smarter than dogs and what hog farms were really like, ya know, cutting the tails off of pigs because in the tiny cages they chew them off.

Nothing wrong with wine, though I suppose if I could determine old growth vs. new growth vineyards especially for CA wine then I might drink those instead...a vineyard is better than a mini mall but not as good as a forest.

The bears cannot take care of themselves, that's the whole point. If bear hunting had not been for the most part outlawed in the 1970s there probably wouldn't be any polar bears.

There are 80 Florida panthers left alive, do you think t hey can take care of themselves too? In reality, its very unlikely that the Florida panther is ever going to recover because its HABITAT has been taken over by residential and commercial development.

I mean I could give you a list of endangered species all across the planet and the reasons why they are endangered in order to refute the moronic idea that the animals can 'take care of themselves' but that probably wouldn't convince you or you might just tell me that god put all the plants and animals on the earth for man to use and so if we use them into extinction its all part of god's plan.

It amuzes and somewhat disgusts me when I read about killing the A-Rabs and how liberals are all hypocritical pedophiles but when something that should be important to everyone is not only ridiculed but lied about, I can only believe that the only people who would support such a viewpoint are total POS.

Kidding aside, there is a happy medium.

YYY's got a good point until it is taken to some of the ridiculous extremes that some folks on the left do, like those ELF terrorists who want to burn down every mini-mall and Hummer dealership.

Likewise, it is good to recognise that our current pattern of razing down ancient forests and gobbling up farmlands for new suburbs/subdivisions isn't exactly a grand idea either.

Personally, I'd like to see us move back more into a "small town" mode of living -- growing and sustaining the bulk of the food supply from within a 30mi. radius of the towns, and basically reversing the trend of the McBigBox McLife™, and embrace "localization".

I'm not all up on the living in mud huts and solar stoves and potato batteries by that, I'm just saying, it might be in our interests to find that "just balance" which is sustainable without making ourselves miserable or kills off species.

At the same time, the excessive "Save the Whales" mindset is equally damaging as the strip miners and the folks in Brazil mowing down the jungle for sugar cane farms; worshipping the creatures rather than the Creator will lead to forgetting about the humans.

It wasn't until France and Great Britian declared war, after Germany invaded Poland, that they turned west and rolled through France nad the rest of Western Europe. I'm not defending the Nazis in any way, nor am I accusing you, seekeronos, of being a Nazi but you do realise that without a huge drop in human population those laconic small town days areover. Current population levels require corporate farming and large scale livestock ranching. It's alway sad to see a part of history pass but there are 7 billion people on this planet and humans are the dominat species.Even if you're not religious that is a scientific fact. Yeah indivdual humans can be taken out by many animals(Steve Erwin anyone?) but many animals adapt to humans presence and thrive with human intervention. The caribou in Alaska are most abundant near the Pipeline, due to the warmer tempretures from heating the pipeline so the oil won't freeze the grass stays uncoverd longer helping youngr caribou strengthen up for the long winters. Ans where you have more caibou you have more preadators (polar bears, wolves) and it also helps smaler animals too like mice, voles, bunnys,artic foxes, snow owls, eagles. Those animals that can't adapt to changing environments are doomed to die out. If some dumb bird can't figure out to build it's nest a mile or so away then that was an unsuccesful muatation. There was something in it's evolution that made it vulnerable and resistant to change and so it goes the way of the dinosaur. Old species die out and new ones develop, evolution is not static.
