And quick. It's about time.
Iraq's highest appeals court on Tuesday upheld Saddam Hussein's death sentence and said he must be hanged within 30 days for the killing of 148 Shiites in the central city of Dujail.
The sentence "must be implemented within 30 days," chief judge Aref Shahin said. "From tomorrow, any day could be the day of implementation."
I don't believe the willingness to allow this thing to drag on as long as it has served the greater good in Iraq. Hopefully it is close to finished.
No doubt this will cause an increase in violence, particularly by the Syrian backed Baathists. Pity we can't hang a few of them in the process. Though I suspect if they ramp up their efforts, more of them will die than usual in the next month, or two.
All of the groups fueling the sectarian violence need to be dealt with. Let's hope Iraq and US forces are able to counter effectively.

I'm not a fan of fake-justice or sham-trials. They should have turned him over to the Hague or dragged him behind the barn and put a bullet in his head the day he was captured. This complete farce of a 'trial' was pathetic.

I agree Sgt York.....should have been quicker.

Turn him over to the Hague so he could die of old age? That's justice.
But I'd go for it if they played Chinese restaurant music around him 24 hours a day for the rest of his life.

Expand on this. In what way? No more farcical than the O.J. trial IMO.

Well, maybe a little more farcical, PA. I don't think attorneys were routinely shot dead during OJ's trial. Typical American 'cool' - we made celebrities out of them.
I daresay, from what little we've seen of Saddam's trial, it was done to the letter of the law. They would be fools to do otherwise.
