Paul McNulty and David Margolis. Margolis is the assistant to McNulty and Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty is the problem at Justice, along with a handful of Democrat careerists the President should have fired in 2001.
Between Global Warming being pushed by the Marxists, the Leftist behavior of many Democrat members of Congress - the feckless Liberal careerists undermining everything from State to the CIA, it's times like these that make you wish we could depend on someone solid to come along and ferret out the traitors.
Okay, maybe without teh "guy" to his right.
This outa leave a mark! heh!
Is there a coup at Justice?

Man, your irony meter is badly broken.
Dan, in case you didn't notice, a purge of people who weren't sufficiently consistent "loyal Bushies" is exactly what got Gonzales into trouble. You know the Bush admin decided to do exactly what you wanted: "ferret out the traitors" who were either going after Republicans too aggressively or Democrats not aggressively enough for the White House's taste. And -- here's the shocker -- the media and Congress actually noticed (though it took a couple of months).

I've never seen someone trolling on his own blog site before, Riehl. This is brand new precedent, Riehl.

Crust, if anything, yer giving Dan's bleatings too much credit. Bush put those folk in the positions they held. Twice for a couple of em, I believe. The 'problem' was they took their positions seriously, and tried to be non-partisan law enforcement officers, instead of Bush's hacks.
Dan, honestly, you're a cartoon character at this point.
I know your dead-end supporters will always pretend namecalling is insightful analysis, but come on. All you did was string together a bunch of taunts. Is that all you have to offer?
Oh, wait.
It is. You're a bigot n an idiot, n netroots money has made you pompous. Ah well. At least you provide stuff for tbogg n sadly, no to riff on.
Posted by: brad | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 04:13 PM
It isn't a bunch of taunts, it's what I believe. BTW - You do realize there "were" some communists in the government back then?
Perhaps you misunderestimate just how dangerous I believe the Left is in America.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 04:18 PM
We should have been having hearings before we lost controle of Congress. We should have had the heads of ABC, NBC and CBS in front of Congress explaining their liberal bias. We should have had ACORN infront of Congress explaining why they were registering dead people. We should have had the NYT editors in front of Congress explaining why they were endangering the public by publishing secret information.
Instead we tried to be friends with these jackels who will do anything and say anything to get back into power and sacrifice our country to the UN. Welcome to 1984 people the left has power back and they will never, ever let that power go again, no matter what they have to do. Say goodby to even the pretext of fair elections.

And nothing can justify that.
What's more Elia Kazan named names, and we must never do that.

No Dan, it is just a bunch of taunts. Just because you want to believe certain things about those that disagree with you doesn't make it so. Especially when it's ridiculous crap like calling anyone to the left of you a traitor.
People fall for it, so you have relatively safe career here, I'll give you that. But that doesn't make what you're saying true.
You're a very hateful man, Dan, and if you're lucky you'll one day realize you're the one making yourself so angry.
Not me, not Al Gore, not Jane Fonda, you, and only you. There's real problems and dangers and such in the world, I'm not denying that, especially not as a resident of nyc since the summer of 99. (Do the math.) But pretending my disagreement with you means I'm a traitor or hate america or forgot what happened is at best lazy, and in truth utter bullshit. You are not america, your beliefs are not the american way. America is pluralistic. My way is just as american as yours, arguably moreso, insofar as the actual ideals behind the nation are more in keeping with my beliefs than yours. But regardless, your entire stance is either a lie or an expression of arrogant ignorance. Probably a mix of both. The left does not hate america. You hate the left.
But why am I ranting. You're either too stupid, too corrupt, or too blinded by hate to listen.

'The leftist behavior of many Democrat members of Congress.'
Dan, sometimes I wonder that you can tie your own shoes. To call a Democrat a leftist is rather like calling a Republican a rightist. It's not quite the insult you think it is.
Do you ever think about what you post? Have you considered stepping away from this blog for a bit and learning how to write? It's a rather tricky craft that generally benefits from editing for clarity and logic. As it is, you seem to go by the 'throw poo at the wall and see what sticks and what gets me comments' theory, heedless that what you write is regularly fifth-rate, junior-high-level garble and that your commenters laugh their asses off daily at your smallness of intellect. Your reputation as 'stupidest wingnut on the Internet' seems, to you, a bizarre point of pride. I suggest you think it over, Dan. Maybe you should just come right out and be a clown as a determined career choice, rather than, as you are, a somewhat unintentional clown who makes an utter fool of himself several times a day.
Posted by: djangone | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 04:29 PM
The whole premise of this that McNulty wants to push out Gonzales so he can be Attorney General is absurd. McNulty is up to his eyeballs in this story. If Gonzales is out, McNulty will almost certainly be out too. E.g McNulty testified under oath that six of the prosecutors were dismissed for "performance related" issues (see e.g. http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/002551.php ).

