Dems Next Step Isn't Surrender

Now that the House votes are cast, see Hugh Hewitt and links, if you think the Democrats are going to get painted into an anti-war corner, as this article suggests, I'd wager you're wrong. And it is going to take a great deal to win the next step in this debate - if it's winnable at all. It is going to be infuriating to watch, especially as the media is going to help them out.

We are going to begin seeing more and more articles of troops rushed into or back into battle ill-prepared to accomplish their task. It will take the form of everything from a lacking in armor for Humvees, to a shortage of vests. Also as the surge model likely relied on a smaller number of support troops, the Democrats and some gutless Republicans are going to start making the case that it is irresponsible to put additional men in harms way. And you know as well as I do the media is going to love running with that story as they continue on blaming Bush.

If they succeed, the story line is not going to be that the Democrats aren't supporting the troops. It will be that an out of control President is willing to place them too much at risk to try and save his Presidency, while the Democrats are stepping in to save read support them.

It would be wise for Bush to begin preparing to rebut the charges he's about to face, as they are sure to come. And we'll be reading them on the front page of the New York Times.

I think it's a great move on the part of the Dems. It reinforces that this is the GOP's war and the GOP's surge and only they can be held accountable for the outcome. Based on what's gone on in Iraq over the last 4 years, there is no reason to believe that the situation will improve.

The Republican-American majority had five long years to win the War on Terror. Clearly, they were not up to the job. Iraq is a mess and Afganistan is falling apart. International relations are a joke. Our Secretary of State is a laughing-stock. The former USSR scores rhetorical points bashing the bastion of liberity for being incompetent and corrupt.

Face it, Dan. Republican-Americans just aren't fit to hold office. They're not college educated. They don't know how to put in a full 40-hour work week of labor. They steal. They lie. They're prone to violent outbursts and use the most obscene language. Republican-Americans count child-molestors and prostitute hiring meth smokers in their ranks. They tend to be old, fat, and pasty-faced. They smell funny. And its generally acknowledge that they can't swim.

The Republican-Americans cut spending and ran our military into the ground. In short, they are the real cut-and-runners. Now its time to give the rest of the country a fair shake at governing. I can only hope that the Republican-American caucus doesn't use its disproportionate influence in government to hamstring the work of good, honest, hard working United States officals. Together we can win this war and come home, Dan. If only you'll work with us and show that you love America as much as we do.

Yeah, Dan, us liberals gave you at least 3 weeks to win the war in Afghanistan, and what did you do? You won it, damn you. We were hoping for thousands of body bags to come back from Afghanistan, and what did we get? Fucking celebratory rednecks.

Obviously, this war went completely wrong from the start, as our jihadist friends hardly lived up to their potential, but they did learn a few things. They knew to never stand up and fight these rednecks face-to-face, or they would get their asses kicked, which we could have told them if they had just asked. Sheesh!

But we bided our time and kept hope alive, just as Bro. Jesse taught us to, and behold, another war came along. We were ready this time. Even though the war went badly for our friends from the very start, one of the allies of the evil empire...uh, the US, refused to let its territory be used to invade Iraq, and we saw things might not go as well this time.

The situation in Iraq started off badly for us, but a couple of bad personnel choices, and the strange behavior of the Shites trying to get at their Sunni tormenters gave us our chance.

We gave a Sunni insurgency all the moral support we could, using them as our reporters and photographers, and lavishing awards on their work, even when it was staged and photoshopped. Hey, we had been getting away with it for years, so if it worked for us, why not for them. And since we already controlled most of the media, we made short work of the critics, except for those pesky bloggers. We'll shut these guys up to, just as soon as we get a liberal in the WH. We've already shut them up to a great extent during the election cycle, and you see how well that worked out for us, well, that, and the felons and illegal aliens voting in record numbers, and then all these fine people who voted for us multiple times was great, too.

Anyway, let's just say that today's vote in the House is a culmination of 4 years of hard work to get the McBushCo. Hitlerburton out of the WH and us in. Then it's happy days are here again!

And don't you dare question our patriotism, Dan! Actually, we hate that patriotism shit, we just pretend we are patriots to fool the inbreeds and rednecks. And hey, it's worked for years. Anyway, we are much cooler than the Republican-Americans, and we want to coexist with everyone, even the ones who hate us and want to destroy us. They just need a little love, and we can pay them off if necessary, so why worry.

The thing the liberals are not taking into account is how pissed off the returning troops are going to be. I mean I talk to many of my friends that are in the millitary both here and over there and they are not happy with this. What are the Dems going to do when these guys get home and start talking to everyone about how the Dems stabbed them in the back and how big of traitors they are. The Dems will not be able to blow off vets how stand up at town hall meetings in the middle of campaing season and call them traitors to their faces. I get an image in my head of very violent confrontations at these things.

His was not exactly a new statement. It's about as original as "liberalism=socialism=nazism=communism, any liberals care to argue with that? (pause) No? You're all fascists!"

Furthermore, I have a friend in the military who says the Iraq war is - verbatim quote - "bullshit". And as a whole, just like the rest of us, the majority of the military thinks that Bush and the Republicans are the ones who fucked things up.

You 28 percenters can dream all you want, about how returning veterans will sing the praises of a guy who's cut veteran funding every time he's gotten the chance and now pretty much packs them into ghettos:
