Hit by a bus? Only if Laura Bush is drinking and driving again.

... "who" hate America, not "that" hate America.

"who" hate America, not "that"

I'm not willing to concede that they're human.

Nice to see a fan of free speech and american values....if you don't like protesters why don't you move to china...you obviously have no understanding of the constitution. By the way 70 percent of the country think the war is wrong so crawl back into your hole with your cowardly, backwards friends.

crawl back into your hole

Nice to see another fan of free speech, too. ; ) Like I said, have a nice day.

Also among the march will be veterans,/i> Dan. You know, "moveon types that hate America and American values".

Perhaps you would like to meet them personally and repeat what you said.

There will definitely be Veterans marching and protesting. So my question to you is, "Why do you hate the troops?" and "Why do you wish harm to our troops?" My, oh my, would Bill O. be proud.

Not just veterans, but current military members who have been to Iraq. So why DO you hate the troops?

http://www.appealforredress.org/index.php

Dan just shows the typical highmindedness of the 28 percenters.

He hopes those people protesting the war are hit by a bus. He doesn't say if he hopes their injuires are fatal or not.

He also, as per usual, repeats the lie that the majority of military favor the surge and support the war, that is patently false based on the most recent survey, only a minority still support the war.

And for good measure, he throws out an insult by calling them vermon. It goes without saying that he also calls anyone that doesn't support his now discredited world view as unpatriotic.

Some things never change.

Yea Dan,

Please go repeat what you wrote to any one of the veterans marching- please do not pick one in a wheelchair or missing more than one arm. Invite a friend along to video tape it, then post it to your website. We'd all like to see just what kind of man you are.

R.Mutt

I have no intention of insulting veterans, as I am one. It's unfortunate that individuals who never actually support them have no shame in using them so. The veterans earned their right to speak out, which is more than I can say for many of the would be demonstrators.

Why don't you guys/gals check out re-enlistment rates. It tells quite a different story on troop support. It might also be helpful to read the post all the way to the last paragraph.

Dan, you are a modern karnak.

Oh, and you trolls forgot to say chickenhawk! Jeez, memorize the talking points. Shouldn't take more than a week.

Being a fan of free speech, I think this post should be on the front page of every American newspaper. Maybe even reprinted and handed out as tracts, that way the all of the American people can see what understand, only Reihl Americans love America and it's values, all the rest should ..........?

BTW I do remember the Vietnam war it would seem that we got our way and well it did lead to the America we have today LOL

So, can you clarify then Dan.

If an anti war protester is also a veteran do you then NOT want him or her to be hit by a bus?

Is it only the non military affiliated anti war protesters excercising their first amendment rights that you want to be hit by a bus?

Dan,
You slung that last comment up while I was writing mine. Thank you, sir, for your service and continued service to our country through your blog.

Blew my attempt at teh funny, though.

Mnkat,
Didn't work out too well for all those in the mass graves. No biggie for you though, huh.

"If an anti war protester is also a veteran do you then NOT want him or her to be hit by a bus?"

Well, that does present a problem. Hmmm. M'kay, I only want them to get hit by one of the little yellow ones carrying the other "special" protesters. How's that for compromise?

And you call me unreasonable! Geesh!

"I have no intention of insulting veterans, as I am one. It's unfortunate that individuals who never actually support them have no shame in using them so."

Ah, so these veterans are "used" -when it conflicts with your patently uninformed aganda.

That demonstrates a lack of reflection on one’s own position. What else is new?

I wouldn't mind your nonsense hate speech Dan if I didn't know what a hypocrite you are.

If the Daily Kos or another liberal blog started saying they wished Bush supporters would get hit by buses you would erupt into full fledged faux outrage at the 'real' true liberal moonbats and how they only want to do violence to those that don't believe as they do, and how they don't 'really' believe in free speech at all....blah, blah, blah.

The "real" American values you support are those of Joe McCarthy. You want anyone who does not believe as you do silenced, and if possible, bankrupted and jailed. It is YOU who do not believe in traditional American values such as free speech, freedom of association, freedom from government intrusion and so forth.

Shorter Riehl: I condone serial murder because it makes people angry! Horray me!

Jesus Christ, why can't you beat off to porn like normal people.

Dan,
Thank you for your service! I do truly respect your sevice to our country and am eternally thankful that there are people like yourself that are willing to volunteer. But, I have to disagree with your statement, "The veterans earned their right to speak out, which is more than I can say for many of the would be demonstrators." Excuse my lunacy, but could you explain to me where it exactly states that I, as a US citizen, am not allowed to speak out. Just because I am not a Vet or currently in the Armed Services does not mean that I cannot speak out about how our Commander-in-Chief is conducting this WOT. So are you saying that only military people should be allowed to demonstrate against this war?

Veteran of which service, Riehl?

Dan,
Thank you for serving our country and protecting Americans you would like to see dead.

Tens of thousands protesting, and maybe a bus will hit them? Tens of thousands hit by one bus?

I loved "peace idiots". Have you ever heard of "The Prince of Peace"? Blessed are the peacemakers? War as a last resort? Any of that type of idiocy?

