Well, it looks like some blog has their, um, ------- in a twist because of this post I made.
When these arguments were promptly smacked down, one blog, by "writer" Dan Riehl, resorted to the old woman-bashing standard of calling Amanda ugly. Classy.
Some people respond by endlessly pleading for peace, some people just hit back. Frankly, I don't see the big deal. Some of AC's photos look good, some bad - but she's hardly an unattractive woman.
Here's what I said in the post:
On the one hand she portrays herself as part of the liberated female neo-castrati, but inside imagines herself as some vixen, her career existing a notch above the skin trade?
What I was pointing out was that endlessly hurling vulgar insults at men, constantly accusing them of objectifying women, but then going on to post an image of herself compared to a B movie skin princess appears emblematic of the usually disjointed, intellectually immature, confused and obviously un-informed, as well as tragically closed-minded personality type behind so much of Marcotte's vulgar prose we've all read plenty of recently.
That doesn't mean I'd throw her, or the complaining blogger out of bed. Unfortunately, given this:
She has a Masters degree in Women's and Gender Studies from Rutgers University
I'll just assume the self-obsession that propelled her to study herself in college, ugh, carries over to the bedroom so that she's either A: not much good as a partner, or B: without need of one, as her genderized-naval gazing has broadened since college.
But then most Leftist bloggers always look like they're playing with themselves, anyway - just as this one was when she wrote her mis-informed post suggesting I said something I never did.

Geez... Didn't you break down and admit that Amanda was not, in fact, comparing herself to Shannon Elizabeth, but merely expressing incredulity at the fact that a computer had evidently found the resemblance uncanny? I guess we've time-warped.
Once again: It's Not Just Wrong... It's Riehlly Wrong!™

of course you wouldn't "throw her out of bed"
that would ruin your chances of getting laid in the next 2.5 years according to my calculations of your ugliness

though i will say it seems dan successfully trolled someone into responding to his stupid with more stupid.
and seriously dan, please admit the truth, god you are such a troll

Sex is sex and politics is politics. Some women, are so odious that regardless of how physically attractive they are, you end up thinking that you wouldn't fuck them with someone else's dick.

they are the women who don't quite make it, those that give real women a bad name. Christ, no wonder half of them wind up being lesbians, nobody else would fuck em!

"they are the women who don't quite make it, those that give real women a bad name. Christ, no wonder half of them wind up being lesbians, nobody else would fuck em!"
Time to apply the old Glenn Reynolds rubric: will Dan Riehl condemn this remark, or -- gasp -- "fail to condemn" it?

Exactly Cindi, they are dogs. Unwashed, ungroomed dirty liberal wenches infected with everything from HIV to genital herpes. Of course, if the only thing you attracted were liberal, limp-wristed girly men filled with invective, you can at least sympathize with them on that level. Liberal women don't have much to pick from.

"What I was pointing out was that endlessly hurling vulgar insults at men, constantly accusing them of objectifying women, but then going on to post an image of herself compared to a B movie skin princess appears emblematic of the usually disjointed, intellectually immature [etc]."
Uh, how exactly? A computer program matched her face to those of several unlikely people, and she thought that was amusing enough to share. What does that have to do with being un-informed, immature or closed minded? Could you please articulate how one thing is related to the other, beyond just saying so.

I was gonna come over here and participate in some witty partisan bantering as part of the ongoing blogwars. But...it seems there are no wits to be found.
Liberal women are lesbians because they're ugly and no men would want them? Seriously? Is that the best you people can do? Pathetic.

that isnt what she did dan, but go on bemoaning it like a retard

Yet another example of political correctness! Now we can't even call the "visually challenged" Ugly?! What has this world come to? Now we can't even tell the truth anymore....
"Your ugly!"
"That hurts!~ I'm beautiful on the inside!"
"Then your a liar. Your denying my eyes the right to see the beautiful part and instead i'm stuck with this picaso of the human form."
"...."
"Yeah, thats what I thought."

