Amazing. The AP puts everything over the wire ... well, almost everythng.
Realizing we don't yet know all the details, apparently the AP has decided to not put the story of a Muslim cab driver running down two students after a religious dispute over the wire. Why might that be? They can't all be writing about Anna Nicole Smith?

Yes, the AP did a story early on. I'm talking about what goes over the wire to other outlets. If that went over the wire, you'd be seeing hundreds of hits. I didn't say they didn't write a piece on it. I saw that last night.

Very similar to the news blackout we have had on the shootings at the Trolley Mall in Salt Lake City, Dan. Where did the shooter get his guns and ammo? His father is convinced someone trained his son and helped him get a gun. Five people murdered and several others wounded in a public mall, and nothing. I've never seen a quicker blackout of a major news story.

As far as I know,AP does not dictate what stories other news outlets should run. They put it out and if the subscribing news outlet wants to run it, they can. Perhaps news outlets outside of Tenn. don't consider this a major story.

junius, news outlets submit stories to the AP, and it is up to the AP whether to put them on the national wire or not, or at least that was the case a few years ago when I worked for a newspaper. Things change, maybe someone else knows for sure.

Doesn't that kinda blow the whole argument about how "AP-Qaeda makes up anti-Bush news stories out of whole cloth and jams them down every paper's throat" out of the water?

What's the difference between making shit up or taking other people's shit you know is made up?

Contrast this to the Columbine shootings. It went on day after day, week after week, month after month. Every angle explored. White washing Islam, it's what they do. Cowards.
