I'm not overly worked up about the Senate passing the version of the supplemental they did. An extended debate, or fight could put an ugly Bill on the President's desk with limited time for a new Bill in the face of a veto. Getting it through now leaves plenty of time for Bush to veto the bill, then starts the clock ticking on the Democrats who would be looking at de-funding troops in the field by not offering up a cleaner version.
Given the vote and the Democrat hypocrisy already being exposed, I say call their bluff. Make them put the money where their mouth isn't, but where their constituencies are - in support of the troops.

It will be rather interesting to see what new bill the President proposes to replace his vetoed bill with. Strike this money down now, and the Democrats will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. Bush can bluster all he wants about pork-barrel spending and "listening to the Generals" (wish he would take his own advice on that), but I somehow doubt he'll be waving that veto pen when the $122 billion war supplemental has a chance to shrivel to $0.
Too many war contractors have their eyes on that money to let him turn it down.

Mullah Cimoc say aemriki so destroy now. must finding who tricking ameriki for kill muslim, wasting the national treasure, corruption of usa media.
answer is him israeli spy.

Your nuts if you think he worries about contractors Zifnab. We are facing a threat to our way of life from radical Islam and you seem to think that if we run away it will go away. The sad fact is that one day soon we are going to lose a lot of people right here in the US. These people want us out of the Middle East, they want Isreal gone and they want their view of the world imposed on the world.
Now this is where all the libs say that we are imposing our view on them, and I say who cares. Sit down and list all the positive things and negative things about each culture and see which one is better. If you are at all honest with your self you will see ours is the better way.

the Democrats will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
Now you are quoting bad lines from Star Wars movies? Yeeesh.
He will veto it and the Democrats will have to fund the troops or show their true colors. Which do you think they will be? Honest or craven little weenies? I got money on craven little weenies who wont admit that they would really like to abandon the troops over in a hostile far away place. Bet me.

So, what you're saying is, Bush was before funding the troops before he was against it?

Z,I am the only one allowed Star Wars quotes!!!

Ah, Republicans. So single-minded and quaint. You think this is going to die with a veto? Democrats can keep feeding Bush loaded bills until the end of time. Pelosi and Reid pulled together the votes against an unpopular war once, they can do it again and again and again. It only gets easier the next time around, once the poll numbers come out and the Senators/Congressmen start receiving feedback from their constituencies.
This, kids, is the beginning of the end for the glorious Iraq invasion.

Or, Zif, the surge could sway the momentum our way and the dems will have even more egg on their faces than they do now.

Veto this bill, must Bush do... or forever will the Force be clouded with fear.

Good news, patriots!! You get another year to wrap up your Iraq adventure. Surely after 5 years the goatherders will have been liberated and their hearts and minds won over. Congratulations and surge on!!

Bush will veto a compromised bill and the Iraqis know how much time is left for them to either bring the Sunni into the government or drive them out of the country. We cannot do it for them.
Has anyone seen the TV show about the Kurd section of Iraq. I couldn't believe my eyes. The place was wonderful. Open markets completely stocked, happy people, construction everywhere. My view is one third of the country is in great shape, now it is up to the shia and sunni to figure out how to live with each other. As for our democrat brothers they only care about taking other's money and giving it to who they deem worthy. Iraq means nothing to them, it is only a tool to be used.

I saw that, tk. I was stunned, too. How terrific is that?
Bush just spanked the dems bad.

If you patriots think that the Kurds have a paradise perhaps you should consider moving. Your leader can guarantee your safety for another year. After that, all hell will break loose, but that's your problem. Be brave, heros - move to be with the Kurds!
Posted by: BobinStamford | Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 11:39 AM
Uh, the Kurdish areas were this way before the invasion, staring after the Security Counsel set up the No-fly zone in the north, and the "safe haven" established in 1991. In sum, there is hardly anything "stunning" about the state of this region, unless one has failed to pay attention for the past 15 years. Moreover, the Kurds represent far less than 1/3 of the country; try less than 1/5. But, as the Kurdish regions of Iraq have been largely peaceful since the invasion anyway, discussion of Kurdish prosperity is irrelvant, and actually validates the federalism argument for the future of Iraq, and appropriately redeploying U.S. forces out of Bagdahd, accordingly.
But, you know, the Dems have so much "egg on their faces" (read: overwhelming popular support). GOPers who voted to cut off funding, while "staying the course" will have a fun time over the Easter vacation expaining why they were for supporting the tropps before they were against it.
Sweet.

Justin Whittaker, aka, Legalize, Attorney at Law, graduate of SUNY, Buffalo, NY:
You seem unable to refrain from your past condescension and filth. I knew you couldn't keep up the good front.
"Uh, the Kurdish areas were this way before the invasion,..." <---- Why the 'Uh,...'? Is that grunt to indicate we are all stupid, ignorant morons? If not, why did you use it? You used it with your usual sanctimony.
We can always remind readers of what you really want to do here:
" My interest is in pointing and laughing, not convincing. I learned long ago that goose-steppers on loony winger blogs are incapable of being swayed. You know that I am more than happy to just get you red in the face with rage and frustration every time you try to *get* me on whatever nonsense you are attempting to portray right? You can call me whatever you want; problem is you haven't the capacity to back it up - ever. Now, I know that your little fanboys like Limpy, like in all idiot echo chambers, will chear you on. But they, like you, haven't the prowess to even get from point A to point B.
So, once again: PROVE IT, shrew.
Now,

Sweet, indeed.

I knew a guy who used to live up in Buffalo named Paul Kaffasus. Cool dude, really smart. They make some talented people up there in Buffalo. Shame its a warren of godless liberals who hate our troops and serve their eggs a la face.
Also a shame that we'll be out of Iraq in a year, one way or another. What with Bush not having the balls to veto all his contractor money.
You guys just wait.

Paul Kaffasus?! I used to eat chicken wings with that guy! Well, you know, in between being godless heathens, impregnating women only to force them to get abortions, performing gay marriages on unsuspecting Christian youth, being foul-mouthed (we said the words "FCUK," "FCUKITY," "FCUKER," and "FCUK-head" a lot!), actively practicing Sharia law, and hating the troops.
Posted by: Legalize | Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 01:52 PM
Mighty big words from such a small man, Justin. Keep it up.
By the way - what would you know about impregnating a woman? You have to get a woman first.
