He's like the little train that can't when it comes to running for the Presidency:
On Sen. Hillary Clinton:
“Everyone in the world knows her,” he said. “Her husband has used every single legitimate tool in his behalf to lock people in, shut people down. Legitimate. And she can’t break out of 30 percent for a choice for Democrats? Where do you want to be? Do you want to be in a place where 100 percent of the Democrats know you? They’ve looked at you for the last three years. And four out of 10 is the max you can get?”
On Sen. Barack Obama: "II mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man." But... “I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.”
On Sen. John Edwards: "I don’t think John Edwards knows what the heck he is talking about."

A candidate deriding another? Shocking, truly shocking.

Or they punctuated the quote wrong:
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American, who is articulate
and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a
storybook, man.”

LOL Nice try, guys. Pathetic ... but fun to watch.

Nice try what? Are you going to start commenting when GOP candidates start eviscerating each other over their differences? Dan you're reaching big time with some of these posts. Oooooo Biden doesn't agree with his OPPONANTS for the DEM nomination...Obama made a typo...is this all you got?
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 01:27 PM
It's with astonishment that I have to report that I agree with Riehl. Biden's just run what may be the shortest presidential campaign in American history. Good riddance. It's pretty unlikely that he'd ever have got beyond single digits anyway -- Biden's practically a caricature of a Senator who loves to bask in his own verbiage.

He has laid out his opinion of the front runners in no uncertain terms. Is it the wisest move? Not likely, but it hasn't torpedoed him just yet. The thing we all have to take a close look at is the accuracy of his statements. I think Obama will stake out his territory but he hasn't just yet. I also think Capping numbers and immediate pullouts aren't the best plans, so where is he wrong? I've been in favor of his "Loose Federation" plan for some time.
Posted by: TheSpartan | Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 01:39 PM
"I've been in favor of his "Loose Federation" plan for some time."
Me too. The Iraqi provisional constitution essentially provides for federalism, coupled with the concept of sharing in oil revenues. There's no reason why an oil-sharing plan can not be worked out. A loose federation could have been established easily prior to the sectarian violence that essentially defines the current conflict, as the Iraqis themselves voted for it. Now, the best we can do is set up a firewall between the Kurds and the violence in the rest of the country, fall back to a border security position, and let the Iraqis have their civil war (without us in the middle of it), as is their right. They've wanted to kill each other for decades, and there's nothing that a "surge" will do about that.

Exactly, Typepad did a denial of Service in Comments today at 2:11 based on email address in comments. It's all the Plame trial ones for some reason.

Are you people crazy. The man said what all liberals say in private. "Look at that dumb nigger". You think liberals for elite schools believe the blacks they have to deal with are bright, of course not. They need them for the dumb vote. He spoke for his heart and that is a no no.

The GOP calls them their "base."

Simple solution for Iraq:
Hand over everything to the Kurds.
If the Kurds control the oil and the government, Iranian and Syrian provacateurs will be told to leave or face very immediate and dire consequences. The Saudis and Kuwaitis will support and accept that. The Turks can come to live with it because the Kurds will leave Turkey and go to a homeland in Northern Iraq.
I spent 8 years in the Middle East and know that no American Political Hacks know jack about the region.
I see a lot of insults here. Must be Liberals, Socialists or other varieties of buffoons. They throw insults when logic fails or simple truth does not support their juvenile agenda.
Again, Carl, Thanks for your support!

Wow, Old Trooper has a solution to the mess in Iraq! Heck, he's spent 8 YEARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST so he is eminently qualified to solve their problems. America needs more people like Old Trooper. Stay the course! Mission Accomplished!

Trying to lay a Macaque Moment on Biden, Dan? Your dishonesty knows no bounds. So far, it's George Allen who got George Allened and your attempt won't wash. I'm betting it's you who use the n-word at the dinner table, Dan.

