McCain spoke at my daughters college graduation and he was AWFUL! I really expected to like him. He was humourless, boring and didn't even personalize his remarks and be welcoming. We thought we would have gotten the very same speach on CSPAN or on the floor of congress.

McCain is going down like a $5 crack whore.

McCain spent too much of his conservative capital fighting for the rights of terrorists not to be subject to tough questioning. The other side gleefully beheads Christian charity workers and we don't have the stomach for waterboarding?

A good man, on the right side of the issue of liberating Iraq, instead of leading us, he spent too much time currying favor with the left, composed mainly of treasonous idiots who think Bush is the enemy.

In any event, Dan it's important that your readers - rational and left alike, get their daily Surge on - so here's an excerpt from Roggio:

"The Baghdad Security plan continues to show signs of progress. Sectarian murders have been dramatically reduced inside Baghdad, as have the mass casualty suicide attacks which plagued the city on a regular basis. Al Qaeda is still able to conduct suicide and car bomb attacks inside the city, but the effects of these attacks have been dramatically reduced."

Got that leftards? With only 1/5 of Surge troops deployed it's clear the Surge is working.

Oh but we haven't won in four years-fighting against an enemy prepared to fight us for a hundred years.

McCain sold out and he sold out hard. He used to be the apple of the media's eye because he would go balls-to-the-wall with his rhetoric. All Straight-Talk Express. No guff.

I don't know whether the '00 election just broke him or what. Now he's a giant pander bear who makes Hillary's triangulation look tame. Just take a look at his stance on condoms -
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/03/16/mccain-stumbles-on-hiv-prevention/
- ... the man couldn't have less of a coherent policy. He barely has a clue.

Of course, he's still got his eyes on the prize, so I continue to forsee a McCain/Lieberman '08 ticket. Because... they're... centerist... or bipartisan... or something.

"Bush's speaking issues"

Do my eyes deceive me? I thought only the most BDS-addled moonbats dared to insult the common-man dialect of The Commander-in-Chief.

After looking at your Riehl World "blog" me thinks you should start a new blog titled, "3rd Reich World." Your bigotry knows no bounds.

"Your bigotry knows no bounds"

How civilized!

OMIGOD Dan, at a time when America faces the most evil, ruthless and uncompromising enemy it has ever faced you are accused of bigotry because you want the CIC to be tough, resolute and well spoken. Thank God the CIC isn't black, female or gay or you would be accused of being a racist, misogynist or homophobe.

Before you go to bed tonight Dan, get down on your knees and thank God that you aren't a liberal.

From the incomparable Back Talk

Sunni Sheiks Join Fight Vs. Insurgency

RAMADI, Iraq -- Not long ago it would have been unthinkable: a Sunni sheik allying himself publicly with American forces in a xenophobic city at the epicenter of Iraq's Sunni insurgency.
...
The 36-year-old sheik is leading a growing movement of Sunni tribesmen who have turned against al-Qaida-linked insurgents in Anbar province. The dramatic shift in alliances may have done more in a few months to ease daily street battles and undercut the insurgency here than American forces have achieved in years with arms.
--------

Iraqi Sunnis turn against al Qaeda despite continuing support of said terrorist organization from MSM and Dems.

'common'man dialect', no you're worng. I'm sure that isn't a problem with anyone, even toff-nosed Brits. When Bush gets down to 'plain talkin' he is perfectly lucid and direct and any english speaker around the world can understand what he is saying.

But he's only human and speech-making sure isn't his strength and everyone always saw that (come on!). Clinton is a much better public speaker, but as the whole world saw Clinton telling lies on TV that doesn't make him better. And in times like these I'm sure the world prefers a straight-talker to a dissembler, whatever the US Opposition may claim to the contrary.

We're going to need another straight shooter and great communicator very soon. McCain ain't it. You can have all the content in the world but if you can't communicate effectively given the time limits that the MSN dictates it isn't going to get out.

I'm watching Fred Thompson for content but his communication looks like an A+ so far.

"Iraqi Sunnis turn against al Qaeda despite continuing support of said terrorist organization from MSM and Dems."

What are you on? Iraqi Sunnis never particularly liked Al Qaida. Even after Saddam fell, the organization has never enjoyed more than token support in the country. Under Saddam, Al Qaida didn't even exist in Iraq. In fact, about the only thing that keeps Al Qaida from getting completely marginalized, then hunted down by roving death squads and slaughtered en mass, is the US occupying force.

