I get the concept but am still at a loss how this AP article could be headlined this way given that the video is so bad, you can't even tell there was an actual shooting:
They seem to be as quick on the trigger as was, allegedly, the border agent.
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A grainy surveillance video taken as a Border Patrol agent fatally shot an illegal immigrant appears to lend credence to the surviving immigrants' accounts of what happened.
The Cochise County attorney released the video clips and documents this week after public records requests by The Associated Press and two newspapers. The shooting has drawn condemnation from the Mexican government and spurred an FBI civil rights investigation.
Evidently there are items in the video matching pieces of the illegal immigrants story. Fine. But how can any worthwhile conclusions be drawn given this:
The video, taken from a camera mounted on a tower about two miles away, lacks the clarity to distinguish details, including the shooting.
There was a confrontation but until, hopefully, the FBI delivers an enhanced version, you can't even see one man shooting another? It's hard to accept this video as confirming anything unless a better version is produced. The FBI is working on that now.
The witnesses said the agent came from behind the victim, and the video appears to support that version.
One clip shows Corbett's Border Patrol vehicle driving up to a small group of people and circling around them. The agent then opens the door and emerges from behind his SUV, running toward the group, bunched near his rear bumper.
He then appears to have contact with one person.
Within seconds, Corbett apparently pushed one of the immigrants, Francisco Javier Dominguez Rivera, toward the ground and shot him, authorities said.
The FBI is trying to enhance the tape. County Attorney Ed Rheinheimer said he is awaiting results of the FBI's investigation before deciding whether to charge Corbett.

What? Immigration offical running an immigrant down from behind and shooting him? What's wrong with that? The immigrant was breaking the law.
Immigrants and Democrats should all be shot and/or hung on sight. Republicans, especially those who break the law, should get medals. This is America, guys. Come on.

"hung on sight"
More eliminationist rhetoric from the Left, as usual. A good conservative would never embrace such a thing, without a fair trial.

Well after the spat of recent attacks on our border agents by both illegal immigrants and our own federal prosecutors, I won't belive this guy is guilty unless he stands up and confesses.

"Both Pelosi and Reid should be charged, tried by military tribunal and, if convicted, publicly hung."
Those were your words, not mine, Dan. You basically said they should be charged with an unnamed crime in a military tribunal rather than a civil court and hung - a sentence we did away with decades ago.
I'm not sure how "military tribunal" translates to "fair trial", but in a conservative's mind, who can say?
I just assume you'll be rolling these model legal standards over to immigrants if you're so quick to use them on Democrats.

"an unnamed crime "
Ziffy, just put down the glue bag and walk away. I said "treason." You're very dumb, anyone ever tell you that? Oh, nevermind, I'm sure you hear it all the time.

I said "treason."
Treason for what, Dan? Did they sell classified information? Assassinate US officals? Reveal an undercover CIA agent?
You might as well charge them with "murder" or "tax evasion" or "animal abuse".

Leave it to the AP to suggest the agent is guilty. That video is a joke. I'll presume the agent innocent-something Zif cannot do it seems. Zif, you are a raging POS.

Hey Dan,
I found your video on U-Tube

Nice work.

Uh, Ziffy, not immigrants, but illegal aliens. Quite a difference. But don't let semantics get in your way, keep drinking the kool-aid. Sour grape flavor made especially for whiny libs.

It's very simple. We have internationally recognized border crossing points. Anyone who tries to enter at any point other than these is to be fired upon with deadly force.

Zifnab.....i live in Arizona an can tell you illegals are everywhere. The border patrol doesn't have to go to the border to find them. There are pick up areas everywhere where they gather every morning looking for work. Thousands of them and we citizens pay no attention. We know where they live, eat, shop and work. It would take thousands of law enforcement to arrest them and we still would have no place to put them. Deportation is out as a remedy because in one day they are back. So no Zifnab we are not killing anyone, but we shore as hell are hiring them.

Reality 1:
Illegal immigrants come here to work.
If you really want to stop illegal immigration, make hiring an illegal punishable by jail time. Watch those jobs dry right up.
Also notice this is a clear solution you almost never hear of - because lots of big companies make money off of illegal immigrant labor. Especially big agriculture.
So just be aware that any time anyone talks about how bad illegal immigration is, and doesn't suggest jail time for people who hire them or some similar solutions that strike at the root of the problem - those people are jerking your chain.
Reality 2:
Shooting an unarmed human being in the back is a serious thing, that should not be allowed to happen unless that unarmed human being is at that very moment about to harm another human being.

Draegn, you are aware that all but one of the 9/11 hijackers were here legally, right?

I'll wait for the enhanced version (by Johnny Sutton no doubt) of the video to come out before I stake a claim on this shooting.
But suffice to say that if the criminal alien had a rock and wouldn't put it down I'll side with the Border Patrol Agent. If anyone wants to debate the other side of that then I'll pick up a large rock and start smashing your head in until you decide that a rock is a pretty good lethal weapon and beg for a gun to shoot my sorry butt.
I too believe that shutting off all jobs and governmental services to criminal aliens is the quickest way to get stop the flood and get those here to go home. The Bush administration's actions on the border and criminal immigration have been horrible, just about the same as those the Democrats want. I also want a fence though, a big honkin fence with razor wire and armed Border Patrolmen who have permission to shoot on sight anyone who digs under it, climbs over it, or tears it down.

"What? Immigration offical running an immigrant down from behind and shooting him? What's wrong with that?"
Minor point, but immigrants have papers documentation and the blessing of the government to be here. My grandparents were immigrants. Their names are recorded in the Ellis Island records archive.
At this point we don't even know if the victim or someone else in the group had a weapon or was making some sort of threatening gestures as if they had a weapon.

Shootings under ~20' of knife wielders are usually considered legally justifiable. That's about the distance at which one can sprint, lunge, and stick a knife in your chest about the time your gun clears leather and is available for use. Ayoob has argued cases as far as 21' as expert witness and convinced the jury.

I agree that we need to start putting the employeers of illegals in jail. America's young, black male population in this country is in crisis because of a lack of good paying jobs. Now I know that the meat packing industry is hard work and dirty and not very exciting but a good paying job gives a person self respect. Young black men in this country have been driven in to this horrible state of affairs by the libs of this country over the last several generations and it will take many years to break this cycle. If we focused on just a few key industries dominated by illegals we could have a huge impact on both the standard of living for our working poor and the illegal problem.

Have you noticed that two business ex's pleaded guilty for hiring illegals in San Diego. The pay was over 50,000 a year per worker plus health care and paid vacations. Of course these are the jobs Americans don't want. And what do they do, build fences.
