Shareef Followed Father Into Nation Of Islam

The young Muslim arrested for planning to bomb a Rockford Mall, Derrick Shareef aka Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef, was a Nation of Islam convert, and reports state his Father is also a member of the controversial group associated with Louis Farrakhan.

Meanwhile, some on the Left have already begun to scream entrapment.

"Heavy surveillance" seems like a bit of an understatement. In fact, this looks a lot more like a sting operation, especially considering a report from the Rockford Register Star which says:

The Country Creek community where the boy had lived with his Mother, Marie Schultz of Genoa, is said to be surprised by the development.

It wasn't until recently Shareef converted to the Nation of Islam, which Schultz claims, "he didn't know what he was getting himself into."

Shareef's father currently lives in California and is also a member of the Nation of Islam.

Shareef, a computer game buff employed by EB Games in Dekalb, became radicalized after joining the Nation of Islam and eventually his Mother asked him to leave home.

Shareef's family reportedly had watched him become so radical, they asked him to leave their home. Still, his mother couldn't believe her son wanted to harm people.

"I am shocked," she said from her home near DeKalb. "I am stunned."

He was working at EB Games, but she didn't know where he lived. Shareef's family heard about his arrest from a reporter. They said he was Christian and converted to Islam about seven years ago while living in Detroit.

Update: The Nation of Islam also gave its support to convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal. Michelle Malkin has a tribute to slain police officer Daniel Faulkner. It's the 25th anniversary of his murder.

According to the mother, the boy/man converted to Nation of Islam only recently. Then she says that he converted to Islam 7 years ago. He's 22!! That's a third of his life he's spent in his most ideologically impressionable years as a muslim, radicalized by the Nation of Islam and the other radical mullahs he listens to.

It's apparant to me that the way of Islam as set forth in the Qu'ran in very explicit words is a violent polital AND religious way of life. There is no separation between church and state. We defeated the Communists, another politcal AND religious (religion of the State) ideology, inemical (sp?) to liberty. The difference is that Communism valued this world and living in it. Islam does not. It values only the afterlife, and the faster one gets there, the better, and if someone has to go there with you, so be it. Inshallah.

If one wants to be a Muslim, he or she must disavow much of the Qu'ran. If we want our liberty and our lives, we have to recognize it as a cult of death, and realize that although we value other's beliefs, and accept them in reasonable co-existance, Islam does NOT. It cannot by its very terms and doctrine co-exist equally with other religions and beliefs. Convert, be a slave or die. We ignore this at our own peril.