You are the biggest fool on the blogoshpere. Congratualtions.

"could you explain to me where it exactly states that I, as a US citizen, am not allowed to speak out."

Well, given that you're doing it in a forum over which I have control and you aren't being silenced, I would hope you might appreciate my obviously genuine position on the issue, as opposed to some rhetoric I threw up while acknowleding it was designed mainly to inflame a certain portion of the blogosphere. And imagine that, it worked.! Hooray!

"I have no intention of insulting veterans, as I am one. It's unfortunate that individuals who never actually support them have no shame in using them so."

Kind of reminds one of the many campaign speeches that Bush has given with the members of the military arranged behind him like props from a John Wayne movie. Or his "unscripted" town meeting with the troops, when they rehearsed their spontaneous questions beforehand over the satellite feed. The "help is on the way" president, who sends soldiers to battle without proper armor. The brave and valient friend of the troops who couldn't even manage to show up for his air national guard duty.

Yeah, the president loves our troops. Loves them to death. And if you hate your fellow Americans who love their country enough to exercise their democratic rights to express their political views, then you, sir, hate America.

"Veteran of which service, Riehl?"

If you mean have I ever called your mamma's 900 number, the answer would be no. Does she work Craig's List, too? Love to see a pic! ; )

The troll here is Dan, who apparently was craving some attention from Daou this morning. As trolling goes it's a fairly amateur effort, since he more or less admits that he's looking for some foaming liberal comments at the end of his post.

Come on, anyone can troll that way. Put some more effort into it Dan!

I will be attending an antiwar protest this weekend, although I have to wonder why these protests are even necessary. As this poll (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/PollVault/story?id=2811599&page=1) shows, clear majorities are opposed to the war and Bush's escalation:

"Echoing views in an ABC/Post poll after Bush addressed the nation on Iraq on Jan. 10, Americans by 65-34 percent oppose his plan for a surge of nearly 22,000 troops.

Strong disapprovers again outnumber strong approvers by nearly 3-1. In an indication of that strength of sentiment, 59 percent say Congress should try to block Bush's plan. And in a further rejection of Bush's proposal, 70 percent say he doesn't have a clear plan for handling the situation in Iraq. Even nearly four in 10 Republicans say so. "

In Dan's "Riehl World View", at least 65% of his fellow American citizens are "just your basic hazmats, moveon types that hate America and American values. Socialists and social misfits and your usual academics."

It's going to take a lot of buses to run over all of them!

"It's going to take a lot of buses to run over all of them!"

Well, word is Nagin never uses his. Now if we could only count on the public employees to show up for work when we're in a bind, we'd be all set!

Thanks for playing!

And do have a nice day!

While I appreciate your willingness to allow dissent on "your" site, however the question still stands.

And maybe if people like yourself didn't work so hard to stir the pot, maybe we could come to a conclusion and agree, as opposed to having it just one way or another. It is called compromise, look it up. Because the filth that is spewed here by both the "nutjob righties" and the "moonbat lefties" distracts us from finding a solution to whatever problem our coutry is up against or might come up against.

Please consider the slippery slope that your eliminationist rhetoric puts us all on.

"eliminationist rhetoric"

You win, that's the phrase of the day! As for this:

"It is called compromise, look it up."

No Sir, I disagree completely. For the military, it is called VICTORY! And it is no kin to compromise. Look it up!

So am I the enemy?
If you actually read my response above you might well see that I am talking about compromising between you and I. Right and left, democrat and republican, or whatever you would like to call yourself or me.
So, I am, sir, the enemy?

And your post illustrates quite well why we have a military that is separate from our Government. If we had people like you, all military no brains, running the country, we would have been nuked in the '50's and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

"compromising between you and I"

Compromise? Certainly on many things political. But the issue here is one of war. How would you propose we "compromise" on that, given my desire to see us win the war?

"who" hate America, not "that"

"I'm not willing to concede that they're human."

Fair enough. I am not willing to concede that you are literate.

What does "winning" mean, Dan?

A government friendly to U.S. interests?

A government that allows Sunnis to be killed by death squads but is friendly to the US?

A functioning democracy where the minority and majority populations do not kill each other?

What if the Iraqis were to elect a president/prime minister who was NOT friendly to the US, would that still be a success if he was democratically elected?

How long do we stay in Iraq in order to effect this "success"

2 years, 5 years, 20 years, 50 years, 200 years?

What does 'failure' mean?

By most objective counts, we have already 'failed' in Iraq.

Failed to make the country's infrastructure function as well as it did before we invaded.

Failed to protect ordinary Iraqis from death, they've left by the MILLIONS.

Failed to prevent ethnic strife from overtaking the country.

Failed to quash the insurgency or the death squads.

Failed to protect innocent Iraqis from death by their fellow citizens or from our own soldiers.

Bush did not invade Iraq under the rubric that we would be there "as long as it took" he invaded Iraq under the premise that it would not take long at all, in fact, can anyone find a Bush Admin quote or a neocon quote that indicated they expected to still have 140,000 trooops on the ground FOUR YEARS LATER>

Good luck with that search.