I have a question, are witch hunts only bad when done by the administration? What if the administration is weak, and effective power is in the hands of the elite media, and they go on a protracted, conspiratorial, multi-level witch hunt?
That's OK, right, because the elite are our moral compass?

Dude. How are you going to cram all that in to a 10-hour work week? So down there, honcho. Cunningham needs time to break in his new yaht. What sort of sweat shop did you think they were running up in D.C. the last 6 years?

Not to mention, Crust, that even if McNulty is bucking to become the AG, he doesn't get the job just because Abu Al-Gonzales is out. Riehl doesn't seem to realize that the president would have to appoint a new candidate, and that said candidate likely wouldn't be McNulty. But don't bother Riehl with actual reality; his blog doesn't purport to have anything serious to say. The entire premise here is poo-slinging.
That's it.

Wow some of you nutroots should get out in the world more, you really live a heremtically sealed bubble if you think Riehl's writing is in any way extreme. But I guess if you yell loudly everyhwhere you go you will only hear the sound of your own voice, so its pretty pointless.

Ah, for the good old honest days of John Ashcroft
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/070316/16ashcroft.htm
"Among other steps that he took, Ayres approached then Deputy Attorney General James Comey for his thoughts. Comey gave Ayres the same list of those whom he viewed as weak U.S. attorneys that he would give Gonzales's Chief of Staff Kyle Sampson a year later. In principle, the former Justice official says, Comey was not opposed to removing incompetent people.
However, Comey's definition of incompetence turned out to be quite different from Sampson's and had nothing to do with politics, says the former official. And the only one of the fired group Comey had identified as weak was Kevin Ryan, the U.S. attorney in San Francisco. But Sampson put Ryan on his list of top prosecutors."

...you Fox News watching rednecks are the most entertaining thing on the net."
Who watches Fox News? And southdakotaboy, you are intelligent beyond your years, as what happened in Washington State in 2004 will be the blueprint for every election going forward. Illegal aliens, the dead, stuffed ballots, illegal voting sites, convicted felons, dirty tricks and a host of other abuses by the Left, including attempted murder, have now tainted our elections. And look at what ACORN did in the last election cycle, and little has been done to the people who are corrupting the free election process in the US.
Posted by: templar knight | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 04:42 PM
One thing about Dan, though, he delivers a consistent product.
He never posts an original thought, never deviates from the wingnut talking points, invariably links to articles that don't support the position's he takes, cites research and experts with no credibility, lacks any understanding of American law, constitutional law, history or anything else he blogs about. Plus, he never fails to impress with his poor writing and editing skills.

Uh, yyy, you never deviate from the Leftist talking points yourself, and I can't think of anything original you've ever said. Other than these few exceptions, I pretty much rely on your judgment.

I realize that Associated Press is considered a liberal publication on this blog, but, whatever.
The other thing I love about Dan's blog is that EVERYONE is a traitor. I think just about everyone has been thrown under the bus in defense of Dubya's failed regime including his own father, everyone that worked for Bush I, Colin Powell, any general that has dared to criticize BushCo's failed strategy, any active or retired member of the military to do the same, even EISENHOWER has been maligned here on Danny's blog. As I remember Ike was too soft and too liberal.
But, nary a word of criticism for the decider. Too funny.

