Finally, a nutroots initiative I can sign on to. I can proudly say that no Republican will get a dime from me as long as I live.

Yes, brave armchair warriors, stand up with your internet leader and fight the evil GOP. Stay the course, heros, stay the course!

You're an idiot if you havent actually looked into the truth of what is happening out there. You've been lied to by neocons....these guys dont resemble any republican that any of us could have ever imagined.
If you want to keep troops in a civil war that will have no end with us involved, then go the hell over there yourself!
Otherwise, why not spend your blogging time outlining what your exact plan is beyond some misled idea of glory and "winning" and cite references ....I doubt you can.

The 101st Keyboard courageously fighting for what it believes in: the right of other people to actually fight and die in the "war on terror," so that it may engage in the heroic consumption of Cheetos and Coors Light.

*sniff*

Heros.

Wow, this may be the funniest post yet. I love the 'our President' touch. You keyboard commandos must be very proud. Bring em on!!

"must be very proud"

Yes, as a matter of fact, many are. Better that than a feckless anti-American zero like you.

"feckless": Lacking purpose or vitality; feeble or ineffective; Careless and irresponsible.

Hmm, sounds like the Bush administration and the 28 percenters barking about "victory" and "what must be done" from behind their keyboards. But, for what it is worth, I "take the pledge" to not support GOP candidates as well.

This is the 28 percenter view of life.

1. Lie and smear your opponent loudly and often.

2. When called to account for the false evidence you've used, lie some more and condemn anyone who opposes you more loudly than ever.

3. When it cannot be denied that your 'evidence' was false, change the subject, lie some more, continue to condemn and attack anyone who opposes you or calls you to account for your lies and falsehoods.

4. Repeat as needed.

This prescription worked well for the last six years, and indeed, worked well at derailing the Clinton adminstration to a large degree, though their own lies didn't help much in that regard.

Hopefully, enough Americans have finally come to understand this is a recipe for disaster and must be stopped.

yyy,

Yes, it's like how a child lashes out at her parents when she has been caught misbehaving. The child produces the most transparently desperate self-serving excuses, lies, blame, and backpeddling in the face of undeniable evidence of guilt and/or wrongful behavior. The child can be forgiven because she doesn't know any better; we hope, however, the she will one day grow up, recognize the principles of cause and effect, taking responsibility for her failures, and cease blaming the kitty cat (read: anyone and anything that happens to be around to blame) for breaking mommy's camera, or writing "fart" on the living room wall.

The 28 percenters represent a particularly odious form of regression into a child-like protective state, where if they blame everyone else for their failures and gross incompetence - loudly enough, they can attempt to convince themselves that it really is everyone else's fault.

A Quote from a great Republican:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

Teddy Roosevelt 1918

You 28%er sheep are laughable. I can just see you bloated armchair heros pledging to follow 'your President' wherever he takes you. Keep it up. Can't wait to see how many more seats, along with the presidency, you shitheads lose in 08.

Oh geeze, now they will add Teddy Roosevelt to the ever growing list of traitorous moonbat liberals.

Didn't they decide just yesterday that Eisenhower was a defeatist?

It would be really funny if they weren't so serious and crazy.

Re The Decider's quote from Teddy Roosevelt above. Note that he called Dan's forerunners "morally treasonable" in May of 1918, i.e. in the midst of World War One.

I disagree with Artie. I'm with Atrios ( http://atrios.blogspot.com/2007_01_14_atrios_archive.html#116913213199670967 ) on this one:

It's true that the Republican party is pretty much wrecked unless they find a way to pivot on Iraq. Still they seem to be surprisingly unwilling to make that pivot. The part of my brain which sees everything in terms of crass politics is thrilled by this development. The bigger part of my brain which actually cares about tangible results is rather unhappy about this.

Save yourselves, save the country. Tell George Bush to stuff it, Republicans.

The Republicans are not ready to fully jump ship yet, since there is the infinitessimally small chance that the 'surge' of a measly 20,000 troops will make a difference and that the Iraqis will magically become well trained by this summer after 4 years have resulted in no gains.

If the surge proves as successful as the rest of the Bush Iraq doctrine then you will see a change.

The real Republicans already know their party was hijacked by a bunch of simplistic, evangelical, unethical, bribe taking, neocon morons and has been subsequently run into the ground over the last six years.

I mean really, Newt looks like a statesman compared to the fools and blowhards that have been running Congress since then.

What really gets me about the 28%ers is how they refuse to admit that Iraq is a clusterfuck. Even the proud Grandpa to be - Dick Cheney wont admit that the Iraq disaster has undermined the credibility of the Bush administration. What clowns. Macaca is starting to look good against these idiots.

When it finally all blows up for the last time in their faces, they will just blame it on the Iraqis....they didn't stand up afterall.

They will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER admit that they went into Iraq based on lies and fairytales, and when they got greated by the big bad witch instead of snow white, they failed to adjust, but dug in.

