A hot new Hip Hop fad. See story and YouTube below. I suspect the number of dead will be growing, especially among the youngest.
MODESTO, Calif. (AP) -- "Ghost riding the whip" - a stunt in which a driver gets out of his car and dances around and on top of the slowly moving vehicle to a thumping hip-hop beat - has gotten at least two people killed, led to numerous injuries and alarmed police on the West Coast and beyond.
A fad among devotees of a West Coast strain of hip-hop music called "hyphy," the stunt has been celebrated in song and performed in numerous homemade videos posted on YouTube.
"It did not take Einstein to look at this thing and say this was a recipe for disaster," said Pete Smith, a police spokesman in Stockton. "We could see the potential for great injury or death.

Two kids were riding the top of a railroad car, got knocked off and the parents sued the railroad for not having barriers to block potential rail car riders. Believe it or not, the judge found on behalf of the kids and their parents. The railroad said it would appeal, naturally.

This will fade. Was it the movie, "Train Spotters" ? that got kids to lie down in traffic. A few got squashed and the fun challenge ended.
Nice story, Hobo. That kind of 'justice' burns me up. The train company ought to sue the parents for failing to teach their kids not to ride on the top of trains.
What kind of logic, lack of thinking, makes one compare experienced mountain climbers caught in a bad storm to idiot teenagers running around a moving car? jeeeeeeeeez. Talk about morons and cleaning out the gene pool.

I think the movie was the program that got people to lie down in traffic, train spotters was the one that scared everyone about heroine. I am a little rusty on my 90's movies but I think that is how it worked.
BTW, I saw 3 girls dancing on the roof of their hummer while stuck in traffic on I 70, I must be gettin old I did not know about this latest fad.

Going up the mountain this time of year was retarded. Going up light on gear and comms was fatal. Mother nature doesn't offer those with poor judgment any mulligans.
