Update: This is back in the news due to a guilty plea. She could be looking at over 100 years.

LAURENS, S.C. (AP) — A former middle school teacher admitted Thursday she had sexual encounters with five teenage boys at her school.

Allenna Ward met the boys, 14 and 15 years old, at the school as well as at a motel, a park and behind a restaurant, according to arrest warrants.

Ward pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and three lewd acts on a minor. The remaining five counts will be dropped after sentencing, which will come following an investigation ordered by the court, prosecutor Jerry Peace said.

Who needs the three R's, when you have the three XXX's? Better make that five.

This individual claims to have gone to school with Ward.

They were all great christian people who I would not see doing anything wrong. One of the nicest families I have ever met, especially Allenna Williams Ward.

That settles it, I'm going back for my GED.

Ward, who is married, had sexual encounters with the 14- and 15-year-old boys at various locations, including in the school, at a motel, in a park and behind a restaurant, from December to this month, according to arrest warrants.

It's a shame, really. Too bad she didn't work for the ACLU, no one would ever know.

It's amazing the differences in comments posted on this general subject (older women taking "advantage" of younger boys) between groups. On a left blog, everyone of your commentors would be excorciated by females, with an occasional male speaking up to "agree completely".

When this first happened on a list I frequent (some guy made a joke about one of these cases) I was amazed at the level of disgust expressed. Thinking about it, however, I shourtly figured out what was going on. THis is a proactive response to protect the females "moral" position, in order to be able to flog the hell out of any male who committed any one of the myriad offences classed as "sexual harassment". If they didn't pipe up on these cases, they could be used as an example that perhaps some of this stuff is ridiculous.

I find it interesting the double standard that exists in people's reactions when the gender roles are reversed.

A female teacher in her 20s has sex with teenage boys and people joke about it. She gets a few years in prison and can reenter society with little real harm done to her reputation.

However, a male teacher in his 20s has sex with teenage girls and there are very few if any jokes cracked about it. The guy is simply labelled a child molester and everyone wants him locked up for life or castrated.

Nevertheless, I doubt this female teacher will receive the same punishment she would have gotten if she instead were a 25 year old male teacher who had sex with 5 young girls 14 to 15 years of age. The double standard exists even in sentencing. After the time is served, the stigma on the adult female is much less than that on the adult male.

I submit that 14 and 15 year old girls have the same mental capacity as 14 and 15 year old boys. So, why is it much worse when an adult male commits the crime with young girls, but there are frequent snickers and jokes all around when it's a woman in her 20s sleeping with young boys?

If we want to claim that girls 14-16 don't have the mental capacity for consent, and therefore are being raped, even if they say "OK, let's go" to an adult male, then the exact same rule must be applied to boys 14-16 when in the same situation with a female adult, no matter how pretty she may be (ref: Debra LaFave). Otherwise, the implication is that 14-16 year old girls aren't as smart and developed as much as 14-16 year old boys, and thus, need a higher degree of protection. The resulting horror from people must also reach the same level in both cases, or else we are hypocrites, guilty of a dangerous double standard.

As for this teacher, or any minister, priest, or boy scout troup leader who does such a thing, its quite a shame. It casts dispersion on all of these professions or callings. The vast majority 99.9% of whom are there to help.

Why is society easier on the female teacher ?

The "Summer of 42", "Tea and Sympathy" meme is common in popular culture. Knowing older woman gently initiates sensitive young boy into love. i.e. makes a man out of him so the encounter is entirely positive for him.

Add to that the fact that teenage boys are a penis, lots of hormones, and some marginal brain functions. Offer a teenage boy sex and his answer will be, hell, yes !

I think that if a young man has sex with an older woman, there is little, or no harm at all done to the young man. This is because culturally it is accepted that men can have sex and they brag about it (they are MEN!) and look forward to doing it. If a young woman does the same or brags about having many sexual partners...she is a slut.

Although the law is applied the same for both sexes, I truly think that women who have sex with younger boys should not be punished. I have no trauma about my 16 year old experience with a 36 old women. I have kept my mouth shut, I would never do anything to reveal her name because it was a beautiful friendship that I will cherish all my life. The sex was only a complement of our friendship and long hours of talk. I learned a lot from her in every aspect of life. The point you are all missing is why this is becoming so prevalent! Where do you think these female teacher "sluts" came from? They were the girls who were sluts when they were teens themselves! Its common knowledge that the majority of porn stars and strippers inherited their loose morals because of being "abused" at a young age, and any high school or college guy can tell you that the so called "easy girls" are the ones who started sex very young. Well as sexually active girls start having sex younger and younger, and then grow up to enter "respectable" careers such as teaching, why would anyone assume that morals would improve? For the last 20 years we as a society have embraced sexuality and this is the reward for that attitude. Honestly, the truth is there is no difference between an older female having sex with a younger male or an older male having sex with a younger female. The problem is that society overreacts to the older male situation. Thats total crap, if a girl is attracted to older men and likes sex with older men, then who cares?? I am not excusing rape, but lets face it, we are not talking about rape when the girl is 15 or 16 and is dressed like a Pussycat Doll, and meets a guy at the movies or the mall and "hooks up" with him in the back seat of his car. How can anyone say that type of situation is the same as a REAL child molester like John Couey?? Boys become interested in sex around 12 or 13 years of age, and if they can get laid they will do it, regardless of the age of the girl, or woman. Girls usually become interested in sex around 13 or 14 and they are just as horny as boys. If they are going to do it, then what difference is it what age the lucky guys are???

And before anyone flames me for being a pig male who objectifies females, I am a parent of 2 beautiful girls and 1 son, and I don't even for one second live in the fantasy that my daughters will remain virgins until they get married, or even until they are 18. Thats stupid to even think will happen, they are both very pretty and popular and all I can do is raise them to know the difference between a guy who really likes them and who wants to use them. My wife and I raise them to respect themselves and have high self esteem, and to not be ashamed of sex. The reason girls are more protected is because they can get pregnant and basically ruin their lives. With a guy, he can dip his wick and leave, thats the end of it. Thats all the mans involvement in sex is, in its most basic form.
