Surely these people (hat tip - Dan Riehl) live somewhere, but how do they know when to come out of their holes to parade around half naked, wear furry outfits, display bizarre slogans, and make such stupid, naive, statements? These people bring new mea... [Read More]

I think that one girl isn't half bad... aside from possibly having enough pit-hair to make Chewbacca a tad jealous...
But maybe it was just the shadowing. :P

Phoenix, tell me when and where; I'll be there. Yours, Uncharacteristically naughty Fred.

Neocons always go for the cover band.
The real thing is too heavy for them.

"Neocons always go for the cover band.

Actually they aren't even aware that "Sweet Jane" is a cover. Can you imagine Riehl with a deer-in-headlights expression on his face if he actually listened to the source of the song? So clueless.

Neocons ... Actually ... blah blah blah
You guys are just plain stupid. I was going to Hoople concerts, probably before you were even born, morons. What, did you like hear it on a best of the Dudes album, or maybe a decade highlight release?
bleh. Assholes.

Chit - I had totally forgotten Reed and The Velvet Underground until three minutes after I commented. But then, everyone else has forgotten them, too - shame. They were pure but too under produced for my tastes. Still, it isn't like Reed was Patti Smith, or anything. Or was he?
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 12:05 PM
Good grief, Riehl. Wholly clueless.

Wholly clueless
Oh, puhlease. Like much from that era, Reed became a cult footnote, more well-known for his influence, than his music. LIke forgetting his authorship after forty years is a big deal. Besides, it isn't like I was straight or sober whenever hearing his version, or Hoople's subsequent cover - which became the definitive version. Actually, thinking about it, Reed's version of his own song basically sucked. If not for Take a Walk, few would ever have heard of him except for his association with more notable talent.

Yeah, when you Googled the song title, and found out for the first time. Your pointed "criticisms" are about as in depth as the Wikipedia articles you skimmed.

Uncharacteristically naughty Fred. Okay. :) I'll tape up my tatas and send Dan a jpeg. He can post it.
Dan. You better post it and not keep it for your private viewing pleasure!
(Dan has seen my picture, so he knows what a hawt babe I am. :)

Oh man... Take a walk on the wild side. I used to make movies, and in one movie I made with a pile of friends on Hog Island, - a seventeen-mile-long island off the coast of Virginia, I filmed everyone for one section of the movie. In my part, all you see is my butt in a little blue-jeans bikini as I walk down the beach. I used "Walk on the Wild Side" for the sound track. It's just great! Thanks for the reminder!
The last night we were there, we built a huge bonfire on the beach and everyone jumped through it. Hint: We were only too happy to be so foolish... and used "Sympathy for the Devil" for that scene. It is pretty cool as the fire was so huge it filled the entire frame.

"and found out for the first time"
Yeah, sure. And your weak comeback shows you know nothing of the music of the era.

Okay, better laminate it for cleaning purposes then. LMAO

Haw haw haw............
What's that place that does laminating? Kinky's? Kinkit? Kinkster's? Kinks Be We? Let Us Put U Thru Our Press?
I don't know. I'll let you put a nice coating on it, Dan. :)

Reed forgotten? Are you nuts? He still performs occasionally with his companion Laurie Andersen. As for being a cult footnote, you do realize the band was inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame in '96 right?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 08:32 PM
Oh yes, and his performance of White Lighte/White Heat with The Reconteurs at the MTV Video Awards kicked ass.

"Reed forgotten? Are you nuts? He still performs occasionally with his companion Laurie Andersen. As for being a cult footnote"
LOL You're going to tell me performing with Laurie Anderson means someone "isn't" all but forgotten?? No offense to LA, but her performance artist schtick reached its high point in the mid - late 80's.
I said Reed was known more for his influence and the same might be said for LA - great, that makes them the performers performer and gets them into the HOF. But popular they ain't.
Geesh do I even have that O Superman, or whatever it was, album anymore?
