U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers is under police guard at his home after anti-war vandals attacked his Lansing, Michigan office. Along with the building, sign-age in the image, and walkway, they trashed security cameras and hung a sign declaring that the Congressman has blood on his hands.
The FBI, U.S. Capitol police and local authorities are investigating the incident. Story and additional images here.
The tapes from the cameras are being reviewed to see if they recorded anything before they were destroyed.
The vandals also spread red paint all over the 8th congressional district sign in front of the building, as well as on a sign that says "We Support Our Troops."
The classic AP lede for the story informs us ... that the vandals were upset. That's funny. They just look like common criminals to me. As the office qualifies as Federal property, one could hope there might be much more for them to be upset about soon and for a few years to come. But don't hold your breath.
(AP) Vandals upset over the Iraq war defaced U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers' office overnight, a spokesman said Tuesday.
Rogers doesn't even support the surge.
Rogers has supported President Bush's decision to pursue the war in Iraq four years ago but has opposed Bush's recent plan to send extra troops to Baghdad.

I support American's right to disagree and even protest but this should not be protected as free speech or expression. It is nothing more than an attack on the government and should be treated as such.

This is obviously a Republican plot to make the anti-war majority of Americans look bad, to get sympathy for a failed plan of occupation.
Posted by: benrand | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 07:02 AM
Dan,
I respectfully submit that you and all other people who support the mission start referring to these thugs as anti-liberation. The war in Iraq ended April 9, 2003. What has been going on since then has been an attempt by terrorists to prevent the Iraqi people from being governed under the rule of law by a democratically elected government.
It is the case that if America withdraws before that government can protect itself and its electors the country may disintegrate into civil war. Given these facts the so-called antiwar luddites are in fact pro war.
They are also anti-liberation, anti-democracy and, ironically, anti-progress.

So much for you heros and your slogan that "These Colors Don't Run". Better get to Walmart and buy new sweatshirts.

BIS
Run out again, I see. Time to visit the pharmacy at Walmart.

Sad to see that ol' AlQaedaBob has chimed in with one of his typically stupid remarks.
Really Bob, haven't you got some madrassah to go to, or some effigies to burn at an ANSWER march, or one of Cindy Sheehan's toes to suck on?

Speaking of protestors. There's new information out about the Flock of Seagulls congregation from this past weekend. Remember that 30,000 figure that the Flock and Michelle Malkin claimed came from the National Park Service? Well, shockingly enough, they've changed their story! The Flock now states that the estimate is is "unofficial," leaving out all metion of the Parks Service entirely: http://gatheringofeagles.org/?p=191
But wait; there's more. Sadly No! has posted a letter from a Park Service spokesman, Mr. Bill Line. According to Mr. Line, no one from his office gave out any estimates and if anyone from his office DID give out an estimate, said person was not authorized to do so: http://sadlyno.com/archives/5434.html
One last thing. You know those petitions event organizers hand out and the online petitions the same organizers post so that they can guage attendance? Well, here's the Flock of Seagulls' online sign up sheet: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?GOE31707
A whopping 1,829 signatures. I guess this would explain why we haven't seen ANY photographic evidence illustrating the 30,000 attendees Malkin and the Flock invented in their heads, despite the fact that said evidence would be easy to come by. I mean, who would have thought that Michelle Malkin would make shit up just to attempt to inflate her own importance?

Back to the subject at hand, anti-war pro-facist assholes...
Can you support the troops yet burn a soldier in effigy?
Can you support the troops yet spit in their face?
Can you support the troops yet throw red paint on a "Support the Troops" banner?
Discuss...

Can you imagine the way the libs would howl if this was done to a Dems office. Or maybe this is what we should start to do since the left thinks this is a legitimate form of protest. I'd like to see the damage same well equipped vets could do.

A few notable ones were the guy dragging the US flag, all the anti-semtic protests, and "Viva Chavez"
There was a picture of protestors burning an effigy of a solder, and an American flag, but LGF is down right now...
These are all peace protests.
And Benrand, the answer is obviously no. Furthermore, I don't think that you can be a patriot if you wish for our troops do die, wish for the US to lose a war, or wish for the death of VP Cheney.

What are you if you wish for the death of a supreme court justice?
I know, it was just a JOKE, right.

