Washington Post Warns The Dems

They might be in favor of de-funding the war, that isn't clear from this. What is clear is that at least they have the integrity to call Murtha and Pelosi on their playing politics with the surge while our troops are in harm's way.

If the Washington Post is willing to call BS on the Democrats in the House, it should be heeded as a strong warning. This will be worse than the way they McGovern-ed themselves in '68. At least then they took a principled stand. What they are about today is far from that. Ultimately, they could easily be exposed for the shallow, power happy mob that they are.

Mr. Murtha's cynicism is matched by an alarming ignorance about conditions in Iraq. He continues to insist that Iraq "would be more stable with us out of there," in spite of the consensus of U.S. intelligence agencies that early withdrawal would produce "massive civilian casualties." He says he wants to force the administration to "bulldoze" the Abu Ghraib prison, even though it was emptied of prisoners and turned over to the Iraqi government last year. He wants to "get our troops out of the Green Zone" because "they are living in Saddam Hussein's palace"; could he be unaware that the zone's primary occupants are the Iraqi government and the U.S. Embassy?

It would be nice to believe that Mr. Murtha does not represent the mainstream of the Democratic Party or the thinking of its leadership. Yet when asked about Mr. Murtha's remarks Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) offered her support. Does Ms. Pelosi really believe that the debate she orchestrated this week was not "the real vote"? If the answer is yes, she is maneuvering her party in a way that can only do it harm.

I wonder whether the momentum of the Democrats wish for failure in Iraq will even allow them to stop and think about what they are doing and have done. I doubt it. I think the hard left is now driving the Democrats, and they are now corrupted and influenced by the activists to the point of having lost control of the party.

Dems worst nightmare: David Petraeus.

If Petraeus delivers, as he's been doing, its going to be a very rough 12-18 months of campaigning and answering of thorny questions for a lot of dems.

I'm sorta confused. For the longest time, repubs have been in charge and basically screwing everything up. It has taken them about 5 years to do so. Then why now, only a couple months passed the election, are the dems constantly challenged to 'fix everything'? Wouldn't a patriotic and loyal american want to give the new legislature at least 6 months before hoping for failure? Dems have been patient watching the nation become ruined, can't the repubs be patient as well?

Cmon, brave con asshats 20K troops will only provide more targets for the goatherders to shoot at. This war was lost LONG ago. It's all about exit-strategy and the dems are not inclined to have your stammering leader leave with any dignity. He is a moron and a disgrace and is being treated accordingly. Amazing that 28% of America is so damn dumb. Complete the mission!

When polled, a clear majority of Americans oppose sending more troops to Iraq and believe invading was a mistake. A very large majority wants us out by the end of '08.

Who is closer to these positions? Murtha or the Rethuglicans?

Well, the Rethuglicans want to increase the troop levels and don't want a timetable for withdrawal.

In other words, the opposite of what the American public wants.

Who is out of touch, Dan?

Oh, and did Obama ever give that Koran back he borrowed, Dan?

Back in 2005, Murtha was the first major politican to call it a civil war. The wingnuts called him crazy, and out of touch. Turns out he was right and the wingnuts were wrong.

So, now it's 2007. Who should we believe is correct? Murtha, or the wingnuts? The question answers itself, doesn't it?

What pisses wingnuts like Dan off is the brilliance of the Murtha plan. It doesn't de-fund the troops in the field, yet it chokes off Bush's ability to send more there to act as cannon fodder.

So Dan, please explain why you are against the troops having a year off before they are sent back. And explain why you are against them not going back until it has been certified that they have the proper training and equipment.

Oh - right. You don't give a sh*t about the troops. Again, the question answers itself, doesn't it?

It's ok, Bob. Stay the course, as you are fond of saying. I, for one, am hoping and praying you continue to do exactly what you are doing. I hate it when the WaPo warns you. Complete the mission, Bob.

I think Murtha is crazy. Or senile. Doesn't matter, much, really, what I think. Even the WaPo is warning of disaster for the Democrats. I knew the Democrats would find a way to screw their chances up. I love it.

"Then why now, only a couple months passed the election, are the dems constantly challenged to 'fix everything'?"

Because they campaigned on it? Just a thought..

I excerpted and linked at New Dhimm Strategy: Betray The Troops -- Update 4. --- http://www.smalltownveteran.net/bills_bites/2007/02/new_dhimm_strat_1.html

Semper I -- http://www.smalltownveteran.net/bills_bites/2007/02/semper_i.html

Semper I is an old Marine Corps term applied to those selfish careerists who
place their own success ahead of their men and the wellbeing of the Corps.
Congressman John Murtha is a living example of that disgraceful term.

A bugle blows in Arlington,
Lilting notes fill still sad air,
An eagle's tears a globe fall on,
Trail an anchor with despair,
For a man we'd wish had not to die,
Brave youth among the best,
A Marine, he lived for Semper Fi,
And with Semper Fi he'll rest.

[...]

Semper Fi to all Marines everywhere from an old paratrooper who holds
Murtha in as much contempt as you do.

PA, and you and I believe the Democrats will keep their campaign promises....now don't we?

Because they campaigned on it? Just a thought..

So you can show us the words attributed to the dem congressperson who said they would fix it all in 2-3 months time? You claim the dems campaigned on the 2-3 month fix everything platform? Please show us where that timeline was spoken about in any senate or house race. Put some documentation where your big mouth has lead you. For the right, I guess it is all about you winning - even if America loses. What a sad country Bu$hco has made us.

Uh, Tom, that's strange talk for the side who has put winning over the safety and well-being of our troops. Yes, a very sad country, indeed.

Safety and well being of our troops??? 4 years in Iraq and nothing to show for it other than putting Americans in harms way. You cons are beyond belief.

Bob are you and Jane Fonda related? Why are you liberals so hot for our defeat?.....Templer any thoughts?

Newsflash, sheep. Bush's Iraq Adventure was lost a long time ago.

Newsflash, Enemy-Supporting-Bob:

No it wasn't. If the war were truly lost, our troops would have been pushed into Kuwait or Saudi Arabia. That would take both Sunni and Shiite factions to hook up together, and then a number of miracles of Allah to have them beat the heavy armour and other advanced weaponry we are fielding.

No, the only way theey can win is to inflict a "Death of a 1000 Cuts" in the field, and through the pernicious plottings of the Loony Left, and the deviously divisive decisions of the Dhimmicrat Party's Donkey Kongress.

seekeronos, a war is lost to a liberal before it begins. A liberal can't think of anything that is worth fighting for, and that is why any nation that comes under their control soon ceases to exist.
