It's amazing reading the post resignation blog entries of Marcotte and McEwan, not to mention the unhinged Lane Hudson who puts the icing on the victimization cake by claiming their lives are somehow endangered.
McEwan: This was a decision I made, with the campaign's reluctant support, because my remaining the focus of sustained ideological attacks was inevitably making me a liability to the campaign, and making me increasingly uncomfortable with my and my family's level of exposure.
What was it McEwan thought she'd be entitled to as a blogger for a Presidential campaign? A free pass? Most every blogger gets unhinged email and certainly one would expect more given the visibility they sought. However, Marcotte and McEwan thought it was going to be a free skate? How silly.
The always more hysterical Marcotte quotes a number of emails, some on par with her own usually vulgar prose. And both these bloggers who were given a great opportunity to stand up for what they allegedly believe in, doing it in a very visible way, elected to quit - after Edwards made the decision to stand behind them.
But I shan’t belabor the point. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the hate mail the Bill Donohue’s “Christian” campaign against me has inspired. This is all stuff from days ago—I’ve gotten more than 100 since. Hell, from the looks of my email from last night, I’ve had more than 100 in the past 12 hours from self-proclaimed Christians who want me to know that I have hurt their feelings and this has nothing, nothing whatsoever to do with their own misogyny and tendency to witch hunt.
For all intents and purposes they had arrived and presumably precisely where they had planned to be. But instead of simply buckling down and doing their job, getting it done, so to speak - both bolted for the door, their persecution in tow to give them that much more ammunition to continuing attacking groups and individuals which they have enjoyed attacking all along.
There's a lesson in this. And it isn't how evil or mean can be the Right. We all know both sides have their unhinged elements capable of writing pathetic emails, or issuing mostly ridiculous threats. The lesson is represented by the decision both Marcotte and McEwan willfully made - to play the victims and lose, as opposed to coming out on top. Ironic that it mirrors the strategy their former boss and other prominent Democrats embrace when it comes to Iraq.
Those who embrace losing and opt to fall back into comfortable patterns of laying blame and casting aspersions are not what America, or American politics is about. And such people will never be content, or ultimately get their way. It's time to let Marcotte and McEwan know they've had their fifteen minutes of would be Presidential fame. No doubt some Left wing publication will eventually pick them up as the latest banner children for their basically defeatist-minded cause.
As for those who prefer winning over losing, going forward to looking back, standing for something, as opposed to running away and blaming others along the way (I'd likely include Edwards in that mix) - it's time to move along. Nothing to see here any more, folks, just Liberalism in the form of two more individuals who wanted to grab at the brass ring, provided it was convenient, close and came without a cost.

If a few hundred hate mails chase you away from a presidential campaign, you simply ain't got the guts for it. I can't imagine the hate mail volume the white house gets every day.

These bloggers are a mere reflection of today's Dem Party.

How Drudge of you to say so Darth! Why you are trying your best to be as mislead as Dan.

"Why you are trying your best to be as mislead as Dan." Huh? That didn't make any sense.
Anyway, I've been wondering, why is it considered a "right wing smear" to accurately quote one of their posts?

"why is it considered a "right wing smear" to accurately quote one of their posts?"
Its in the MSM bylaws(2001 revised edition), section 3 paragraph 4: "Liberals shall not be held accountable for anything they say"
Sorry dood - its the rules.

Donnie you need to have a chat with Edwards about his choice of bloggers.I or Dan for that matter did not make them spew that anti-Christian bs.

So true, So true. Whats really funny is that even as the ship is going down she's still shaking her fist at the sky, damning all us "Witch-hunters" for not doing anything other than pointing out her hate-filled rhetoric.
Another obvious tactic of the left - "Shift blame to wherever blame can be shifted" Because...we all know that it wasn't Marcotte's fault she posted all that mess. Oh no! She was so OPPRESSED by the Catholic church that she just had to stand on her lil ole itty bitty soap box and shout it.
Anyways, Glad to see the harpies leaving the edwards campaign. Perhaps now without anyone giving the Edwards camp any limelight they can just fade in to obscurity as well.

All you effing wingnut Christofacists misogynist POS are really mean.

