Heh! Big surprise. Always nice to see old friends in the news. Unfortunately, I had a tip about the bit re Crime Stoppers. Sad to see it go that way. Asshole.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A convicted felon-turned-philanthropist who has offered reward money in several high-profile cases was arrested on a gun charge, authorities said Thursday.
Federal agents found a loaded handgun Wednesday in Joe Mammana's nightstand, according to an arrest warrant.
FBI and IRS agents were searching Mammana's suburban Philadelphia home for evidence of mail and wire fraud, authorities said.
There was no telephone listing for Mammana. Messages left at his office and with his attorney were not immediately returned.
Mammana, who owns a Pennsylvania egg farm, offered $250,000 last year in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba.But he has his own lengthy rap sheet that includes aggravated assault, larceny and narcotics violations, felony convictions that make it illegal for him to have a gun. He was in federal custody pending a hearing scheduled for Friday.
Last week, the head of a crime stoppers group in central Ohio who had sued Mammana said he was beaten by a baseball bat-wielding attacker who told him to drop the suit.
Central Ohio Crime Stoppers sued Mammana on Nov. 15 seeking $131,000 the group said he had pledged as a reward. Mammana said the group forged his name on a contract and denied involvement in the bat attack on Kevin Miles.

just goes to show ya, you can't trust people with funny-sounding names.

Hey Phoenix...are you stil having problems? I hope you are at least enjoying your vacation!
Joe is an asshole. I have had the good fortune in my life to meet many a person who has tured their life around for the better. Although I don't know Joe, he still appears to be a drug addicted fool, if only in actions. Money he may have, but that does not make him a better person. The assholes who follow him and accept his invitations of company are just as guilty, at being jerk offs.

Cindi,
Vacation? Glad I didn't pay for this one. This has been a mis'ry. I'm on some sneak 'n spy thing from the Net that lets me override whatever the problem is. Depending on how much it costs to repair this glitch, I may just get a new computer. I have managed to get through a foot-tall stack of news magazines, though.
P.S. The first thing I pack for a vacation is a computer. :}

Joe Mammana...one of many hero's of Beth Twitty. She certainly has aligned herself with questionable characters, in her quest to "find" answers to her daughter's disappearance, hasn't she? Maybe on cutting a deal with the FEDS, Joe will have the FEDS look into possible money laundering of the NATALEE SEARCH trust funds/foundations, AmSouth bank and those connections with the money launderer's Mansur family of Aruba...
Let the domino's start falling...
"If any of this comes out, WE will all go down, including NATALEE.........
