Reyes On The Record
Michelle Malkin points out that Sylvester Reyes is now fully expected to Chair the House Intelligence Committee. At her link, she also reminds readers of an ethics issue.
Here is Reyes on the record for a number of key issues. Obviously some of the most important being Homeland Security and Terrorism. Below are his votes on Homeland Security and War and Peace issues.

Voted NO on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005)
Voted YES on continuing military recruitment on college campuses. (Feb 2005)
Voted YES on supporting new position of Director of National Intelligence. (Dec 2004)
Voted NO on adopting the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. (Oct 2004)
Voted YES on emergency $78B for war in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Apr 2003)
Voted YES on permitting commercial airline pilots to carry guns. (Jul 2002)
Voted YES on $266 billion Defense Appropriations bill. (Jul 1999)
Voted YES on deploying SDI. (Mar 1999)
Stopping Vieques bombing range good; sooner is better. (Jun 2001)
Rated 78% by SANE, indicating a pro-peace voting record. (Dec 2003)Voted NO on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on approving removal of Saddam & valiant service of US troops. (Mar 2004)
Voted NO on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
Voted NO on disallowing the invasion of Kosovo. (May 1999)
Condemns anti-Muslim bigotry in name of anti-terrorism. (Oct 2001)

I think he's a very good pick. I'm a Republican but sick and tired of the gop and their fascination with with spreading democracy in the desert. Hopefully the Dems and Reyes can keep us out of any more wars until Bush is gone.

Ah, how much the wording can affect the perceptions... Case in point:
[[ Voted NO on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005) ]]
This means he voted no on the Real ID Act, correct? So, it should be noted, did many Republicans, including some good solid conservatives. The Real ID Act was a travesty, a simpleminded piece of dreck that required drivers' licenses to contain personal information but did not require that it be encrypted. It will make ID theft and forgery easier, not harder.

Mark,
So, curiosity question: What if we get hit again like we did on 9/11? Or even something close to that.. What do you think the Dems and Reyes should do? This is just a simple question - not looking to engage in war here.

I hear the blue dogs are barking and Nancy just woke up and heard them. Reyes is a good pick from a pretty shabby pool of possibilities actually.
Phoenix, why they would launch a few cruise missiles at Christmas Nativity scenes, call it a victory, immediately surrender, scratch themselves just enough to draw blood and put in for medals. What would you expect.

"...cruise missiles at Christmas Nativity scenes..."
haha... I can't top that at the moment..

"What if we get hit again like we did on 9/11? Or even something close to that.. What do you think the Dems and Reyes should do?"
I think they should take a page from Bush's book and find some god-forsaken country that had nothing to do with the attack and advocate that we go invade 'em.

Not Mark,
But that's not a plan. You just said you'd only 'advocate' for invasion. Would you actually go into action or just talk about it?
Man. It sure would be nice if we could FIND a 'god-forsaken' country. We might not have to blow it off the planet.

I think it was really important that the bombing stop. I just saw this video made by The Experience. Check it out and show your readers! http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/2410
