So, in your view Kerry is a lousy politician because he has said several really stupid things in the last few years? I see no reason to argue with that, I would never vote for him.

So what do you think of President Bush, who is the subject of multiple books made up entirely of hundreds of his dumbest quotes? And what about Republican Reps Sherwood, Sweeney and Gibbons, who are accused of beating up mistress, wife and waitress respectively? You seem to take glee in Democratic foibles while turning a blind eye to your own party's criminal behavior, Dan. Double standard, much?

I'll admit the president does make quite a few verbal gaffes - most of which are actually pretty hilarious. BUT, he is never - not ever - insulting, demeaning, elitist or pompous. Something that cannot honestly be said for Kerry. Kerry speaks perfect English, doesn't he? Listen to what he says - do you hear the meaning and intent behind the perfectly spoken sentences?

As for corruption and criminal behavior, there is plenty to go around in both parties. I personally believe the Democrats lead the market in that arena, but I will not argue the point that it does exist in both parties.

Now, about the issues: Kerry says we are being distracted from the real issue, which is Bush's failed policy in Iraq. So tell me, what IS the Democratic plan for Iraq? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Forget verbal gaffes. The best thing about Bush is that he doesn't give a damn about image and is subsequently able to stay focused on what is important - his job. His job is to protect this country.

And yes, KayCee, he doesn't stoop to say demeaning things about his detractors. That says something about his character.

Since Bush scored better than Kerry did in school, he could use this excuse to explain away the horrible statement he made on Monday, but will he?

Bush would never belittle the troops; it's become second nature to Kerry. I honestly believe he(Kerry) thinks because he was a Vietnam vet, he has a green-light to stomp on the troops' feelings at his whimsy--and he does quite often.

Sad.............

"So tell me, what IS the Democratic plan for Iraq? I can't seem to find it anywhere..."

There is no universal Democratic plan for Iraq. Iraq is such a complete mess that no one can think of a solution that doesn't involve decades of civil war. Various Democrats have different ways of addressing this, none of them good, all of them better than the administration strategy of hoping things get better magically. The optimal strategy would be to use a time machine to go back and undo our invasion and occupation that fucked things up so badly in the first place, but I don't see that happening.

"The optimal strategy would be to use a time machine to go back and undo our invasion and occupation that fucked things up so badly in the first place,..."

Well, yeah. But that would take the democrats working in the same bipartisan manner they worked when they voted to go to war.

If you're trying to say that the majority of Democrats in Congress also voted to authorize the fucked up war, I agree completely that they too are responsible for the mess. I have never claimed to have much respect for finger-in-the-wind politicians like Kerry and Clinton.

I believe the Democrats that voted to go to war were lied to just like we were. They were shown false intelligence.

They're laying the groundwork to blame the Democratic Party and the liberals for THEIR failure in Iraq.

Maybe, but I don't think people are stupid enough to believe it. Democrats in Congress who authorized it are just as responsible for the beginning of the war in my eyes as Republicans who voted for it, but that is still a tiny fraction of the responsibility the administration has. It is clear to everyone that this is Bush's war, he has taken full credit for it too many times for any reasonable person to believe otherwise, and no amount of lame blame-placing is ever going to change that.

"but I don't think people are stupid enough to believe it"

Look at where you are. Sure Democrats were intimidated and lied to. Some played politics (You can't run for President if you voted against a popular war). Bush got every benefit of the doubt until it became evident that he was truly full of shit.
