Someone's trying to push Dean out at the DNC? That seems fairly obvious to me, knowing what we do about the competing Democrat camps. Carville's name being invoked makes it all the more obvious. The Clintons are the force in Democrat politics and they don't want Dean with his hands on the purse strings at the DNC. And they certainly don't want him making waves, or pulling the DNC further Left.
Not just because he might be a competitor, which is doubtful - but they will want their guy, whomever that might be, to help them solidify support around the country. With Dean at the DNC they aren't wired in and can't control the money going out, let alone coming in.
Harold Ford would be perfect, not just for fund raising, but he's young and would be perfect for them to take under their wing, plugging him into their significant network. Access like that comes once in a lifetime, if at all, he'd be foolish to turn it down.
Some big name Democrats want to oust DNC Chairman Howard Dean, arguing that his stubborn commitment to the 50-state strategy and his stinginess with funds for House races cost the Democrats several pickup opportunities.
The candidate being floated to replace Dean? Harold Ford.
Says James Carville, one of the anti-Deaniacs, "Suppose Harold Ford became chairman of the DNC?

Good advice! We're glad you're looking out for the DNC's welfare with no ulterior motives of any kind.

Gotta throw the nutroots overboard if this election's gains are to be consolidated in a Dem presidential win in 08'.
When those people open their mouths, democrats lose.
