I'm not so sure that our Democrats are as limp as some think. I know that if these were Americans and Clinton was Prez there would be bombs dropping and Iran's military infastructure would be taking a pounding right now and in the here and now if the British decide to stand up for their own servicemen I believe that our Democratic Congress will do the right thing (although they may later vote against doing the right thing in a nonbinding sort of way).

The interesting thing about all of this is that in the UK and Europe there is a strong "surge" of anti Iranian sentement being felt. Far more people are calling for the sailors to be released or the UK to go in and get them than I actually imagined.

Buzzy I hope you are right, but the average European man is very effement so I hope to be suprised.

I know that if these were Americans and Clinton was Prez there would be

You're kidding, right, Buzzy? You mean like he responded in Mogadishu? We'd have Albright hauling her fat ass around the globe in "shuttle" diplomacy at this point and nothing more.

Dan,did you have to mention that fat-assed Half-Bright??She and her minions make me so ill.

Does make you wonder what it will take for the US and their allies to wake up and smell the coffee. Isolationism is no longer an option; neither the Atlantic nor the Pacific are functional as moats anymore. Pathologies anywhere around the globe are now immediately exportable to the US. We can block them at the border, but to do so we would need to choke off global trade. Not an option, IMO. The other choice is to try and eliminate them at the source. May not be possible, since in our suicidal PC'ism we have allowed the pathologies to incubate in our midst. But I sure hope we do something about them before the man in the tall hat looms over a major US city.

We ought to advise every nation in the world that we will consider it an act of war if they allow their citizens to cheer attacks on US citizens or troops, to allow their citizens to teach their children to hate the US and Israel, to allow their citizens to aid and abet those who would attack us. If they can't keep their citizens from doing those things, they will have to surrender and let us do it. If they don't surrender, we give them 2 wks to evacuate, then lob a tactical on their capitol. Is this so hard? What am I missing here?

Doc,better to be feared than loved.

Your right about the democrats and the europeans.

Unfortunately, it applies equally to the spineless boob in the WH.

Barry,I pray for a spine transplant for GW everyday.

How about absence makes the heart grow fonder? We should Saran Wrap the United States for thirty days. Nothing in, nothing out. Then watch what happens. Israel would nuke Iran straightaway. Russia would be pissed but not for long as China would take them out. Taiwan would take enough of China out that the masses would feel free to take the rest out. South Korea would take out North Korea just for the hell of it and for the tiresome business of having to watch the damn place all the time. The Middle East would go, "What the hell?", with no one to buy their oil and they'd destroy Venezuela just to keep the tap running. Cuba would scratch their heads and not know where to turn except inward to think about what a bitch communism is. The Palestinians would all run over to Syria which is already overflowing with Iraqis kind of like Houston is overflowing with New Orleanians, and Assad would learn a good lesson. Lebanon, emboldened by Iran's demise would dispose of Hezbollah in no time. And Africa would start a group-sing of "Kumbaya" and try like hell to get over fighting for a change since there'd be no aid coming in to prop up the warlords. India would outsource its tech help to Africa and make it bloom as a nice capitalist country. Listening to drums on hold instead of Indian music would be a good thing. Australia would deport all Muslims and get back to being riotous former ancestral British heathens. Mexico would just have to get a life. South America and Canada don't notice anything different. Japan would sit back and wait and welcome us when we unwrap ourselves as a new nation fresh from saran-wrap rehab where libs learn to love cons and college professors grok that the world really does need us.

I could be wrong about that Dan. Let me see:

February 26, 1993 the first World Trade Center bombing. Nope did nothing.

1993, Pakistani gunman kills employees at CIA. Nope did nothing.

April 14, 1993 Iraq attempt to kill Bush41. Nope did nothing.

March 8, 1995 Gunmen kill two US Diplomats in Pakistan. Nope did nothing.

November 13, 1995 US servicemen killed in bombing in Saudi. Did nothing.

June 19, 1996 19 US servicement killed (385 injured) in Saudi. Nothing

August 7, 1998 Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania bombed. I think Clinton blew up a aspirin factory in Sudan and two empty training camps in Afghanistan over this one.

January 7, 1999 Clinton impeachment trial for lying under oath and obstruction of justice started. Clinton begins bombing of Iraq to force Saddam to give up his WMDs which he now says he never thought were there anyway.

Sorry Dan, I must have been thinking about someone else. Apparently I confused attacking the enemy with getting a BJ from an intern.

It isn't just Clinton, Buzzy. Unfortunately the problem is more broad than that. The Bush administration has blown the Reagan legacy of peace through strength with the incompentent handling of the war.

Buzzy - you're still an idiot.

You want to trace roots of unanswered terrorist attacks - it starts with the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks. The president - Ronald Reagan.

