Knowing Your Enemy

It's important to know one's enemy in any struggle or conflict. Unfortunately for America, her greatest enemy may be America itself. Irresponsible political Liberalism, a mostly unaccountable media and an educated but unenlightened academia, they are the real forces against which the best of America must struggle, simply to be herself.

Our traditions and history are not evil, they are transcendent in the best sense of the word. And even while the mediocrity that can be much of the world chides us, while the powerful yet woefully misguided among us seek to tear America down, the best of us need to continue to celebrate America for the wonder that she actually is, as oppose to the caricature our enemies, within or without, would paint.

Neither Iraq nor al-Qaeda represent the most important war in America's present, a war being waged to secure America's brightest future. The most important conflict is the one we fight on the home front for America's spirit - for her magnificent soul.

"They always blame America first." That was Jeane Kirkpatrick, describing the "San Francisco Democrats" in 1984. But it could be said about a lot of Americans, especially highly educated Americans, today.

For what it is worth, I happpen to like America, its culture, and her people more than Terrorism, the Middle East, and Islam. Many of us may be on the wrong track at times, but with the Constitution and the King James Bible to guide us, I think we've done fairly well in the past 230 year run we've had.
