John Edwards: I realize Mandy and Mel may have been a little naughty. It bothered me, too. But should I hold these girls up to a higher standard than, say, Donald Trump might if they had won the Miss USA pageant? Don't you think they deserve a second chance? Come on ... they're only girls. How could they be expected to know how offensive their silly little playing around on the Internet all this time really was?
That's why I set them both down and gave them a real good talking to, believe you me. Both girls have promised never, ever to do it, again. And I want to believe them. Oh, I'll keep an eye on them, don't you worry. We're beginning a great debate in America and my little Mandy and Mel understand it's time to put the girlie talk away.
Amanda Marcotte: Thank you, Daddy. We wuz only kidding. And I pwomise, from now on, I'll be a super, extra special good little girl! :::blush:::
As I discovered in college - play a radical feminist just right, and many end up eating out of your hand. I think most of that venom is little more than protection, anyway. Unfortunately, when you grow up, the dysfunction can be a little too much to tolerate.
In a sense, Edwards has solved something of a problem for the Right - better he has to keep an eye on these two, than us. Don't lose too much sleep over it, John. The campaign fun hasn't even begun.

"As I discovered in college - play a radical feminist just right, and many end up eating out of your hand. I think most of that venom is little more than protection, anyway. Unfortunately, when you grow up, the dysfunction can be a little too much to tolerate. "
I think Dan just gave us a wee bit too creepy of an insight into why he hates feminists so much.......

Riehl just lost snapped a synapse. Either that or there's just a hell of a lot of frothy hate ozzing out of his ears.
Posted by: Legalize | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:38 PM
wow and i bet you were almost going to vote for edwards until you found out about this right dan?
let's forget all the real poor decisions the current president is currently undertaking and let's focus on something trivial the left is doing!
Goddamn you wingers are total failures. Not only does this "scandal" not even involved an actual democrat politician in office doing things... that you know... actually affect people's lives! but it's not even Edwards that's criticized, it's his blogger and the fact that she swears.
On the other hand, right wing bloggers can wish for the death of busloads of people they disagree with and still be "offended" a liberal "hate-speech"
please you are a parody of your movement

" . . . better he has to keep an eye on these two, than us."
And yet here you are, still keeping an eye on them.
Why don't you just ask Amanda out and get it over with?
Posted by: Doug | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:40 PM
Shorter Dan Riehl: Oh yeah, that'll show that Amanda Marcotte. I just slooooowly take my hand out of my pants now.
Posted by: Seitz | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:43 PM
"why he hates feminists"
Huh? I don't "hate" them. Not surprised, you missed the point.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:45 PM
not surprised you're bitter about bein ugly
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:47 PM
LOL Come on, two of your blog warriors just made asses out of themselves. All that truth to power was ... uh, suddenly not truth? Not defiance, refusing to bow to the PC? Well, too bad, because they just disowned it. See - they didn't "really" meant it! And you idiots are too stupid to be insulted, you just let them lie to you and say thank you, may I have another Ma'am! ha ha
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:52 PM
Alright, that's it, LOL. One of the feminazis is insisting that anyone using the word ugly has to post a photo of themselves. Just to make sure you are not butt ugly calling someone else butt ugly, which in the case of A. Marcotte just happens to be true. Someone, anyone....give that girl some makeup, and show her how to use it. Please. While I check into some Maybelline stock. Cause she's gonna need a lot of it.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 03:57 PM
"my blog warriors"
you know i'd actually never heard of pandagon or the fact that these gals were working for edwards until the wingtards brought it to my attention.
not kidding on this one buddy.
Did you mean it when you wished for a bus to kill anti-war protesters Mr Ugly?

"As I discovered in college - play a radical feminist just right, and many end up eating out of your hand. I think most of that venom is little more than protection, anyway. Unfortunately, when you grow up, the dysfunction can be a little too much to tolerate."
Ted Bundy called; he would like his creepy obsession with feeling impotent before women returned to him by the end of the week.

