Suppose that after the election the Senate ends up 50-D, 49-R, and Lieberman. What then? I'm not hoping for that outcome, but it would be amusing to watch.

Well, having seen Lamont's new commercial, the black-and-white mini-drama entitled "Mr. Lamont Goes To Washington", I think we have reason to judge his sanity as well as his fitness for office.

As you might guess, it's a tacky bit of '40's motion picture thievery featuring Lamont viewed from floor level in an imaginary Senate. He towers over the assembled clowns in the galleries, and (though I had it muted) delivers some prattle, probably, about the wonders of Ned Lamont.

Just awful. The man's an idiot.

Rhod,

Just reading your description of the ad embarrasses me.....

I always wonder when I watch candidates in action, and I keep going to the thought: What is it in their mind that makes them think they can lead. I'm not talking about natural-born leaders: They do exist. I think it is part of the 'arrogance' Dan mentioned above. Or narcissicism unrequited. (That might be an oxymoron. Maybe not considering Narcissus could never stop looking in the mirror.)

The test of authentic leadership is watching how a leader acts under pressure. It's not about talk or charm or likability. It's about trust and not betraying the values and goals the leader professes. Hmmm.... makes me think of BUSH.