You're going to fight for your beliefs? WOW! I know some army recruiters who'll be damn glad to hear that!

I know..... You can't enlist, because you've got car payments to make, or ingrown acne, or you've got a cat to feed. Or something. I should've known. But for a second you actually had me going there.

You meant "fight" in your usual sense. You meant that you're going to smear people who aren't sufficiently deferential to Our Dear Leader. You meant that you're going to play the victim card -- for the billionth time -- when people call you out for your gutless hypocritical bloviating.

Watch out for carpal tunnel syndrome during the "fight", brave warriors!

"Yes, as a matter of fact, many are. Better that than a feckless anti-American zero like you."

Oh my god.... Surrealists and stand-up comics wouldn't dare try to pull off self-parody material like this. "Feckless" from a yahoo whose call for manly action ends with, "It's easy, just click on a state for phone and email."

Are you capable of steady, grown-up, full-time employment, Riehl? Do you have a job? If so, what company management hired you? I'd like to know so I can short their stock and clean up.

"Do you have a job? If so, what company management hired you? I'd like to know so I can short their stock and clean up."

Now now; it's not fair to condemn the entire Wendy's management program over Riehl.

John Cole over at Balloon Juice has the right take on the pledge:

---------------------

The current signatories include serious military thinkers such as Hugh "HARRIET MIERS IS THE BOMB" Hewitt and Dan "God hates fags" Riehl, and, of course Red State, which used to be conservative but now is little more than a sad exercise in Rovian doublespeak (but they hate Democrats, so that counts for something!). ...

I tried to think of some other pledges to take the place of this exercise in lunacy, and this is what I came up with for all these Bush diehards: "Follow Bush over a cliff or we will make sure that we are a Southern regional religionist party with 12 seats in the Senate!"

Hmmmm.... I spoke too soon. This a program that I can really get behind. Where do I sign up?

It makes you wonder what makes these 28%ers tick. I know that many of them are in Redneckistan (aka The South) but what about the rest? You know, like that fat guy driving the dirty Ford Windstar with the W04 sticker on the back window - is he just angry or what? But, seeing as their numbers are going down - and certain to drop even further in representation in 2008, who really cares.

The partisan in me really hopes that the GOP gloms on to the barkings of the 28 percenters. The rest of me hopes like grim death that the GOP realizes that bending to the will of this divisive death cult is terrible for the future of our country.

Hmm, I don't think they care anymore about the future of the 'country' they care about their hot button issues, protecting the country from gay marriage, legal abortion, universal health care and the ever present invisible muslem horde of islamo-terrorists hiding behind every bush and tree.

Karl Rove doesnt' give a shit about the future of the country and he never did, he cares about winning. The neocons do care about the future of the country, but they are nutters, wrong on the facts, wrong on the future, wrong on the policies.

We're scewed any way we look at it since the Dems are not too good themselves at learning histories hard lessons about staying in the middle ground and not expending your political capitol on fruitless fringe issues like gays in the military or taxpayer supported nativity scenes.

Well, I'm willing to believe that there are a number of GOPers who were sort of bullied into this thing, along with the Dems. That doesn't make it right, but I can understand it. I know that actual conservatives and libertarian types have been very upset with this war for a while, but they were bitting their tongues. Hopefully, now that respected folks like Hagel, Warner, Collins, et al have spoken out, others will as well. Barring, a demonstrable swing in the results on the ground in Iraq, I don't see how the GOP can un-ring the bell that some of its most powerful members have rung. My guess is that they'll give the President until September at the latest. In any event, my favorite part of that very creepy pledge is the following:

"What Can You Do?

1. Sign the Pledge

2. Contact your Senators and the Senate Republican leadership

3. Tell at least three friends about the Pledge and refer them here to sign"

The glaring omission in that list of options speaks volumes as to who the 28 percenters really are.

Unfortunately, a good portion of the old conservative republican leadership lost their seats in this past election, which could actually further move the republican, or should i say republic party to the right.

If Dan Riehl on TV isn't a sign of the apocalypse and that the inmates are running the asylum, what is?

I really have lost faith in both parties, the Dems are still too enamoured of big government fix its for entrenched social problems of 'minorities' and all politicians are pretty poor in the overall truthtelling and credibility tests.

I don't see the surge helping, in fact, I am starting to think the surge is just more cover for an attack on Iran. Sadly, little George still has the ability to do much more damage to our military, our standing in the world, our economy and of course, to whatever innocent people he should next choose to 'liberate' from their current leadership.

"If Dan Riehl on TV isn't a sign of the apocalypse and that the inmates are running the asylum, what is?"

Somebody put that moron on TeeVee?!?! Is he on the Jerry Springer show? Or.... Lemme take a wild guess -- some Fox disinfo operation?

Ok, I just signed the pledge - for the 4th time. I hope the Senate appreciates Heywood Jablome and George Chimpenfuhrer taking the time to show that they are brave, patriotic Americans.