"I don't "hate" them."
Of course not, Dan. You just write post after post railing against the demons of your fever dreams cause you love them so much.
I'll bet you'd argue over whether it is a "manual earth moving implement" or "a shovel", too.
Posted by: RepusYort | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:00 PM
Liberals accusing someone of argueing. Pot, meet kettle.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:07 PM
And Legalize, I meant pot in the sense of a pot, not that stuff you abuse all the time, to your great detriment, I might add.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:08 PM
Its not that I'm accusing Dan of "arguing", I'm accusing Dan of attempting to argue via silly assed distinctions.
Do try and keep up Temps.

templar knight couldn't keep up with the meanderings of the back of a cereal box, much less this discussion
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:11 PM
Distinctions are very important, Repus, such as the one I just pointed out about your friend. Pot or "Pot", you get my drift. One is useful for cooking, while the other turns absolutely normal, good kids into raving liberals. Destroys brain cells, you know, or at least scientific studies show it has detrimental effects on the brain. And I know how much you respect science.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:14 PM
dan dan dan let me spell out your hypocrisy.
http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2007/01/think_positivel.html
Dan "Let's hope a bus hits 'em" Riehl is telling me that Amanda "Fuck BushCo" Marcotte writes offensive things on her blog? Did somebody beat you over the head with a shovel?
Of course, I shouldn't expect Dan "I hate comparisons to Hitler" Riehl to understand his own blatant and daily hypocrisy. Dan, it's this simple, as bad as some of the things marcotte said, she never, for exampled, wished death upon the Duke lacrosse players. You however, did.
Oh but i guess you "didn't "really" meant it!"
Right?
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:17 PM
Hmmm...interesting view point. The more my friend smoked in high school the more incoherent he became....but then he went to acid, the speed, then meth. Then he had a heart attack and got clean and doesnt spout all that nonsense anymore. Interesting parallels!
Yet another attempt at humour. I apologise if it doesnt tickle your fancy :P
Posted by: Kite | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:19 PM
These liberal boys must be smoking pot by the ton, Kite, as incoherent as they have become. When Dan is the blogger of record for a presidential campaign, these boys can come back and criticize, but until he is, they are just sucking hind tit.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:24 PM
true, dan riehl is the "hind tit" of the wingnutosphere, and you guys are TK, Kite and Illiterate Avenger seem to be his lead sycophants.
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:26 PM
Can't come up with anything original, huh, LOL? All those dead brain cells are starting to take a toll, I see, but it's not too late. Turn yourself in, enter rehab, and pray for the best. Miracles still happen. Oh, I forgot, you don't believe in God, do you? Well, look on the bright side, you'll make good fertilizer, as full of it as you are.

"These liberal boys must be smoking pot by the ton, Kite, as incoherent as they have become. When Dan is the blogger of record for a presidential campaign, these boys can come back and criticize, but until he is, they are just sucking hind tit."
Ok Templar, how about McCain's hiring of Terry Nelson?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:38 PM
i remind you templar knight that "pot" is not made of fertilizer. does it bother you that people are right now getting joys from things you will never know?
Posted by: LOL | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:41 PM
This thread is teh awesome. If for no other reason than the embarassingly revealing projection so many of you are engaging in.
"Distinctions are very important"
Some disctinctions are important. The distinction between the front of a gun and the back gun, for example.
Some distinctions however are assinine. The distinction between "hate" and whatever your supposed to call "writing multiple topically silly-assed spittle flecked screeds regarding the demons of his fever dreams" for example.
You're welcome Temps.
Posted by: RepusYort | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:44 PM
I'm sure Templar has no objections to sitting back with a highball of Johnny Walker no damage caused by booze right?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 04:44 PM
So many questions? Here's a few answers.
1. I do not drink. Haven't since my college days.
2. "Does it bother you that people are right now getting joys from things you will never know?" Uh, no, and only someone with his or her mind altered by a drug would even ask such a question. Sad, really.
3. Hate and "writing silly-assed screeds" are completely different, or every one of you would be haters of the 1st Degree.
4. And no, pot is not made of fertilizer, I was referring to the "shit" you are full of that makes you a candidate for growing alfalfa in half the time. Quite a distinction, I might add.

1. I do not drink. Haven't since my college days.
About the same time I quit smoking weed, guess we're even.

Posted by: TheSpartan | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:07 PM
Oh, I missed your question, spartan. I have no idea who Terry Nelson is. But if he wrote things such as these:
1. Liberals are only good for stopping bullets.
2. Liberals are nothing but a bunch of sick inbreds.
3. Liberals all live in slums and barrios, impregnate their mothers and sisters, rarely bathe, and do nothing but draw welfare.
he should be replaced.