"the US occupying force"

Znab, you are amazing. As if the Sunni minority would just up and wipe out Sunni al-qaeda - or the Shiite militias would stop at al qaeda once it started killing Sunnis. Dumb - just plain dumb, or in denial.

Speaking of speaking issues.... Did anyone see Kerry the other night on Fox? He's so botoxed-up that nothing moved. We know his brain doesn't move. Now his face is in synch with his brain. He was totally flatlined.

I agree about Bush, but like Aussie said, I like his plain speaking. It is true, though, that manner of speaking makes all the difference in the world. I've always felt bad for Bush when his words don't come out right.

Think of the worst: Listening to Hillary for four years. oh, ow....

I honestly like Bush's casual speaking style, when he isn't trying to speak like a Northerner. He's from Texas, 1/3 of the country owns his natural accent, he doesn't need to try and cover it up. When he is candid, he is amazing, as good as Reagan, when he trys to be formal he sounds awkward. It would be like asking me to talk like a Southerner, or when Hillary went to Selma, she sounded like a retard. I thought, someone get her a helmet. I think that the President has improved himself greatly over the past few months... however, with the MSM being liberal and whatnot they point of out flaws... I mean, President Bush says "Internets" and he gets mocked, I never heard Nader say, "I feel like a n*gger" until I Googled it, because it got no airtime. Yet when Coulter calls Edwards a fag, she gets lambasted (what, I am I allowed to speak ill of Edwards, his wife has cancer (the kind that helps with fund to be sure)). Few people even know that Gore talked about a leopard having stripes (he said it on two separate occasions) and when people talk about how Al Gore claimed to invent the internet, they treat him like an adorable child saying cute things...

"the US occupying force."

You're three years out of date Zifnab, you typical slow learning leftist. The Iraqis got the government they wanted. We would have preferred a more secular government but they were free to choose and choose they did. They will realize their mistake, as will Americans who voted for the Copperhead party, which, desperate to secure defeat, is in denial about the success of the Surge.

By the time the Dems wake up to what's going on now in Iraq, it will be too late. Despite unmitigating support from its loyal propaganda arm, otherwise known as the MSM, its fate is sealed: - political oblivion for decades.

And as a public service- to help those who get their news from the MSM get a clue. The reason the Surge is working is not just the additional U. S. troops, although they are crucial. It's the infusion of Iraqi troops who are working alongside the Americans and changes to the ROE.

What's ironic, though hardly surprising, is that when the Iraqis finally did stand up, those like Hillary, who had callously been warning the Iraqis to do just that, averted their eyes (so as not to notice).

"The Iraqis got the government they wanted."

That's funny, because I imagine over one million new Iraq refugees might disagree with your remarks. I suspect that if they got the government they wanted, you wouldn't see quite so many assassinations of high ranking political leaders. I also suspect there would be a bit less civil war.

"As if the Sunni minority would just up and wipe out Sunni al-qaeda - or the Shiite militias would stop at al qaeda once it started killing Sunnis."

And yes, Dan, I seriously suspect that the Sunni minority would expel the local Al Qaida goon squads faster if they didn't hate the thugs slightly less than they hated the US Occupiers. However, I don't think I mentioned a single thing about Al-Sadr's pack of butchers pulling their punches if they went after the Sunni population. It's almost like you completely made shit up and stuffed it in my mouth.

But yes, you were saying something about me being delusional.

The faster McCain is defeated the better.

Zifnab

Your statement is a non sequitor. Besides, FYI there were 4 million refugees when Saddam was in power. Try to keep up.

"Besides, FYI there were 4 million refugees when Saddam was in power. Try to keep up."

In how many years, Terry? I'm betting significantly more than four. Closer to, say, 20 or 30. And while its always fun to play the "which regime was worse - Saddam or Bush 43", I like to think that when we invaded Iraq our goal was not to displace 1 in 26 Iraqi citizens.

"Saddam was worse" is such an abysmally low bar, you might as well be arguing "at least we didn't kill and displace as many people as Chairman Mao".

If only we'd had Clinton in charge of Iraq. People barely remember Kosavo, but I imagine the scars of Iraq will linger on for generations.

Kosovo was fought more on the behlaf of the Muzzies. We picked the wrong side of that conflict... Milosevic may not have been a nice guy, but at least he knew how to deal with Islamists.