"What are you if you wish for the death of a supreme court justice?"
Hmm, I dunno, what?
A lemur? Giraffe? Zebra? No, no no, a rhinoceros?
No no no...let's see, a gorilla???
No, that's not it...
An aardvark?

Unpatriotic.
Treasonous.
American Hater.
Terrorist.
The Enemy.

"American Hater."
Should this read: "America hater"

I guess this begs the question, "What if they held a counter-protest and nobody showed?"
But Barak Obama got a crowd of 20,000 ethusiastic supporters just passing through Austin, so I'm sure something as big and illustrious as a pro-war demonstration should have had at least that much support. Right?
Btw, how many people here attended the Gathering of Eagles? Just curious.

Wow, to read these posts, you would think that the GOP wasn't actually irrelevant these days. But, back in reality, they and their leader just don't matter much these days.
Posted by: Telly | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 09:41 AM
Obama got 20,000 in Austin, huh, Ziffynabster? That's how many unemployed drug addicts sit around the UT campus on a sunny day, Ziffy, so I'm not impressed. When he carries Texas in a general election, I'll revisit his popularity.
Meanwhile, back in reality, one hopes these thugs who think they can get away with damaging government property will be caught and prosecuted. All you libs who are so concerned about the "rule of law" don't seem to be that concerned. That "H" word comes to mind again.

that's the spirit fellas
keep showing your contempt for people who on their own dime and own time went to dc to support the us military and help prevent the vietnam memorial from being defaced
your mouth may say one thing but your actions are exposing your true agenda
it must be very frightening to realize that people are getting so fed up with your behavior that they are organizing to counter protest
the grass roots groundswell is growing and your free pass is expiring
mock them at your own peril, you will merely provide them with more reason to show up at the next one in larger numbers, and when they outnumber you on a regular basis cspan will no longer be able to ignore them and you will get your "unbiased visual proof"
ps it's a well known fact that the park service doesn't provide crowd numbers for several years now
obfuscate at will losers
Posted by: charles | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 11:14 AM
The left has kept up a constant theme that this is another Vietnam. They hoped to creat a certain narrative , but unfortunately for them people aren't going to give them a free pass this time. What we need to do is start protesting the homes of the prominent Libs and the companies that support them. We need to treat the radical college proffesors to the same kind of treatment that they encourge their students to commit.

If the GOP is so irrelevant then why do your do-nothing Dems keep issuing subpoenas over nonesense? Beats workin' I guess. Hey! What a great motto for the left; "Beat's Workin'"! It encompasses every aspect of your beliefs and so-called values.

Hey YYY, are you referring to the liberal who wished an early death on a Supreme Court Justice?
Posted by: Hard Right | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 12:20 PM
The reason sane people are not out protesting, defacing property, spitting on soldiers, burning them in effigy or running around with the Sheehan nut is because they are working and raising families. In other words they are the real Americans.

Better question: Why so afraid of subpoenas???

"The more of this, the better."
Red paint and cameras. The latest GOP recipe for success.

Not quite. The recipe for truth on all sides to be seen. Can't depend on the MSM, you know.

Ah yes, how dare we complain about baseless, politically motivated hate and harassment. (roll eyes).

I think he's referring to Julliane Malveaux, Esq wishing Justice Thomas would die of a heart attack.
Posted by: benrand | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 03:10 PM
The fact is we don't defend Coulter. We say it was a joke done in bad taste. As opposed to Kerry, "I apologize to NO ONE! NO ONE you hear me!!!!!"
Posted by: Jeff | Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 03:37 PM
That Malveaux bow-wow bi-yotch is the homeliest creature of her barely determinate gender [maybe "she" is a guy] on the tube. Fits with CNN's policy of ugly all around, including the creepy drunk who founded this loser enterprise.

You can also see the pictures of the Portland protests here, since LGF is down for right now:

Yes, burning a soldier in effigy, and holding a sign that says "F*&K the TROOPS!" It's a proud moment for the Left, as they let their mask slip and finally say what they really want to say!

"I think he's referring to Julliane Malveaux, Esq wishing Justice Thomas would die of a heart attack."
Bingo. I knew he wouldn't answer it since he wanted to try and smear Reps as the only ones using "hate speech".