"Hate and "writing silly-assed screeds" are completely different, or every one of you would be haters of the 1st Degree"
If you're going to use quote marks, Temps, you might actually want to actually quote something. In this case the actual quote was "writing multiple topically silly-assed spittle flecked screeds regarding the demons of his fever dreams", which was juxtaposed with "hate". Dan tried to make a disctinction between the two. I maintain that there is no difference of consequence between the two.
If I were to say, log onto a photography blog and read a buunch of "multiple topically silly-assed spittle flecked screeds regarding the demons of his [The bloggers] fever dreams" regarding black and white photogpraphy, the obvious assumption is that the blogger hates black and white photography.
And I'd be right. The only difference between our hypothetical photoblogger and Dan is that our hypothetical photoblogger doesn't need to obfuscate, waive hands or be as disengenious as Dan's been to make his point.
Posted by: RepusYort | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:14 PM
Well, Repus, I admit I got lazy. I had to go pick up my daughter at school, and when I got back I was in catch-up mode. Irregardless, hate is a strong word, and I doubt you really know what Dan's feelings are. And I realize grasping straws to prove a point is indicative of the blogosphere, but I also know most people say a lot of things over the internet they don't really mean. I'm sure you have, and so have I.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:21 PM
Saying something you don't mean a time or six over the intarwebs is one thing.
Saying it repeatedly and as often as you can, is another entirely temps.
Posted by: RepusYort | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:25 PM
Hell, Repus, you'd probably think I hated liberals if you just read some of the things I say, but in reality, I love liberals, as I would have no one to spar with if they didn't exist. A good arguement is my tonic, or Johnny Walker if you will. I have a feeling Dan likes to argue as well, or he would just delete the comments of the liberals on his blog.
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:32 PM
"When Dan is the blogger of record for a presidential campaign, these boys can come back and criticize"
So your point is that Dan Riehl is completely irrelevant? We may have more points of agreement than previously contemplated!
Posted by: Jamie | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:33 PM
Then, Jamie, you're saying that everyone who is not a "blogger of record for a presidential campaign" is irrelevant?
Posted by: templar knight | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:37 PM
Having Dan "Macaca wins!" Riehl endorse your campaign is already a kiss of death.
Paying him? That's just suicide.
Posted by: scarshapedstar | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:39 PM
"Hell, Repus, you'd probably think I hated liberals if you just read some of the things I say, but in reality, I love liberals, as I would have no one to spar with if they didn't exist."
The difference between you'n'me and Dan, Temps, is that we're not deciding the topics to argue over. Dan is. He gets to decide the topic, and his reoccouring selection of "Feminists" as a general topic of discussion, coupled with his actual contribution to the discussion of feminists belies any claim to being anything but 1. decidedly creepy or 2. disengenious to a degree unseen since "I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinski".
Just sayin.
Posted by: RepusYort | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:41 PM
"When Dan is the blogger of record for a presidential campaign, these boys can come back and criticize"
Why would a real blogger want to do that? All you are is a flack. And it doesn't matter which party or candidate you "blog" for - you aren't blogging ... you're filling words in around talking points. Do you idiots have any sense at all?
It needn't be a bad move if you want to mainstream .. and be bored. But you really think someone who screamed all the time is going to like transcribing what the campaign tells her to?
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 05:44 PM
Great point, Dan. Anyhow, it's been fun, but life always intrudes. My son has a basketball game. Later!

This was an interesting test for Edwards. In the long run the results will probably be more positive to his campaign than any negatives.
However, Edwards' critics are worst off in the long run.
In this case it looks like Edwards' critics helped Edwards.

Terry Nelson was responsible for the "Call me" ad in the Tennessee Senate race, was involved in the NH phone jamming case and with Tom Delay's shady dealings. Now he's a senior advisor to the McCain campaign. So Edwards gets nailed for hiring people who speak ill of the opponant while McCain hires a guy who has actually been involved in potentially criminal acts, which is worse and which is the supposedly liberal MSM reporting on?

"the results will probably be more positive to his campaign than any negatives."
I can wait to see who he'd pick for cabinet posts if he'll tolerate this level of derangement in campaign staff.

Could it be worse than Michael Brown and Harriet Meiers?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Thursday, February 08, 2007 at 08:01 PM
Spartan,
Those weren't cabinet officers, but since you made a nice try: the answer is "of course." Especially since Two America's bench will consist so heavily of the bigfoots of ATLA.
Cordially...
Posted by: Rick | Friday, February 09, 2007 at 04:33 PM
OK, my turn: Worse than Donald Rumsfeld and Gale Norton? Maybe not the top of the heap in terms of "derangement," but they'd certainly be leading the pack in terms of "incompetence."
