Not sure what to make of this pessimistic report via McClatchy - see Allah, something seems strange:
“All of our friends who have been killed by (roadside bombs) and snipers, it’s like there’s no justice for it - it’s just another body bag filled,” [Sgt. Chance Oswalt] said. “The guys who died just trying to stay alive and get home, they’ll be forgotten. No one will remember their stories.”…
Read on its own, that sounds like a damning comment on the war, but is that the full intent?
Dear Mrs. Carlson,
My son, Chance Oswalt(Ozzy) served with Michael in Baqubah. He was in the other Bradley during that mission. When the boys were in Iraq, I had a blog I would go to to find out what was happening in the area they were working. Chance couldn't believe how accurate the information was. I was up late the evening of the accident and read about it before any names were mentioned. I knew in my heart it was their platoon because of the location. It was 2 days later before we heard from Chance with the news about Michael and the others. We had the privilege of meeting Jeremy Kane-one of the survivors-and felt as though we'd met a miracle. I know Michael was a miracle too because of who he was, his devotion to his fellow soldiers/brothers in arms and his desire to serve. The boys were going to Dallas to visit another platoon member, Robert Boeder. They had planned a Cancun trip.Chance was reassigned to another unit after his was decommissioned following their return to Vilseck. He reinlisted after the service for Michael and the other soldiers while in Baqubah. He has since gone through Air Assault School, was moved to Schweinfurt, Germany, has been promoted to Sergeant and will be returning to Iraq in late July or August.
We grew attached to Fox News during that year and even though he's been back since Feb.21st 2005, we listen, watch and continue to pray for our soldiers.
We were deeply saddened by the news of the death of the boys, and my heart aches still when I hear of the loss of another mother's son.I have long wanted to write to you and didn't know how until I found this site today when online. I ask that you pray for Chance and the others going back to Iraq.
May God continue to comfort you and your family in the knowledge that while Michael is not here, you will see him again as promised.
Sincerely,
Craig and Jan Oswalt

Does he have a choice?
