Understanding Liberalism

If you haven't seen it, Ace has an excellent YouTube video posted. Longish but worth it for its insight into the Liberal mindset from a former liberal addressing what makes it so destructive for America.

If you haven't seen this yet, be sure to see it now. This video of Evan Sayet, a writer, lecturer pundit, and former died in the wool New York Jewish liberal Democrat, tells why he is no longer a liberal or a Democrat. He provides a view inside the lib... [Read More]

Wow a 47 minute 'clip' from some asshat talking at the Heritage Foundation. Thats riveting stuff.

LOL You just proved his point. You don't need to learn anything, you already know all you need to know. Sadly, it's all wrong.

"LOL You just proved his point. You don't need to learn anything, you already know all you need to know. Sadly, it's all wrong."

Yeah, we need to be told our own beliefs by someone else who primarily employs bullshit straw men. I was waiting on the edge of my seat for him to give us a hint as to which "liberals" opposed the invasion of Afghanistan. After all, he says he formed his beliefs 2 days after 9/11; Iraq shouldn't have anything to do with this.

Sadly, I was disappointed.

In other news, Jews are often dismissive of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion". What fascists they must be. If only they had the intellectual integrity to examine it more closely.

And our leftists just proved Sayet's point.

So seriously, Dan, I have a question: what color is it in your world?

liberal != conservative
Even a CS major can understand now. See, it's easy.

Holy Hanna Barbera! All the usual lib suspects are in full ignorant voice today! It's just too GD funny that they cannot even see what fools they make of themselves! Ahhhh Dan...I don't know what magic you have that brings out the meta-webnuts but you are THE MAN!!

Dan, just publish vids like this every day and see the libs crash... Every lib comment proved the point... Very nice video, I watched the whole thing, not much new, that hasn't been printed or talked about elsewhere, but cool to see it all in one place.

I do agree with vetter, Dan is the Man. His commentary is the only reason I read this site... Make no mistake, he is one of the up and coming leaders of the Conservative movement.

Thanks for the link, Dan. It needs to get a lot of play, though it's obvious libs won't sit through it. Doesn't matter - the rest of us need a reminder every now and then when we start wondering if we're in some twilight zone of disreality.

Americans are kind of like teenagers getting drunk. When we vote Democratic we are starting to get plastered, everything seems great and as the night wears on the ideas just seem to get better and better. Think "I love you man, I mean that man" " We need to redeploy to Okinawa " "I can fly" "If we leave Iraq the fighting will stop". Then we pass out.
The next mornig we have the hangover, we promise ourselves never to do it again. But eventually we forget how bad the hangover was and do it all again.

Yeah, the whole "We Hate Liberals" campaign is really working out well for you guys:

In 2002, the country was equally divided along partisan lines: 43% identified with the Republican Party or leaned to the GOP, while an identical proportion said they were Democrats. Today, half of the public (50%) either identifies as a Democrat or says they lean to the Democratic Party, compared with 35% who align with the GOP.

When is the last time you saw a pro-life rally descend into someone pulling down his pants and taking a dump on the US flag?

Yet it just happened at one of your anti-war rallies?

So what gives? Is it just a crazed minority like the pro-lifers who haven't been blowing up abortion mills or haven't been attacking baby-killing doctors?

Uh, yeah. I must have missed Michael Moore or the stupid asses at the Huffpo take time out of their day from wishing Tony Snow and Cheney death to condemn it.

Strong, mature, brave.

The left is so dangerous that GW really needs to start opening up prisons for liberals and start deporting muslims pronto.I don't care about political correctness. Our survival is at stake.

"I was waiting on the edge of my seat for him to give us a hint as to which "liberals" opposed the invasion of Afghanistan."

Since the talk largely wasn't about wars, I'd expect you to wait quite a while.

"compared with 35% who align with the GOP."

That number seems off by about 10%

Don't confuse Democrat with Liberal Jon G and don't assume that Republican means NeoCon.

But the fact that liberals are defined by unemployed kids defacating on the flag and chanting anti American slogans is your problem because America is not that way. Actually the fact that Democrats are more and more being defined by the same images will likely lead to big losses for them in 2008 because the great majority of people do not subscribe to what you believe in.

The fact that more than a few of you know that Sayet was talking about you more than proves his point.

This is the liberal's last tango in Paris. Traditional Catholic Hispanic demographics will bury them for good within the next 20 years, and it will be a funeral of their own creation.

That number seems off by about 10%"

I was gonna say.

I'm sure you are talking about the damning LA Times report that spells doom for the GOP... Rasmussen reports that 35.6/100 are Republicans, and 37.7/100 are dems...

Yet Giuliani is crushing Hillary and the Magic Negro.

"Traditional Catholic Hispanic demographics will bury them for good within the next 20 years, and it will be a funeral of their own creation."

I'm not so sure of that. There seems to be a concerted effort by the MEChistas and the other moonbat "Aztlan Independence" groups out there to bring the worst of the Che Geuvara-worshipping socialistas and other rebellion-minded criminal scum from Mexico and OTM into the USA.

I don't think they are representative of the more conservative Catholic Mexicanos of yesteryear.

Yeah, yeah, whatever. All I hear is "I used to be a liberal but ever since 9/11 I'm outraged by Chappaquiddick." The Yoosta Bee routine is so 2004.

"bring the worst of the Che Geuvara-worshipping socialistas"

They're a minority though. Most of that nonsense loses its attraction as a population group moves from 1st generation immigrant poverty to 3rd generation middle class. The numbers I've seen indicate the Hispanics are following an advancement curve very similar to the large volume of European immigrants in the 1800's and early 1900's. Another 10 years or so and the hard core's recruit base will start to burn itself out demographically. The new illegals who came for a job obviously have little interest in it to begin with or they could have stayed home ;->

I used to be liberal but then I graduated from High School .....

Al Gore knows how to talk to his five-year-old fans. "We will put Social Security in a lock box." "The Earth is a baby. The baby has a fever." The Earth is not a baby. The Earth does not have a fever. Say, Al, where do you stick the thermometer to take the baby's temperature?

"The Earth is not a baby."

Don't tell that to George "The jury is still out on evolution (!!)" Bush. He seems to think that the Earth is quite young.

This is kind of lame for you, scar.

"Say, Al, where do you stick the thermometer to take the baby's temperature?"

Well, we have this thing called a thermometer. Basically, you place the thermometer pretty much anywhere and it returns the ambiant tempurature. By aggregating the tempurature (along with a number of other meteorological factors) over a long period of time, one can determine the "climate" of an area.

When the ambiant aggregate tempurature or "climate" tempurature of a region rises, we can refer to the "climate" as warmer than when we first began our measurements. When the "climate" tempurature spikes due to an increase in green house gases (or magical cosmic space rays or God's Unholy Wrath whichever theory you prefer), we can compare this increase to the increased tempurature inside a small child. Such a sharp tempurature increase in a child is typically symptomatic of a "fever". And, although the child's "fever" is caused naturally by the child itself in response to foreign bodies - typically diseases - while a region's "climate" increase in caused by the composition of the atmosphere itself (or God or astroid farts or whatever the new explaination of the month is this time), the analogy still holds in that both the child and the region suffer from a condition which is hostile to life.

In this way, the "child" with a "fevor" can be construed as a very apt metaphor and useful teaching tool in explaining the concept of "climate change" to someone with absolutely no scientific experience or common sense - a Republican Senator, for instance.

It's ironic that the backwoods types have no problem believing scripture word for word, but are so 'afeared' of science. I guess thats why they are where they are.

Wow, great anology, Ziffy, but giving antibiotics to a child with a cold caused by a virus has resulted in considerable problems, as you may or may not know. Because we have done this, we have ruined the effectiveness of quite a few of our finest antibiotics, the ones we need in an emergency.