Hey Kite, yur stupid
Posted by: alex | Tuesday, February 06, 2007 at 02:13 PM
Nuh uh!~
But anyways, that was meant to be absurd satire. Obviously my attempts at humor have left some jaded. Still, where was I wrong though? It's just the way it crumbles for some people...some people are ugly, some are not. I understand that it's not anything most people can help but on the other hand if your face looks like a foot then don't going around acting like your the most beautiful thing i've never seen.
Besides there are levels of ugly and beauty respectivly. There is ugly that ranges from the "eh" to the "O_o" and there is the "eh..cute" to the "Hot dang!"
Listen though....you can't just expect people to accept inner beauty when the whole process of attraction is started at the physical level. Unless your blind...your going to be biased on who you want to be seen with.

man, you stinking tool, dan.
you say some pretty stupid shit, but this takes the cake:
"I'll just assume the self-obsession that propelled her to study herself in college, ugh, carries over to the bedroom so that she's either A: not much good as a partner, or B: without need of one, as her genderized-naval gazing has broadened since college."
and you get in a tizzy when someone uses naughty language.
you should have your brain washed with soap, or perhaps a good dose of HCl.

So, is there any chance you'll deign to answer my question?

Dan, if Jessica Valenti, or any halfway attractive/successful/intelligent woman (and Valenti appears to be more than halfway all those things) is interested in having a partner, you wouldn't be the one picked, and that would be the case even if the woman is a conservative Republican. So you needn't ponder the issues of Jessica's sexual capabilities, partner prospects, or any matters of that sort. Go back to the blow-up doll, it's waiting for you in momma's basement.

In other words, a worthless degree.

Dan, I'd be careful if I were you. People have gotten in trouble for pretending to be 12-year-olds.

I thought this was a conservative blog. I expected the conservatives here to be Christians with decent moral values. But here I find all the conservatives - even the blog host himself - showing disrespect for women and calling people ugly and saying all kinds of cruel and unrepeatable things. I'm very disappointed, as would be your mothers.

"the self-obsession that propelled her to study herself in college, ugh"
Is that what you think of male historians or classicists?
Posted by: Georgia | Wednesday, February 07, 2007 at 03:53 PM
So you hold conservatives to a higher standard than liberals, is that what you mean, Where are the Christians? And conservatives and liberataians aren't necessarily Christian, either. So what's your point?
Posted by: templar knight | Wednesday, February 07, 2007 at 05:15 PM
Still no answer to my question, I see.
Posted by: Sophist | Wednesday, February 07, 2007 at 06:51 PM
"they are the women who don't quite make it, those that give real women a bad name."
Real women? Not giving a shit about your personal rights constitutes being a "real woman"? Shit when did I miss that memo? Guess I'll have to go trade in my vagina now...
And one thing I don't really understand is this: Why are so obsessed (yes, obsessed) with these girls' appearences? I mean, yeah, it's kind of interesting to attach a face to a voice you read, but it's not like your ever in a million years going to be in "bed" (as you put it) with either of these women, so how is it relivant? To anything?
And does "Geeze guys, I sure wouldn't stick my dick in this." really constitute a post? Sounds to me like you were just trying to start shit. Looking for attention because you know that in the "real world" these amazing self-respecting women who scare the shit out of you would never give you a second thought.

Sophist,
I don't think you'll get an answer. I assume the question in question (I made a funny, go me) is:
"What I was pointing out was that endlessly hurling vulgar insults at men, constantly accusing them of objectifying women, but then going on to post an image of herself compared to a B movie skin princess appears emblematic of the usually disjointed, intellectually immature [etc]."
Uh, how exactly? A computer program matched her face to those of several unlikely people, and she thought that was amusing enough to share. What does that have to do with being un-informed, immature or closed minded? Could you please articulate how one thing is related to the other, beyond just saying so."
I don't think there is an answer. At least, not in the realm of logic.

Wait, did five minutes just go by without her mentioning her degree in women's studies or bragging about how John Edwards was dumb enough to hire some banal teenage-esque political diarist? There. Fixed.