Ahhhhhhh, no Dan. We're laughin at you, not with you. Don't pat yourself on the back. Coulter burned us out on getting mad at wingnuts pretending McCarthy wasn't the alcoholic asshole he's recognized as. Besides, who even mentioned McCarthy besides you?
I'm beginning to actually feel sorry for you, amazing as that is to me. For one, do you care about anything but annoying those you've decided are the enemy? How impotent are you, if that's the best you can do even in your own mind? You're like Ann Coulter's annoying little brother, who mistakes why he's annoying. Yer not getting under anyone's skin, Dan. You're far too shallow and, well, stupid. What's (mildly) annoying is watching you pat yourself on the back for muffing an attempt to copy someone who's better than you at doing something inherently dishonest and/or unintelligent. But it's only annoying at first. Eventually it becomes plain sad. You have no identity of your own, Dan. You exist as the negative image of a cartoon version of your imagined adversary. Honestly, I don't want that much power over you, that everything you are is determined by being what I'm not. Try being your own man, for once.
Posted by: brad | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:17 PM
...your assertion borders on being per se libelous....
Haha, very funny, Legalize. Let me see, now. Illegal aliens have voted in large numbers in California, Texas, Wisconsin, and many large cities that require nothing more than a utility bill in order to vote. Do you deny this? Illegal voting sites in Philadelphia include union halls where voters other than Democrats have been intimidated. Union halls are not legal voting sites, are they? Mayhap I'm wrong on this one, I'll check. Felons voted in large enough numbers in Washington state to swing an election to the Democratic candidate for governor. Surely you are aware of this, Legalize, you being a lawyer and all. It is a running joke in Louisiana that the Democrats have voted the dead for years in New Orleans.
And let's see, I include the mayor of Milwaukee's son, or was it a representative, but nonetheless, a prominent Democrat's son slashed tires on the opposition's vehicles the night before an election. Damaging the opposition's signs, or outright theft, has become a rite of passage for some young Democrats as they go from one neighborhood to another. I've seen several of these youngsters caught in the act by homeowners. I've watched the film on the internet. All these are dirty tricks.
And the Secretary of State in Florida was almost run down in an incident in 2004, when an unhinged Leftist attempted to do what? I take it he didn't intend to just touch her with his vehicle.
And how many illegal voters have been registered by ACORN? And the list goes on and on. You know this, Legalize.

I'm getting whiplash.
Probably from being slapped silly around here. The two comemnts you quoted aren't mutually exclusive. Try, again. As for Andrew - forget about the GOP, it's the Right you should worry about. We're keeping enough powder dry here at home for the real war when it comes.

He also failed to mention the threat letter sent out to hispanic voters in the 2006 Maryland Senatorial election.
Illegal aliens voting is ridiculous if true. I say IF true.
I also don't think you can have an illegal election site.
Never heard about felons voting in Washington state, I also somehow doubt this is true, but if so, is ridiculous as well.
Posted by: yyy | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:33 PM
Uh, Bob, I was talking about voter fraud on your side, you are the one to point out unfair practices on mine. If this happened, it was illegal, and the people who did this should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But I've never heard you mention any of the "nefarious practices" I pointed out. So get that mote out of your eye before you criticize the splinter in mine.
Posted by: templar knight | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:35 PM
"Never heard about felons voting in Washington state, I also somehow doubt this is true, but if so, is ridiculous as well."
Its not. ACORN purged their own rolls of felons long before they were indited. Republicans just went dumpster diving and decided to go after the organization because it was signing up too many legal minorities.
Basic voter disenfranchisement. Kinda like how the NAACP has been sued repeatedly by this administration for various non-crimes.

oh, so that's what joe mccarthy looked like.
Posted by: tally | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:36 PM
tk, yes if the things you described occured, they should be investigated. You are talking about this wide-spread and massive conspiacy in Washington State and others, involving a whole host of characters committing a numnber of serious fellonies. If this were the case, you should be able to show SOMETHING supporting your assertions - not just accusations.
Posted by: Legalize | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:48 PM
The rightie templar knight makes an interesting comment on voter fraud: "So get that mote out of your eye before you criticize the splinter in mine."
Of course, a mote is a lot smaller than a splinter (that's the whole point of the parable of course). So that's a rather interesting concession that voter fraud by Republicans is the major problem here.
Posted by: Crust | Monday, March 19, 2007 at 05:53 PM
Ziffy, go to Sound Politics.com where Stephen Sharansky has spent the past 2 or 3 years ferreting out the voter fraud in the 2004 governor's election. Felons played a part. And other so-called "nefarious schemes" have been found as well.
And ACORN purged their rolls, huh? You've got to be kidding. That's one of the most ridiculous assertions I've ever read. Basic voter disenfranchisement, right. The only people disenfranchised by the tactics of ACORN were legal voters, who had their votes negated and watered down.

I never said that, yyy. I consider voting fraud to be one of the major problems facing our nation, especially as it has gotten worse over the past few election cycles. If you don't see the danger when elections are no longer considered honest by the majority of people, then you have no sense of history. Dictatorships always follow dishonest election practices.
