Amid rumors that Senator Fred Thompson might make a run for the Presidency, he was on Mark Levin's radio show this evening discussing the Libby matter and Levin ended the call by asking him about the rumors.
He played it rather coy, simply saying, I'll have more to say about that a little bit down the road.
I don't know enough about his back story, but based upon what I do know, he's someone I could support. He's also someone I think would play very well to the electorate, potentially the closest thing to a Reagan I've seen around lately.

Another actor??

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
He did some other things though (from a Senate bio): assistant U.S. attorney 1969-1972; minority counsel, Senate Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities (“Watergate Committee”) 1973-1974; special counsel to Tennessee Governor Lamar Alexander 1980; special counsel, Senate Committee on Foreign Relations 1980-1981; special counsel, Senate Intelligence Committee 1982; member, Tennessee Appellate Court Nominating Commission 1985-1987; actor; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in the November 8, 1994, special election to fill the unexpired portion of the term ending January 3, 1997, left vacant by the resignation of Albert Gore, Jr.; took the oath of office on December 2, 1994; reelected in 1996 for the term ending January 3, 2003; not a candidate for reelection in 2002; chair, Committee on Governmental Affairs (One Hundred Fifth and One Hundred Sixth Congresses; One Hundred Seventh Congress [January 20, 2001-June 6, 2001]); resumed acting career.

However--did he do anything substantial when he was a senator?

A Reagan. You mean a senile BAD actor? Does he have a chimp as a sidekick. Bedtime for Scooter, perhaps?

I'll give him credit for being a better actor than Reagan but outside of that I don't know much about him.

There is one good thing about his possible run for President, it would get him off Law & Order and get a real actor back in that role again.

Rob,he is making too much money, even though he seems ok as a president.

I don't know anything about Fred Thompson relative to his policies, but I saw him in Hunt for Red October and he made me *feel* good about America in that movie. The same goes for Law and Order. He probably hates fags too. That's all I need to know.
/conservative primary voter

Well Legalize his characted on Law & Order did fire the assistant DA, played by Elisabeth Röhm, who happened to be a lesbian soon after he found out she was. Seems to be right wing SOP.

Fred Thompson is gaining a lot of support among conservatives. In the last week his name has been bandied about all over the place and he is appearing on FNS with Chris Wallace tomorrow.
He is much more than just a pretty face.
