Okay, not all Dems.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States unless of course you watch Fox News, then all bets are off when it comes to the free speech thing, as well as the ability to assemble around your television set and watch whatever you want."

I saw that earlier today and figured it was simply a way for Kucinich to get himself some attention, but he does make a good point. Plus, he's not afraid to show up on Fox, usually on H&C.

Define "Free Speech" Dan. Are you being deliberately ignorant? I'm just curious.
Posted by: Zifnab | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 09:53 PM
I wasn't aware that anyone had proposed legislation or law enforcement action to silence Fox News. The really hilarious part is that the people speaking at this debate would have been the Democratic candidates themselves, so Dan seems to be implying that the Democrats are legally bound to appear on Fox News and nowhere else. The ramifications of this argument with respect to free speech are left as an exercise to the reader.

Define "deliberately ignorant."
Might make things simpler... also, define "define."
Who says its all semantics and controlling language with liberals?

ha ha... Nice set-up, Dan. :)
Hey, kudos to Kucinich. I liked everything he said. 5 Brownie points for Dennis!

I John McCain do swear to shut down all conservative websites that may offend the Democratic Party,Muslims,Atheist,ACLU,or sitting members of congress.I will faithfully put the First Admendment in a lockbox since the American People can't handle it.

you're a hypocrite. You censor your own comments for strong disagreement
Posted by: LOL | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:00 PM
You censor
No, I censor them when someone is rude and stupid enough to tell me to shut up on my own blog.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:03 PM
LOL,what is untrue about what I said??CFR was the worst thing to happen to politics.I think McCain taking the oath would be about as bad as a Dem.
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:04 PM
huh? you just hate the truth getting out. Al Gore's house is powered by "green" energy. His electric bill isn't creating a carbon footprint! And you can't stand that this is true, cuz it shoots your whole argument away. It's okay, conservatives have long held an estranged relationship with science. You need to shut up and read more. Opine less and learn more, because every day you look stupid.

before dan dumps my post down the memory hole
here is what he deleted, not the exact article but the same gist
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/28/AR2007022801823.html
"The power coming into their residence is green, renewable power," she said, explaining that the Gores participate in a program called Green Power Switch, which is run through the public Tennessee Valley Authority. Green Power Switch supplies energy from renewable sources to its members.
You are a pathetic half-man dan
Posted by: LOL | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:13 PM
LOL,Gore is a someone that does not walk the walk as has been pointed out.If he were serious his home would be a energy saving showcase.Even a Right-winger like me would pay attention.
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:15 PM
more papers to be dumped down the hole by dan
Gore's power bill shows, however, that the former vice president may be doing just that.
Gore purchased 108 blocks of "green power" for each of the past three months, according to a summary of the bills.
That's a total of $432 a month Gore paid extra for solar or other renewable energy sources.
The green power Gore purchased in those three months is equivalent to recycling 2.48 million aluminum cans or 286,092 pounds of newspaper, according to comparison figures on NES' Web site.

LOl,Dan has given us a nice forum and being a guest you should not pee on his carpet.A little civility would be nice.
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:18 PM
actually he does. He spends alot of energy, but he buys green power, which is part of the reason it is so expensive. Dan just doesn't post the whole story, as usual
Posted by: LOL | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:18 PM
Are you saying liars and hypocrites deserve civility? It's not like I'm cussing up a storm.
Posted by: LOL | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:19 PM
I am all for Gore using what he can pay for.Just don't tell me how to live.Be an example.
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:19 PM
Dan is not any of those things that I have seen so far.I try to be civil even to communist.:)
Posted by: Darth Malice | Sunday, March 11, 2007 at 11:21 PM
It's not like I'm cussing up a storm.
I told you and I'm not telling you again - your post was deleted to its rudeness - telling me to shut up. Now look what you're doing here, along with casting false accusations, you are hijacking the thread. It isn't on Gore, it isn't in global warming. Actually, you were so rude I banned you, but then I took it off, as I hate to reseort to that.
But if you continue to try and hijack threads by going so far off topic, I'll have no choice. Either accept the ground rules, or don't.

I've got to agree, if a candidate won't show up and explain / defend his positions on the issues then they probably shouldn't even be running for President. That includes Fox News, probably becuase it has an audience share equal to CNN and that other one nobody watches put together.
If I was going to dig out 90% of my brain with a ice cream scoop and vote Democrat I'd probably vote Kucinich for this very fact alone.
Posted by: Buzzy | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 12:51 AM
I am about as far down the political spectrum from Dennis Kucinich as you can get, but his stand today in defense of the First Amendment and the obligation of all candidates to face the public, and not just in venues they approve of or don't offend their extremist supporters, is a breath of fresh air. It was very eloquently stated. It may also cost him a good part of his base that disagrees with him, and for that I respect him even more.
I may not vote for him, but I am going to toss him a few bucks on principle. And I mean principle. Bravo, Dennis. Give 'em hell!
Posted by: JohnnyT | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 12:56 AM
oh look the wingers are so concerned about the democrats reaching the fox viewers. That the dems' decision upsets you only illustrates how right it is.
Posted by: LOL | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 01:41 AM
LOL,
You just don't get it. You think this 'upsets' us? Are you nuts? We love it.
All the dems did was show what cowards they are. Any thinking person is saying to himself...'Hmmm, if those presidential wannabes can't take some tough questions from fellow Americans, what good are they going to be on the WORLD stage?'
This is cotton candy for your party. Amazing you can't see it.
Posted by: Phoenix | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 02:02 AM
The lefties turned and ran when the big, bad FOX network said BOO! Too funny. And they wonder why we don't trust them to protect America from terrorism. Hell, they can't even handle harsh language.
Posted by: Hard Right | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 02:12 AM
oh the cons "love it"? I never knew. I thought with all Dan's whining about freedom of speech was at risk, and roger ailes whining that a party cannot shut out journalists that the cons were upset. It's great to know you've changed your tune and now you "love it", because the dems are "running". Running from what? If anything they stood up to Fox News and said "If you're going to be the propaganda megaphone for one party, don't expect to get treated like real journalists."
Posted by: LOL | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 02:57 AM
Who'd have guessed Dennis was the only Dem with the balls to stand up to the nutroots. You go girl!
Posted by: docweasel | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 06:02 AM
Want to know who is upset? Moderate dems, that who. These left wing nut are killing their party.
Posted by: tk | Monday, March 12, 2007 at 10:57 AM
This is hilarious. The Left, who always have their knives out for the wealthy, are suckers enough to fall for the buying of environmental kudos with good old fashioned money. It doesn't get any better than this. Now anybody with the green backs can buy kudos for their green selves. A real howler.
