Laughable, if it wasn't so pathetic.
WASHINGTON Feb 22, 2007 (AP)— Determined to challenge President Bush, Senate Democrats are drafting legislation to limit the mission of U.S. troops in Iraq, effectively revoking the broad authority Congress granted in 2002, officials said Thursday.
While these officials said the precise wording of the measure remains unsettled, one draft would restrict American troops in Iraq to combating al-Qaida, training Iraqi army and police forces, maintaining Iraq's territorial integrity and otherwise proceeding with the withdrawal of combat forces.
The officials, Democratic aides and others familiar with private discussions, spoke only on condition of anonymity, saying rank-and-file senators had not yet been briefed on the effort. They added, though, the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected to present the proposal to fellow Democrats early next week for their consideration.
This is a lot of fluff and bluster but I wouldn't look for it to ultimately have any real impact. Between the Republican delay tactics, a potential veto, a potential override and then a suit before the Supreme Court, all these idiots are really doing is distracting everyone from the work at hand to appease their cowardly, anti-war base.
While this silliness all plays out, things will go forward in Iraq. What matters is results, or a lack of them over time. If we can't turn it around, we'll be out no matter what. If we do, the Democrats will be left holding a losers hand come 2008.
Sad that a political party is willing to gamble its future on a loss by the US military, but not really surprising, given said party has been more interested in treason than national defense for almost two years.

Jehovah's Witnesses Fatwa for Inclusion: JHW congregation will no longer predict that only 144,000 saved will make it to Heaven. They've had too man doors closed in their faces, so they upped the number to 145,000.

Mormon Garment Fatwa: The Church of Latter Day Saints, in an effort to keep the homeless in their midst warm, will demand all garments be turned over to the We Care About the Homeless group in their church. Garments do not have to be washed, of course. Warmth is warmth, after all. However, in accepting the garments, the acceptee must convert and bring his ancestors with him.

Terry Gain writes: "The only way the gambler loses is if the pathological loser gets to abort the game. "
Uh, yeah, [laughing] that's exactly the way the pathological gambler sees it, and that's why we call the behavior pathological.
From his point of view, he's not a loser, no matter how far down he is, so long as he stays at the table. He can only be a loser if he leaves. Get it?
Whew. Next stop: rocket science.