Now, before we pull the crap that our doctors pulled, namely giving antibiotics to sick children who could not be helped by them, I suggest we hold on for a little bit. After all, these doctors were sure antibiotics would help these children, but time has proven them to be wrong.

I wonder whether some of you environmental doctors know the difference between a virus and a bacteria.

As I've pointed out in the past, the mean temperature of the Earth is a rather gross estimate. Since the measurements began to be recorded, the number of thermometers and the locations where they have been placed has grown significantly. When you want to measure the mean dimensions of an apple, and start with a few apples of the same variety, gradually increasing the number of apples and the variety of apples over time, your measurements change the mean. Horticulture changes also may also change the mean. At some point you get a pretty accurate mean. Temperature measurements of the Earth are far more complex. Altitude, time of day, clouds/sun, forest shade dessert sun, changes in the sun, effects from nearby bodies of water, wins shifts, all this and more factor in to add error to trying to determine whether one day is warmer or cooler to a tenth of a degree C as opposed to one day a hundred years ago. It is a gross measurement, not a highly accurate one. Now what in the heck were you trying to prove, Zif, with your patronizing explication above?

"Wow, great anology, Ziffy, but giving antibiotics to a child with a cold caused by a virus has resulted in considerable problems, as you may or may not know."

Well, giving antibiotics to a child with a virus would get your doctor's license revoked, as antibiotics work on bacteria not viruses, something you learn in High School Biology. Bacteria and viruses are two completely different things - one is an actual organism, the other is not.

But if you know half as much about biology as you do climate change, I suppose I can't argue with you.

"Now what in the heck were you trying to prove, Zif, with your patronizing explication above?"

Perhaps that, as you stated above, the situation is certainly more complex than a simple analogy can encompass in a few hours of Congressional interrogation. However, when explaining climatology, you have to start somewhere. And when explaining it to powerbrokers who run our federal government, sometimes you need to use metaphors that speak to them with some degree of urgency.

The baby metaphor attempts to compare the planet with something everyone recognizes as precious and fragile. When you take your baby to the doctor and he says, "The child is sick", typically the parents will act to heal the child. However, our Congress has choosen to shop around for doctors until they could find a set that says "The child is not sick, or if he is sick, there's nothing you can do." Such imagery is supposed to invoke a common-sense reaction to compel the listener to act with the planet as he would a sick child. But Republicans would rather play word games than deal with the issue at hand, in the same way that they'd rather point and laugh at German animal rights activists than address polar bear populations or polar ice-caps. The patronizing attitude is ment to mock the Republican "jackolope" strategy and bring the conversation back to the issue at hand - namely that the globe is getting warmer and carbon emissions are resonsible for the change.

Seekernos....Living here in Arizona I can tell you the "conservative catholic mexicanos" are alive and well and still coming every day. It takes them about a year to settle in, then send for their family, and in 5 years they are well established. But from the time they arrive they are in church and have a great work ethic.

Liberals are not the ones to be concerned about, they just want a transfer of money from one group to another and have no idea how free enterprise is the true liberal experience. It is the nutty lefties who have no principles or ideas who are the dangerous ones.

The Earth gets warm and the Earth gets cold. The Earth is not a baby. The Earth does not have a fever. Al is talking to his true believers with stunted intellectual development caused by a replacement of thinking with feeling. If the Industrial age of CO2 increase made Earth warmer this time, what made it warm up from the several ice ages? Never mind, Zif, I don't want to waste any more of your time.

Fred, buy a clue and a textbook if you're really interested in the answer to that question. Or just wiki it like normal people.

Ziffy, why don't you answer Fred's question. What caused the Earth to warm up after the ice ages? As far as I know, there is no definitive answer to that question. But it wasn't because people were burning fossil fuels, that's for sure.

Shhhh, Templar! You're using facts! That's not fair!
