Pol Wants O'Donnell Apology Amid Rumor She's Leaving The View

Update: More via Michelle, including a Vent here. Po' po', Rosie! ; )

City Councilman John Liu (D-Queens) is calling for an apology from View's new slightly twisted diva, Rosie O'Donnell. And he's not happy with Barbara Walters, either. Now rumors are starting to surface that Rosie may actually leave the View.

Michelle Malkin blogged about Rosie's mocking Asian-Americans. Given that Rosie is so quick to judge, recently accusing Kelly Ripa of being homophobic, you'd think she would be sensitive to the feelings of others. But apparently that isn't the case. Her "people" issued an "unapologetic" statement telling Asians to "lighten up."

I could think of a way Rosie might lighten up, but I imagine I'd be accused of bashing her for her weight. The only thing larger than her waist, seems to be her mouth when she feels gays are being maligned. That might be fine if she had the same almost hyper-concern for others, obviously she doesn't.

A city councilman is demanding that Rosie O'Donnell be held accountable for comments she made on ABC's "The View" last week that he said offended Asian-Americans.
O'Donnell set off a firestorm when she mocked Chinese broadcasters commenting on Danny DeVito's drunken Nov. 29 performance on "The View."

"The fact is that it's news all over the world. You know, you can imagine in China it's like, 'Ching chong, ching chong, Danny DeVito, ching chong chong chong chong, drunk, 'The View,' ching chong.'"

O'Donnell's imitation was followed by laughter from her co-hosts and a loud "gong" that producers threw in.

City Councilman John Liu (D-Queens) has written a letter to Barbara Walters, co-executive producer and co-host of "The View," blasting O'Donnell.

"Her caricature of the Chinese language hits a raw nerve in our community," Liu wrote.

Liu admonished Walters for sitting by and not scolding O'Donnell for making the "derogatory remarks" that "have consequences beyond the stupidity of the person who made them."

"What will you do to hold yourself and those who host the program accountable for such offensive remarks?" Liu asked Walters.

Don't expect much to happen given her being credited with boosting ratings for the view.

Isnt that what liberals like to say? We have great respect for Michelle Malkin. While our viewpoints are rarely at odds, we savor Michelles strong and passionate perspectives on nearly every issue and link to her almost daily. (Unfortuna... [Read More]

Why would someone like Rosie boost veiwers on "The View".
First Rosie had a core of hardliners that loved her from her other show. The View had a fixed viewership. When Rosie joined The View, her hard core followers tuned in. Voila, more viewers for the View. But what will happen in the long term. The View will end up with just Rosie's hard core viewers, because other people don't like her crap and tune out. Long term for the View, less viewers. Cut losses now and dump her.

and this all started because dopey De Vito was making fun of the way Bush talks-meanwhile he's slurring his words and Rosie is insulting Asians-talk about glass houses and hypocrites.

Rosie would absolutely LOVE to be asked to resign from "The View"! Then she would run around saying,

"This is just persecution because I'm a gay. I was trying to use my influence to wake America up to their hate-mongering of gay people, but alas America turned their backs on me because the Bush admin told them to".

Mark my words... You will be hearing this whining on everything from Oprah to Letterman and back again if she gets kicked-off "The View".

ALMOST makes me homesick for Star, and THAT's saying something!!

please please please tell me Rosie is going to leave the show- I don't call many people hogs- but sorry- gotta take a stand on this one and apply it to her- maybe she can team up with Keith Olberman or Chris Matthews or something and they can have cutsie little pity parties together- But assaulting people with her tripe so early in the morning is inhumane

Variety says she's staying put at the View. The View's ratings have increased 69% since Rosie joined the gang. She might be obnoxious, but she's great for ratings, and that's all that matters in TV.

Can't stand Rosie O'Donnell. She's gotten worse with time. Reminds me
of Rosanne Barr. I always thought Barbara Walters was an intelligent
woman until she hired Rosie. Big mistake. I never watch it anymore.

There goes Dan Riehl again, obsessing over pretty white girls!

; )

Cordially...

I don't mean to be rude, but anyone who watches any of that shit on the tube from 9 am to 3 pm is brain dead. I was sick one day and my wife had the tube on. Mind numbing stupidity. They let these people vote? Give me that ole time property owning requirement, like the folks who started the country demanded. These shows make professional wrestling look like serious commentary.

Please don't say that. The last thing I want in my head is an image of Rosie in a wrestling get up!

I dunno, though. Doesn't this sort of fall under the category of, "if you don't like it, don't watch?

We've gotten so out of hand with our faux outrage over every little perceived slight. Rosie O'donut is clearly a douche-bag of epic proportions (literally). But people know that going in. I suspect the put her ON the view just to give it a little edginess, beyond a couple of demure hens cackling over tea.

Maybe Rosie should pay reparations, or attend sensitivity classes!?

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah, THIS!

and Rosie has no room to talk, literally. For someone who is so inyourface about her gay pride issues, then she thinks her Asian mimic is funny? "ching chong"? Wasn't that a racist style jump rope rhyme back in the 40's?

Leaving The View?
Ohhhhh, Number One make it so!!!

kermpermanx, on occasion I get sick and I'm home from work. By noon I was ready to take a bat to the tv.

What population is out there that they are marketing to???

Scary. Very scary.

I'm impressed that Michelle Malkin defended the anti-Rosie-ites. Michelle gets it.

Who are they marketing to? What is their target demographic?

Morons, my good man... Absolute morons...

I can imagine a conversation between me and Rosie...

Me: "I don't like you at all..."

Rosie: "You homophobe! How dare you attack my lifestyle! Don't you oppress me!"

Me: "First off, you have a high-paying spot on a well-rated day-time talk show. I'm not certain, but I don't think I'm oppressing you in the slightest. You have a camera in your face for whatever you want the world to hear, whenever you wish it. Second, I said nothing about you being gay, and thus am not attacking your lifestyle. I don't care, and would in fact REALLY rather not think about you having sex with anyone, as it makes me want to vomit a little in my mouth. Third, I didn't say anything about disliking gay people. I said I don't like YOU. YOU are the person I dislike. I didn't mention anyone else. YOU are a hypocritical cretin, and if the world would ignore you, the level of public debate would raise a fair bit in this country..."

She would then snap, punch me, and likely attempt to devour me...

Rosie, you were first made to look like a moron by TOM SELECK of all people, and you have actually managed to make yourself look even more foolish.

Way to go...