***********
President Reagan assembled his national security team and planned to target the Sheik Abdullah barracks in Baalbek, Lebanon, which housed Iranian Revolutionary Guards believed to be training Hezbollah fighters.[3] But Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger aborted the mission, reportedly because of his concerns that it would harm U.S. relations with other Arab nations.

Besides a few shellings, there was no serious retaliation for the Beirut bombing from the Americans. In December 1983, U.S. aircraft attacked Syrian targets in Lebanon, but this was in response to Syrian missile attacks on planes, not the barracks bombing.

The Marines were moved offshore where they could not be targeted. On February 7, 1984, President Reagan ordered the Marines to begin withdrawal from Lebanon. This was completed on February 26; the rest of the MNF was withdrawn by April.

"You want to trace roots of unanswered terrorist attacks - it starts with the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks."

I was thinking the embassy takeover in Tehran and Carter's limp response.

The point to all this is weakness buys you nothing but contemt from enemies.

Reagan? Isn't that the senile fool who cut and ran like a girl in Beirut? I thought so. Also, I don't think that it helps that you patriots voted for a former male cheerleader who can't speak in complete sentences. Ok, now get back to your victorious surge.

Yeah, tough guy Reagan wanted to punish Iran so badly for the Beirut Bombing and Hostage Crisis that he decided to sell them arms.

Why BoobinBridgeport, all this time I had you wrong. You wrote: "Reagan? Isn't that the senile fool who cut and ran like a girl in Beirut? I thought so." You are criticizing Reagan for cutting and running in Beirut, and perhaps justifiably so. That means you feel he should have attacked our enemies there. Who knew you had the will to fight our enemies and the heart of a warrior? All this time I thought you were a sniveling appeaser and peace-at-any-price weasel. Apologies and welcome to conservatism.

Oh, and Jon too. Airborne/ranger/air cavalry to you Jon. Now I bet Iran really is quaking in its sandals.

Is my memory fading or didn't they release the hostages held for 444 days the day after Reagan entered office?

"Apparently I confused attacking the enemy with getting a BJ from an intern."

Easy enough to do, Buzzy. At least the intern was made a noun for life. And probably beyond her life. I think Pelosi is going to be made a verb: As in: "You just pelosied the finest set of attack plans, you imbecile."

How tiring, Old Fool in Florida. No WMDs, no bin Laden. 4 years, Hundreds of Billions of $$ wasted and still the goatherders prevail. Miserable.Failure. You people are such dopes.

I believe you're correct, Phoenix.

Well now, that's better. You didn't really want Reagan to respond to the attack in Beirut, did you, DID YOU? Why do you write things that you don't mean?

I think that pulling back to our own boarders is a wonderfull idea. It wouldn't kill trade either people would still come to us for what they needed from us and with all the troops there to check the ships that would be handled. It might also encourage us to restart our own industries. We could pay for universal health care with all the money we would save on foreign aid. Plus it would help the environment once all the third world people either killed themselves off or just died from the lack of American Aid.

Was just watching the film The Peacemaker with surrender-monkey George Clooney yelling, "remember to do nothing to hit civilians." Shot in 1997. While the nitwit Albright was visiting N. Korea and thanking them for only breaking the Jimmy Carter foolishness in '93 just a wee bit.

The Democrats will invite our enemies to come in and poison/explode us back to the Stone Age, and blame it on the Republicans when it happens!

Dave,

The way it looks now with our 'Give us your tired, your poor' full sheeted home, both parties are accessories to this.

We ought to stop all immigration for a year. Be like the Swiss and see what happens.

It's like the principle of you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. Or the redneck version: How can I miss you if you won't leave? Our open borders don't win us any friends or any appreciation. Time for the planet to know what it's like not to have easy access to us.

(I think I sound like Pat Buchanan. Oh well - keep up the laissez faire with a 'stay out of our hair' attitude on immigration.)

europeans do have us in this mess. however, i also put blame on the sector of folks who decided to punish the republican party in the last election. you know, the cut off your nose to spite your face types and the glass is half empty instead of half full types. ronald reagan was the best president ever, but even he made huge mistakes. his immigration policy with amnesty to all illegals prior to 1980 has horridly failed (so did sandra day o'conner). forgive me gipper.

i need an edit button. that was supposed to have read: liberal democrats and pond scum sucking europeans do have us in this mess.

Tally, conservatives had no choice but to punish Republicans. This is coming from a county vice-chair.

"The Bush administration has blown the Reagan legacy of peace through strength"

hilarious. i forget, how did reagan react to the terrorist attack that killed hundreds of marines?

darth, don't punish when we are at war. it's only made it harder on the troops and their families. i'm worried sick now.

Reagan reacted just the way all you Leftists want us to react now. By running away. And it was wrong then, just as it's wrong now. But thanks for proving our point, you yellow-bellied surrender monkeys!

Tally, our elected Republicans needed a swift kick in the behind. They have to feel our wrath when they screw up.
