While You Were Out

The Israeli's lobbed a missile into your Headquarters, Mr. Prime Minister. Apparently they hit another Hamas location, too.

GAZA, July 2 (Reuters) - Israeli forces killed at least one person in helicopter missile attacks on the Gaza City office of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and an office used by forces loyal to his governing party, witnesses said.

They said Haniyeh, a leader the militant Islamist group Hamas, was not in his office at the time. The person was killed in the second strike and was identified as a Hamas member.

In a separate air strike, a missile was fired at a Gaza school founded by the late Hamas spiritual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, witnesses said. There were no casualties.

The SevenStripes blog has an essay up on Islamophobia.

Today, however, I adamantly believe that Islam has arrived at a deciding crossroads, at which the fate of the entire religion and its 1.4 billion followers will be decided. And, it’s all thanks to the fabrication of one simple word that misleads, deceives and divides: Islamophobia.

Just A Law And Order Guy

Galinuniform IowaHawk has a bit of a beauty pageant going ... some cuties here, even if they are all doing time, of a sort. And you can vote for Miss Hoosegow of 2006..

So please review the cavalcade of incarcerated corn country cuties, and vote for the one that sets your heart a-twitter. If you'd like more information on the candidates...

But seeing as how I'm mostly a law and order guy, I thought I'd take a look around for what the other side of the jailhouse bars had to offer.

23-year-old Hedi serves as a policewoman. This past weekend Hedi won the first annual Miss Uniforms Beauty Contest

Alas, there don't seem to be any images left from 1972, when Walter Cronkite reported the results of the Miss Fuzz contest. No, I'm not kidding.

(Laos Angel es, California) Miss Fuzz of 1972 chosen from Louisiana policewomen, to humanize police. Puns abound. Miss Gaylene Dunn wins.

Bardales2 Apparently Peru's President Toledo ran into a spot of trouble over this officer.

The latest scandal swirling around President Alejandro Toledo involves an attractive 23-year-old policewoman who posed on the cover of Peru's leading news magazine in a black sleeveless sweater and tight red jeans, with her midriff exposed and 9 mm pistol drawn.

Before you go getting ideas, you might want to read the advice on dating a female police officer, here at Officer dot com.

Not really finding a lot of pictures posted, but in 1994 an NY PD officer, Carol Shayla, did make the cover of Playboy. You can do a uniform inspection here.

No images, but apparently Dutch policewomen are claiming that their new uniforms are see through. Sure to help during those traffic stops! That's quite a difference from this Afghan Policewoman ... somehow, something gets lost in the uniform.

Mahalia is one of the only policewomen in Kandahar. Unlike other women in the region, Mahalia works alongside men, apprehending criminals and restoring justice in one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. When working outside her home and office she is always armed beneath her Burk.

I'm unconvinced Penthouse was playing it straight when they went with their Women in and out of Uniform edition. And I'm not buying this German Police Woman is real either. Warning frontal nudity.

Here's a site to check out what look to be actual police women from around the world. All the images are click-able and look genuine - and some of them are nice looking babes. Kinda partial to this Czech gal myself.

When you're done, don't forget to check out IowaHawk's Hoosegow Hunnies ... what better place than jail to keep it real.

New bin-Laden Tape Released

Back to Somalia?

By Sher Zieve – On Saturday, Fox News reports that a new audio tape from terrorist al-Qaeda leader Osama bin-Laden was released. An Islamic militant/terrorist website is said to be the first to carry it.

On the tape, bin-Laden is reported to call for Sunnis in Iraq to rise up and kill all Shiites. He is also said to have announced Somalia as the new al-Qaeda theatre to fight against the war on terror. This is the 2nd bin-Laden tape, in a week, to be released.

Update: It hit the AP: I doubt he can do much to impact Iraq. The Somalia issue is a different story, though it always figured we'd be heading back that way before this is done. What remains to be seen is what the groups involved in the recent Somali take over want to do. They could come to see signing on with bin-Laden as a failed strategy, as it would certainly provoke an eventual military response of some sort.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden said in an Internet message Saturday to militants that the Islamic community was depending on them to "liberate" Iraq.

His fifth statement this year and his second in two days, the 19-minute audio recording was accompanied by a photo of bin Laden above the logo and name Al-Sahab, al-Qaida's media production wing.