"All you effing wingnut Christofacists misogynist POS are really mean".
It's so nice of you to say so, Bandit. It's words such as these that got your hero Amanda in trouble, not anything the effing wingnut Christofacists POS's did. Edwards would not have had any trouble with her at all if she had not written hate-filled screeds similar to what you just wrote.
So take a lesson from this, Bandit. If you want to ever work in a Presidential campaign, ixnay the atehay. And if you just want to appear the hate-filled bigot you obviously are, continue on, my man, you're there.

Wow. I've never read Dan Riehl before, but now I see what the fuss is all about.
You really are an angry, unhappy, bitter man, aren't you Dan? Only someone with real hate in his heart could exhibit such a shocking lack of empathy. I hope you can turn that around at some point.
For your own sake.
Posted by: Mike | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 11:59 AM
Hey, Mikey. Empathy huh? Empathy means putting yourself into the place of another so as to feel the way they feel or think as they are thinking. You know, like what you do with George Bush and the former Secretary of Defense. Gee, I sure wish I could muster up some empathy for your friends, but I just can't seem to get there.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 12:32 PM
What a class act! You can't get someone you disagree with fired, but by god if they want to keep their job they're going to have to deal with threats of rape and murder (which are of course exactly equivalent to saying mean things about the baby jesus).
Way to go, douchebags! Nothing disproves claims of misogyny more than rape threats, amiright, guys?
Posted by: Grendel72 | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 12:33 PM
Ahhh yes, a "shocking lack of empathy". Really? Your claiming Dan is the one with the lack of empathy? The one with a hate filled heart? Are you on crack?
Marcotte and her blogger friend go off on an anti-christian hate filled rant and get exactly what THEY deserved and you have the testicular fortitude to come on here and claim DAN is the one with the lack of empathy and love?
The liberals never fail to shock me. What will they do next? Try and convince us that killing babies isn't murder?!?!

Christians are hate-filled goofballs who believe in a skygod.
The bloggers were right. Nothing can take that away from them.
Posted by: nogodsb4me | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 03:21 PM
"The bloggers were"
Just two more loser Liberals without the strength to stnd up for their cause. They caused Edwards no end of grief and then they abandoned him in the end. That's why neo-Liberalism ultimately collapses in upon itself. It's a weak ideology.
Posted by: Dan Riehl | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 05:00 PM
Dan, you really don't believe any of this rubbish you shovel behind the garage, do you?
Posted by: Ben | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 05:17 PM
Now , Ben, Mike is calling for empathy. You aren't showing a heck of a lot of empathy. Come on now feel some pain.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 05:41 PM
Grendel, which of us do you suppose made death threats? I really don't believe anybody here did that. Isn't that more like Kos's or Atrios's style? Just a question.
Posted by: Fred Beloit | Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 05:46 PM
If pain were currency, I'd be rich beyond my wildest dreams.... and I majored in empathy at Trade Tech. Just don't have to be a farmer to smell BS when the wind blows my way.

"Nothing to see here any more, folks, just Liberalism in the form of two more individuals who wanted to grab at the brass ring..."
Now, Dan, I really must take exception to you characterizing a couple of hate-mongering reactionary leftards as examples of Liberalism. Sure, they do provide two more data points demonstrating that there's very little that's Liberal about contemprary lefists, but in all their words and deeds, they seemed to have evidenced absolutely nothing that is consistent with genuine Liberalism.

"Christians are hate-filled goofballs who believe in a skygod."
No, we don't belive in any sky gods. You must be confusing us with practioners of Paganism or Asatru or some other religion. As someone who has probably rejected God, and particularly the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob... I can understand your confusion (Satan enjoys keeping people ignorant and confused and away from the truth).
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Risen Son of God the Father, who was begotten of the Holy Spirit.
As for "hate", the only thing we are commanded to hate is sin, particularly sin in our own lives. As for other people, Jesus commands us to love them as we love ourselves.
Indeed, if Jesus were as hateful as some folks like to make Him out to be, I hardly think He would have bothered to leave Heaven, be born of a virgin, live on this earth with people trapped in sins, only to die a horrible death at thier hands to complete God's plan as a perfect sacrafice for those sins.
Nah, if He were that hateful, He would have stayed put in Heaven and enjoyed the show once God destroyed us in righteous judgments for our sin.
Also, bear in mind that there are a lot of folks who call themselves "Christians", but do not really bother much to obey Jesus's commandments.
