Just for the record, I was a bit surprised to see this:
I've customarily avoided commenting on anything having to do with bloggers of the same general political persuasion taking potshots at each other, especially when I've always had friendly relationships with them.
The above in response to this by me and this by Ace. So, let me put the record straight. And if someone read subsequent posts on both blogs, here and here - it shouldn't be hard to figure out, as we linked news items on one another's blogs after both posts.
Yes, I designed Ace's Death Card. It'll sound silly, but at the time I felt honored to do it, both because of Ace's reputation in the blogosphere, as well as my admiration for his blogging. Hell, I even did it for myself. I saw it as a way to gain some visibility in my earliest days of blogging, when such things might seem to matter quite a bit - perhaps too much.
In my opinion, over the long haul, I've found few bloggers with the wit, imagination and creativity, as well as knowledge in certain, okay, admittedly sometimes geeky or arcane areas, as Ace. His blog keeps me coming back and reading because he's good.
As for his post on my Tigger thing ... well, I actually had the same observation at the last minute before posting. But, pressed for time and getting over a cold ... I said, what the hell. I mean, who really gives a chit about Tigger, anyway?? Huh?
I thought his post calling me on it was funny as hell. And that's the reaction I conveyed to him in return email when he sent me the link.
More than perhaps any other person, Ace did more in my early blogging to bring me along as far as links and traffic, etc. That kindness has never been forgotten. And my admiration for his blogging has never changed.
Get over it, folks ... as far as I'm concerned, the whole thing was nothing but a silly joke. Yes, the world is facing great challenges right now, particularly in our domestic politics, and, of course, Iraq.
But, sheesh, people have to lighten up, sometimes. As much as blogging is hard work ... it also has to be fun. Hopefully, as I can't speak for Ace, those two posts were simply that and nothing more ... Ace and I just having a little fun while, perhaps, magnifying some little bits of truth about one another for humor's sake.
My high regard for Ace and his blogging hasn't changed a bit.

I don't know what it's a testament to - your personal, wise credibility; my gullibility; my embarrassment at laughing over Ace's post making fun of you thinking it was hilarious only to see your supposed umbrage at it; the shortage of irreverence here - no insult - just that you tend to be serious most of the time; or what.
But this much is true. It upset me.
It also upsets me that you seem to be mocking those of us who got upset.

To be fair - and self serving, that some took it so seriously I take as a compliment to bringing it off.
At the same time, such things can be walking on thin ice, I guess. But I like Ace and see him as regular people. So I personally don't have a problem playing it that way. I hope he doesn't feel differently. Readers also wouldn't have known that he sent me the link and said "take it in the sipirit with which it was meant." And I responded with a laugh.
I'm a puzzle guy. And sometimes when you start taking things apart, you lose sight ofthe bigger picture, or don't see the truth. ANyway, no offense intended. I just didn't want people thinking I had any bad feelings with Ace over his post. I laughed when I read it, which isn't to say it didn't contain some truth. That's usually the basis for the best humor, in my opinion.

Some hip and cutting edge sage named Gavin over at Sadly No! seemed to believe there was a big ugly "Celebrety Deathmatch" between you two, as well. He has since updated to say it was just a prank.
The commenters seem to think it was a trap.(?!)

If only more flame wars (atleast among righties)were just a couple of schmucks goofing on eachother. Both posts made me chuckle. I may be gullible, but not that gullible.

Could I suck Ace's balls dry, please?
