Yesterday I posted about the Taliban overrunning Musa Qala, possibly in retaliation for an attempted strike that missed Senior Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Gafoor. Well, today they didn't miss and reports indicate the senior Taliban leader is dead as the result of a precision airstrike.
Collins didn't immediately name the person killed in the strike, but Mohammad Wali, a Musa Qala resident, said the airstrike killed a Taliban leader named Mullah Abdul Gafoor and some of his associates while they were riding in a truck through a small village just outside Musa Qala.
American Gen. Dan McNeil takes command of NATO forces effective today in Afghanistan.

How long ago was the "War on Poverty" declared?

"How long ago was the "War on Poverty" declared?"
How long ago was the 'war on drugs' declared? The 'war on crime'? Are any of the three preceding questions relevant? No. Is the administration's repeated bungling of the war in Afgahnistan relevant? Of course - which is why you inject strawmen at ever turn, whenever the subject comes up.
Senior Taliban Leader Killed - great; how many more are lining up to take his place? How much of the country is actually controlled by the government? How's the heroin trade going? Can the country control its own borders?
I know, you prefer riehl questions, but try answering the real ones.

You can't put a timeline on a war of course. When we entered into previous conflicts no one stood up and said we would accomplish thus-and-such in one year, so-and-so in two years and so on.
The enemy gets a vote in war-maybe even the decisive vote. Tell us how we might achieve victory quicker, oh great Clausewitz of the comments page.

Of course you can't put a timeline on war. Tell that to the incompetent neo-con buffoons who thought it all up. If you want to talk about Clausewitz, you should really be directing your inquiries to the arrogant fools who roundly rejected every principle espoused by the man vis a vis running a war. The administration enlisted the help of a group of elitist academics with no experience to radically depart from the basic means of fighting one.
Start with knowing who your enemy is. Define him. And determine, according to the means of the state, whether or not it is realistically feasible to take him on.
Proceed to devising a plan toward toppling your enemy according to his weaknesses and strengths. In that plan, maybe think about considering where others have tried and failed. Just an idea.
Next, you know, actually mobilize the power of the state to implement your plan.
Occupations ALWAYS fail. Finally, don't try to occupy a country you don't understand, with a GROSSLY insufficient force. This kinda goes back to putting some effort into understanding how the Russians tried and failed in Afgahnistan - minor detail I know.

"Incompetent neo-con buffons" thought up war?
Color me shocked, but it seems that Legalize's plan for shortening the war is a little short on details.
Perhaps Legalize would like to tell us how he would keep a "sufficient" force supplied in landlocked Afghanistan.