Hey, Dan!! Want to talk some more about the Moonie InsightRag.com and the madrassa lie? :)

Carl, all you have is a very rude display of your own shortcomings.
You offer no insight that has either a touch of logic or a sparkle of anything besides cheap shots and ignorance.
Grow up. You are cheap entertainment. And, No, Bucko, I don`t want Fries with that!
Thanks for your support!

Wow. Sounds like you've got the entire Iraq problem all fixed up in only four sentences!
Let's see.... The Saudis will sign off on your plan... The Kuwaitis... You say the Turks will, and who am I to doubt that?
Still, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I can't help thinking that you're overlooking somebody in your list.... Let me think now...
Oh yeah! Those little fringe groups, the SUNNI and the SHIA!
Brilliant, Clausewitz. You've "fixed" the problems of everybody EXCEPT the people actually at the center of the problem. Typical.

After YOUR little demonstration of "problem-solving", you're in no position to criticize anybody's logic, ace.

Old Trooper is offering to fix the Middle East and you fools arent listening! What is wrong with you?? He was there for 8 YEARS - he knows the score. Amazing, the only guy in America who can solve the country's problems and he is stuck posting on a second rate political website. Where is the justice? Complete the mission, Old Trooper!!

You completed yours hours ago.
You have no solution. Ever been to Iraq?
Keep pissing on your leg. It really isn`t raining but your leg is wet.
For You, it is raining.
LOL!
Thanks for Your Support!

It's unreal that Biden said that, what a fool.
We owe a lot to the Kurds, the thought of leaving them makes me sick. Old Trooper, if we did hand over Iraq to the Kurds, would not there be problems with Turkey?
Posted by: tally | Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 10:37 PM
No, I've never been to Iraq - and hundreds of thousands of other Americans have no business being there either. Bush's little adventure based on phony claims has been an utter failure both in terms of the financial and human cost. Nice civil war. Dismissed!

"You completed yours hours ago.

Your "solution" has been criticized on fairly specific grounds. By me. Now, do you have anything close to a counter-argument, or do you feel more comfortable tossing out cliched schoolyard insults?
Turkey's anxiety about an independent Kurdistan are well-known, and understandable. Turkey refused to serve as a staging ground for your excellent Iraq adventure, despite the offer of pretty substantial bribes (er, "aid") at a time when they were having economic difficulties. I see zero evidence that they've got more enthusiastic about the project since 2003. Turkey would very much like to join the EU. Golly, it sure would be nice if we sure had some pull there, but you neo-Bolsheviks had lots of fun watching Smilin' Don Rumsfeld yammer on about "old Europe", so I guess it was worth it. Besides, diplomacy, negotiating, talking -- it's BORING.
If the Shia and Sunni are eager to take orders from the Kurds, it's news to pretty much everyone who follows events in the region. In fact, maybe the ONLY way to unite those factions is to back a new ruling Kurdish regime. But I assume that when you talk about "solutions", you mean something a little better than a new alignment in the civil war.
As to Iran -- I know you guys have a deep psychic need for an enemy, and I know you're gearing up for a big hysterics fit about the menace from Tehran. In a lot of ways it reminds me of Stalin's "fear" of the Finnish "menace", but I don't want to dwell on that. Instead, I have just one simple question: Did it ever occur to you that no President has done more to advance Iranian ambitions in the Persian Gulf than Bush the Lesser?
Posted by: sglover | Thursday, February 01, 2007 at 02:16 AM
They can't follow that logic.
The idea that Iran..Shia, might get involved or even be happy at the Sunni minority in Iraq being overthrown to allow the Shia majority to take over in Iraq, apparently never occured to Bush II.
It also seems not to have occured to anyone until just a couple of days ago that, well, maybe the Shia in Iraq would look to other Shia outside of Iraq to help them in their murderous quest to kill Sunnis.
Bush has given them another Arab Menance to hate and focus their energy on and has given them a scapegoat to blame for the failure in Iraq. They couldn't be happier.
They can now bang the drums on the need to nuke Iran from now until eternity.