"If you mean have I ever called your mamma's 900 number, the answer would be no. Does she work Craig's List, too? Love to see a pic! ; )"

Jesus Christ, I've met eight year olds who can produce a better come-back than that. You really don't have any talent, eh, lickspittle?

Look -- YOU SAID that you're a vet. I want to know what branch of the service you were in. When people ask me what branch I was in, I have no trouble telling them that I was in the navy, because it happens to be true. But you, I suspect, are prone to lying, to compensate for what I suspect is a pretty mundane and small life. So answer the question, lickspittle -- in what sense are you a vet?

I am anxiously awaiting your response as to which branch of the military you were in as well. Until I realized perhaps it was just a typo, and you meant that you are a VETERINARIAN. I will not take any of the obvious cheap shots as frankly, you seem to embarass yourself enough all on your own.

"But you, I suspect, are prone to lying"

I'm not going to jump because your silly ass holds up some hoop. I told you before, read the archives if you want to know. What an idiot. If you think I'm such a liar, why ask me anything at all? Oh, I get it, no matter what I say, you'll just say I'm lying again. lol You need a course in logic if you ever get passed dhimmi 101.

Careful curious, if I'm a veterinarian, I might just put down a little pussy cat like you.

Dan is not a military vet.

He is playing with words to make it look like he served. This game makes him scum.

Please save Dan's comments in case he ever tries to get another TV booking.

Imagine the fun when his "vet" claims are exposed.

=================================================
I'm not willing to concede that they're human.
=================================================

Sorry, does Dan's comment here strike anyone else as the type that would precede a civil war in this country? Lines have certainly been drawn, and all that remains is for one side to see the other side as something less than human, and suddenly it's "bring 'em on." The Bush supporters have already seen that their worldview cannot advance itself through logical argument and debate, since that has resulted in a growing and commanding majority correctly understanding the war as a mistake. If one regards being "pro-American" as being in support of our union, the Constitution, and the process of democracy, then it's clear that Dan Riehl is anti-American under the most strict definition. And he's clearly proud of it.

=================================================
How would you propose we "compromise" on that, given my desire to see us win the war?
=================================================

Dan, your desire to see us win in the war is akin to an adult's desire to see Santa Claus land on his roof. In kids, such unrealistic flights of fancy are completely acceptable; in adults, the solution is often therapy or drugs. While the definition of "win" has never been provided by anyone, we'd all like to see us "win the war" (and personally, I would be overjoyed to see Santa Claus land on my roof). However, most Americans correctly understand that that's no longer realistic. You're slow to realize this, Dan, just as your ancestors were probably late in discovering fire. Fortunately for you, you live in a society that protects those of lesser abilities.

"I'm not going to jump because your silly ass holds up some hoop. I told you before, read the archives if you want to know. What an idiot. If you think I'm such a liar, why ask me anything at all? You only have to type one of:

Army
Navy
Air Force
Marines
Coast Guard

Eleven letters, tops. That's all you need to type. In fact, you don't even need to do that much. You can copy and paste the name of the service branch from this very post!

So why the dodge?

Do you think your insipid little replies are making you look *better*? Look, I'm giving you a chance at reclaiming a speck of dignity, here. Do yourself a favor and answer the question, lickspittle.

I'm giving you a chance

And I'm giving you a chance to read the archives, or learn to use advanced Google. Go for it, prove me wrong.
As for the comment above re Civil War, I ponder that very thing some days. I doubt it will come to that and certainly hope not. Passions will calm when the war sorts itself out, especially after Iraq gets on its feet, which it will, no thanks to many of you.

But in the meantime, you seem very happy to pour gasoline on the fire. Try and understand that that is the primary effect of this thread, and perhaps your entire blog.

=========================================

So what you've said here is that, until Santa Claus lands on your roof, with all 8 pairs of reindeer hooves pawing the shingles, you will not let up on your offensive. And, should Santa Claus not appear, you have already seen who the enemy is: a large majority of Americans, which will only get larger.

I'm sorry, Dan. You say you hope we don't devolve into a civil war out of one side of your mouth, while doing all you can to promote that outcome out of the other. And you wonder why your side's view isn't gaining any traction...

Paul, I would take your position more seriously if there had been any let up from your side as far as undermining this war for the past two or more years. Your suggestion is that supporters should remain silent while the Left calls names, hurls insults and undermines any credibility behind the war.

Ain't gonna happen bud. Not again. We were silent when the peace crowd cost us Vietnam. Not again.

Tens of thousands to be run over by busses. That would take maybe a thousand busses. How about using the ones that didn't help anyone after Katrina?

All hail The Shrub, Prince of Peace!

What do you nutters not get about the fact that Sunni and Shia killing each other has NOTHING TO DO WITH what anyone here in the U.S. says about the war. Do you think if nobody in America thought the war was a bad idea or going badly, that no Sunni would have killed any Americans or Shia or that there would be no death squads?

Ya, we should just have used the old A-bomb on North Vietnam, that woulda showd them dam commies who was boss.

What a fucking idiot you are.
