Well, isn't this special? So much for border enforcement. I've about had it with the wealthy in both parties who want nothing more than to continue welcoming cheap labor at the expense of the quality of life for average citizens, many of whom find themselves living with the day to day problems presented by an over abundance of illegal aliens in our society.
Bill Gates recently made a big deal about wanting more and more immigrants from Mexico. That's ironic considering he lives in a home protected by significant security measures, one that's an entire world away from where any illegal might be, unless they are doing his gardening, of course.
In many towns that have seen an influx of large numbers of illegals any quality of community life is gone and crime has been the main increase.
Documents released in the controversy about eight fired U.S. attorneys show that federal prosecutors in Texas generally have declined to bring criminal charges against illegal immigrants caught crossing the border — until at least their sixth arrest.
A heavily redacted Department of Justice memo from late 2005 disclosed the prosecution guidelines for immigration offenses, numbers the federal government tries to keep classified. DOJ officials would not say Thursday whether it has adjusted the number since the memo was written, citing "law enforcement reasons."

Come on zif, BiS, legal...Here is the abject PROOF that Dan is a racist monster! I mean, he has the audacity to report what is being reported! An outrage! Quick, meander through his previous posts to take obvious parody and use it to PROVE his racism!
Then again, my comment here is probably a full scale attack on your right to free speech so I better just shut up...

Dan, we'll make a old time conservative out of you yet (big grin). Dig a bit deeper and you'll find other fired AG's allowing marijuana smugglers being uncharged after being arrested with less than 500 lbs of pot coming across the border and AGs setting extremely high minimum limits for filing all sorts of charges in fraud, theft, and embezzlement cases.
And yes, President Bush and the Democrats terrible immigration policy has made a war zone of many cities across America. The shock was that less than 10 years ago most of us thought of Mexicans as honest, hard working, family oriented people and overlooked their illegal status on a daily basis. It's not so much that we have changed but the quality of the illegals sure has.

Republicans want cheap labor, Democrats want cheap votes...
If you haven't figured it out by now the House of Representatives has a very deceptive name.
I don't mind legal immigration, I'm an immigrant, but this is pathetic. Here is the only way I would accept a "fast pass to citizenship"
1. Learn English, stores no longer can have Spanish signage, or speak Spanish
2. Pay back taxes, and a huge fine (probably about $50,000 to cover the fence we will build, and to cover past law enforcement and detention - more than anything, its a fine)
3. Immediate deportation of anyone who lied on any type of legal document, or anyone with as little as a midemeanor.
4. No actual fast track, citizenship takes about 10 years for anyone else - however if you try and smuggle your own family in, you and your family get deported.
5. Have a prolonged Permanent Residency term, to allow extra investigation time.
6. If you fail the citizenship knowledge test... bye bye.

I'm a product of legal immigration, and I'm disgusted by the insane immigration laws. How many other countries have a rule that you only need to drop a baby, whether or not it was conceived here, to stay?
It's even worse our Congress sells out our national security by not closing the border. The terrorists appreciate that.

Jeff don't kid yourself. The DEMs are catering to the same fat cat corporations that want cheap labor too. One look at just who finances the Democratic Party will tell you that.

The easiest way in my opinion to stop the illegal invasion is to stop giving these people free banking.
No more cashing checks in the local Walmart/convience store/grocery store. You have to use a federally insured banking institution.
Require check cashing privledges to be linked with having an account in good standing that has been verified with proper ID (Birth certificate, SSN Card, Drivers licenses, State ID card, Passport, green card and visa) Nothing else is valid.
If these people cannot access cash to send home they will not come.
Get rid of birth right citizenship, it may have been good for 1836, now it is outdated.
Institute a policy of 10,000 immigrants per year, per country.

"One look at just who finances the Democratic Party will tell you that."
Soros, the guy who crashes world markets, who gets away with more tax shelters each dime he gives to the dems. Dems get a lot more Hollywood money, I would say that Republicans protect capitalism a lot more, and obviously if I am a businessman, I give to who has my back.
Question of the day.
Who saud that they want the government to "take the oil companies profits" and reinvest it in government projects?
a) Hugo Chavez
b) Rick Santorum
c) Hillary Clinton
d) Mamoud Ahmedinjad
e) Joseph Stalin
The answer: The biggest communist in the group.
And dems wonder why the republicans are getting big money from corps.

Geraldo Rivera at every possible chance mentions his brilliant talking point that soon we'll be eating $10 avocados if we don't keep the borders open. Two days ago, my grocery store was literally selling them for $1 a piece, and they were from Chile. Okay, so outsourcing avocado growing to Mexico or Chile isn't such a bad thing maybe.
But assume we outlaw foreign avocados for some reason and they truly do cost $10 a piece. IMAGINE how much money would be sitting there for anyone to pick! Farmers would have to install huge fences with razorwire. Farm workers could be paid $6 a piece to pick them - the worker would make something like $10,000 per week, and the farmer would still come out ahead.
Geraldo Rivera believes his own bullshit $10 avocado spin, that he just made up. The same goes for this $10 tomatoes and $10 heads of lettuce. Doesn't make sense. What an idiot.

As an economist this is my game :)
If agriculture prices rose a significant amount, it would be simple, inflation would rise until supply meets demand at the new price... of course then minimum wage must increase... eventually it all works out.
We are paying at least three times more for gasoline, and the country hasn't hit a recession, as some liberal economists suggested. Plus the current administration is so keen on on pulling trade barriers that we can get most of the crap that can be grown here elsewhere. So a few farms go bust, we are already subsidizing them so much... let them use the land for things that can be grown with very little labor, soy, wheat, potatoes, and who knows what else... We can get tomatos from Canada (where they somehow keep prices low without Mexicans) potatoes from Peru, Onions from Mexico...
Ya see Geraldo... you won't need to pay 19$ for a potato... maybe for a burrito...
