Clearly a tragedy.
Thursday morning the war in Iraq came crashing home for the staffers and former staffers of Air America Radio. We learned that a wonderful friend and much loved colleague, Andi Parhamovich, was killed in Baghdad.
She was 28 years old, whip smart, funny and beautiful inside and out. Until a few months ago she was a spokeswoman for Air America, a challenging and often thankless job that she did with great skill and good humor.
Andi Parhamovich's death is a story that has been told more than three thousand times across America since this horrific war began. That doesn't make it any less painful; it makes it worse.
Yes, three thousand times ... just like these. After all, according to kos what's important is the politics, right?
The Left has ignored the suffering of good Americans who have lost loved ones in Iraq since this war began - provided they continued to support the war. I'm not suggesting it's right to return the favor, or make light of any of the dead. But if the left could understand that many on the right have indeed experienced the same pain, but they haven't allowed it to sway them from what they see as a just cause, perhaps they'd come to realize this has nothing to do with being war mongers, or heartless imperialists, and everything to do with what one perceives as, ultimately, a terrible sacrifice for a greater good.
I wish.

From Huffpo: "...Andi worked for the International Republican Institute in Iraq before joining the National Democratic Institute, a nonprofit whose mission is "to build political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and to promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government" in all parts of the world. NDI advises local politicians and activists on the mechanics of democratic practices and institutions. Its chair is Madeleine Albright...."
From this, it sounds like she was doing Good Works. I don't know how effective this NDI is, be the vaunted "chaos" in Iraq is because the culture there is woefully short of what NDI puports to sell.
So her death is a shame...and ironic when you consider (unless my memory is on the fritz) that not a single "human shield" --of the faux Do-Gooders--was killed or injured (at least, by the Good Guys) in '03.
Cordially...

There's a bit more to the woman than the fact she worked at Err Amerika, she was also a staffer for a Republican governor I think, and active in Republican politics. I read some stuff about her on the Radio Equalizer. I'd link but I'm lazy.

What a smarmy article at The Huffington Post. Ms. Lewis managed to use the death of this young woman to score some stupid political points that were superfluous to this sad death. I wonder why Kos didn't say "screw her" when he found out about Andi's death. After all, she wasn't military and like those so-called four 'mercenaries' she was over there trying to do her civilian duty anyway she could.
There is something inherently evil about that Kos guy. He's lame. He's cotton candy. His credo is conquer & divide. And he knows this. That is what makes him evil. Alternatives? Solutions? Help? Hunh? Whaa?
A happy hamster up the devil's butt.
