That Immigration Cha-Raid

Sorry folks, but I think people are being conned into thinking the recent raid was actually an illegal immigration raid in the sense that it is part of a now growing effort to curtail illegal immigration. That was not the point and the details point that out while opening up still another challenge for anti-illegal immigration folks.

Let's look at a couple quick facts via Michelle Malkin:

9NEWS has also learned the raid was scheduled to happen Monday, but an agreement was made between Swift & Company and the Federal Government to delay the raid because Japanese businessmen, who are potential customers, were visiting the Greeley plant.

That may sound strange ... but it isn't a case of the Feds tipping off a raid to a perp - Swift isn't the target. The target, as this headline points out is the Identity Theft.

Feds Focus on Identity Theft in Immigration Raid

Now, here's what's going to happen. Identity theft is going to start getting big play. But the answer isn't going to be deportation. The case will be made that - if these people were legal, they wouldn't need to steal identities from you and me.

This raid is not a step forward in the immigration fight. It's a way of getting many people who don't worry about illegal immigration involved in the debate ... a bunch of people who will be more likely to roll over and go with amnesty if they think it's going to protect them from the demon of identity theft.

In short, I don't think this is about stopping illegal immigration at all. I think the whole thing is a cha-raid and an attempt to change the dynamics of the illegal immigration debate by pulling in more people less concerned with the actual illegal immigration itself.

That's exactly my take on it also, next they'll pop up and claim they can "fix" this terrible problem with amnesty or some other path to freedom. I also suspect that neither party understands that a huge percentage of voters demand that illegal immigration be stopped.

Or they just preemptively cede the entire southwest to Mexico and have done with it already.
