Bush may have had a say in firing US Attorneys, just as Clinton did, enmasse. Big whoop.
Attorney General Janet Reno today demanded the prompt resignation of all United States Attorneys, leading the Federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia to suggest that the order could be tied to his long-running investigation of Representative Dan Rostenkowski, a crucial ally of President Clinton.
Political hacks come and go in those jobs. Where Bush failed was in not replacing many of them from the get go - so much for a new tone in Washington.
At least it took the heat off of Pace for a bit. Good thing he didn't use the "F" word.
WASHINGTON - Senior aides to the chairman of the military Joint Chiefs of Staff said Tuesday that Marine Gen. Peter Pace won't apologize for calling homosexuality immoral — an opinion that gay advocacy groups deplored.
And the beat goes on - la de da da de, ... la de da da da.

The Dems have nothing and are desperately hoping they can smear Bush and take the focus off their utter incompetence. They weren't doing their jobs as expected-period. The only one that MIGHT not apply to is the one canned for Rove's buddy. So what? Admins always give assignments to those that have been loyal.

It is becoming more and more painfully clear what the GOP thinks of "law and order." To them this means, "doing the Party's bidding in its political interests, whether or not justice is subverted." http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003616950_mckay14m.html
It's stunning that the Dems have only had subpoena power for 2 months or so - and look at the filth they've already dredged up. The last Congress and the Bush presidency will go down as the most traitorous, incompetent regime in U.S. history.

"Dems have nothing". Hmm, you're apparently not following along. You may want to review this thread so you can show some understanding of what's going on. Suffice it to say, this is turning into a MAJOR scandal.
And it's curious to see a hard right conservative support the subjugation of US Attorneys' offices to the political needs to the party in power.

The Dems are saying it's a scandal, genius. That doesn't make it a scandal. Nothing will come of this. But if it makes you feel good, then fap away. BTW, you've only seen the selectively edited e-mails regarding the firings. Try reading the complete ones. It's enlightening-too bad you brain dead lefties won't learn to think for yourself suddenly.

No, pretty much everyone's much saying it's a scandal. Even AG Gonzales admitted "mistakes have been made". And his chief of staff that drew up the list of attorneys to fire resigned Tuesday. Coincidence? Doubtful.
You can read excerpts of editorials from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY that call for the resignation of AG Gonzales here: http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003557783
It's not Democrat / Republican issue. Everyone should be against the politicization of US Attorneys.

Him apologising was ridiculous. He apologized for nothing and his CoS resigned in order to help calm things down. They did nothing wrong and the Dems/MSM/moonbats screaming scandal is irrelevant. So FAP away!

Haven't looked in on this zoo in a while, and it's reassuring to see that the hiveminders are as rabid and deeply, deeply stupid as ever. Riehl, true to form, leads the circus with his usual lies and bullshit. (I still want to know -- who pays a salary to the moron? There's a stock in desparate need of shorting.)
Are any of you right-wingers even vaguely aware that as political appointees, all the ejected U.S. attorneys were pretty solid Republicans? As soon as they seemed to be less than totally in sync with political needs of the Idiot Prince, their reputations were smeared and they got the boot. It's that famous Bush loyalty again.
And that aside, are you hiveminders really so clueless that you can't see how a prosecutorial apparatus in thrall to political masters is a little bit worrisome? Didja ever stop to think that next time it might be President Hillary running the purge?
