Several bloggers will be doing email interviews for the new Tom Delay blog. Today is my turn. Basically, I share some thoughts on what I think of the blogosphere. Below is just an excerpt, you can read it all here.
What is the future of the conservative blog movement?
Uncertain, at best. If the Left blogosphere is over-rated, the Right side is even more so. Without disparaging a single blogger, it needs to be noted by someone that many blogs thought of as Conservative blogs may not really be so. While Michelle Malkin and Powerline certainly are, if you look at Instapundit and Little Green Footballs, I doubt you would classify them as conservative - yet, they are two considered to be among the biggest "conservative" blogs.
Whether lgf is or isn't, is not for me to say, but Instapundit is a self described Libertarian and would likely be at odds with many Conservatives on certain issues. LGF as a blog, on the other hand, tends to be almost apolitical beyond the Global War on Terror. Some other large so-called "conservative" bloggers I know confess to being mostly apolitical or moderate except for their support for the GWOT. That has been the glue holding much of the Right blogosphere together.
Frankly, knowing the landscape as I do, I can't even tell you what "the Conservative" blogosphere is, let alone what it might become. In short, the blogosphere models the population pretty well, being comprised of many moderates, along with Conservatives and Liberals, who have been cast as Left or Right based upon their positions on President Bush, fighting terror and the Iraq War.
As currently comprised, the blogosphere as a whole still tends to be pretty responsive, as opposed to proactive. Because, as regards Conservatism, there is no current leader effectively articulating broad conservative ideas, it is difficult to know where Conservatism as a whole is heading in America, let alone the blogosphere - though I remain optimistic.

Well said, Dan.
Both the words 'conservative' and 'liberal' have been hijacked and bastardized so much, they are meaningless.
We need new words. Or maybe not. It's probably a good thing to be one of the 'not-labeled'. It does seem to me, however, that conservatives are more open-minded about their views and willingness to embrace other views than the current 'liberal' designation. (I'm not talking about the far-right conservatives.)
All in all, defining your political leanings based on hatred of a president or a lack of comprehension about the global war on terror is idiocy. It's shallow thinking, narrowed intellect, and the source for immense harm to our country if it prevails. Take the wide view and revisit your place in the world and get a grip that character means a hell of a lot more than any ridiculous political label.

Phoenix,
You are bore. A pedant and an idiot.

Oh god. A pedant? Please take it back. Did you mean to say 'whore' instead of 'bore'?
I don't mean to be a pedant, but always check your spelling.