"Your Muslim nation is looking for you and praying for your victory. You are their hope after God. You are God's trusted soldiers who will liberate the ummah (the nation) from the serfdom of the crusaders in our countries," he said in the posting.

On Friday, bin Laden paid tribute to slain leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and denied that the terror organization was involved in sectarian strife in Iraq.

What's The Big Deal?

Newp1 Michelle Malkin points out that the Times has published:

maps and specific street names and photographs of the private (not anymore) homes where the Vice President and Defense Secretary and their families spend their vacations?

I don't know, is it such a big deal? I can't imagine NY Times Publisher Arthur O. "Pinch" Sulzberger would mind someone pointing out that a search for his name can give you:

Arthur O. Sulzberger - 14 SPRINGTOWN RD - NEW PALTZ, NY  12561

and

Arthur O. Sulzberger - 41 CRAGSWOOD RD NEW PALTZ, NY  12561

And while the satelite maps don't close in on the Cragswood Rd property, the Springtown Road address (above and below) certainly looks like a fine estate.

Israel: Release Shalit or PM Dies

Well, I suppose you could call it an aggressive negotiation tactic.

ISRAEL last night threatened to assassinate Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh if Hamas militants did not release a captured Israeli soldier unharmed.
The unprecedented warning was delivered to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a letter as Israel debated a deal offered by Hamas to free Corporal Gilad Shalit.

It came as Israeli military officials readied a second invasion force for a huge offensive into Gaza.

Hamas's Gaza-based political leaders, including Mr Haniyeh, had already gone into hiding.

But last night's direct threat to kill Mr Haniyeh, a democratically elected head of state, sharply raised the stakes.

The bid to free Corporal Shalit was brokered by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who last night warned Hamas it faced severe consequences if it did not curb its "extreme stance" and described the growing conflict as a lightning rod for Palestinian vengeance.

Keep Both Hands On The Wheel

Especially if you're an NBA player watching porn while driving. Not only might you have an accident, you could end up dribbling all over yourself, too.

(CBS) MINNEAPOLIS On March 30, Minnesota Timberwolves center Eddie Griffin was drunk and masturbating when he crashed his luxury SUV into a parked Suburban outside a store in Minneapolis, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by the man whose Suburban was hit in the crash.

WCCO-TV obtained copies of 911 calls and store surveillance video of the incident, along with an accident report the police submitted to the state, reports WCCO-TV's Caroline Lowe.

Several of the 911 callers that night said Griffin was drunk. One witness said Griffin told him he was watching pornography in a DVD player mounted on the dashboard of his Cadillac Escalade SUV when he struck a Chevy Suburban parked on University Avenue Southeast.

About That Fourth Estate Thing

I have an Op Ed piece on the Fourth Estate in today's DC Examiner . I think blog readers and bloggers might enjoy reading it.

Goodbye Interior Ministry

It sounds as though Hamas is beginning to become concerned - as well they should.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Israeli warplanes struck the Palestinian Interior Ministry early Friday, setting it ablaze as Arab leaders tried to forge a deal that would halt the Israeli offensive and free a 19-year-old soldier held by gunmen allied with the ruling Islamic Hamas.

The bombing was one of more than a dozen across the Gaza Strip after midnight, though Israel called off a planned ground invasion of northern Gaza on Thursday in order to give diplomacy another chance.

Meanwhile At The Warner Campaign

Oh, must update for this:

Armstrong and Kos are often touted as Internet wunderkinds in the 2004 Howard Dean campaign - but Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi and top aide Kate O'Connor say it ain't so.

Trippi said Armstrong's role was "mostly to help placing our blog ads for $3,000 a month" and "Markos had almost nothing to do with the campaign."

Both Trippi and O'Connor - while often at odds in the Dean campaign - agreed that contrary to the Kos myth, Dean's real Internet stars were Nicco Malley, Mat Gross and Zephyr Teachout.

Trippi also said that Armstrong never disclosed his SEC woes when he was hired in June 2003 - when the SEC probe was well under way, saying: "It was never disclosed to me."

Fourth Of July Cancelled

The Dems have decided to replace it with be kind to a terrorist week. Wannabe House Majority Leader Pelosi ... yeah, sure.

"Today's Supreme Court decision reaffirms the American ideal that all are entitled to the basic guarantees of our justice system. This is a triumph for the rule of law.

Some depth of analysis on the decision here at OTB.
