I imagine this will dominate the news cycle this week, barring any unexpected developments:
Nov. 26, 2006 — President Bush heads to the Middle East this week for what some are calling a "crisis" summit on Iraq — as a key U.S. ally in the region, King Abdullah of Jordan, warns that the future of the entire region hangs in the balance.
George Will seems to think the Iraqi government doesn't matter too much:
"The president of the United States is going to spend, what, two days with this fiction — the fiction of an Iraqi government?" George Will said on "This Week."
Crittenden thinks only two of the three so called civil wars matter.
I tend to put less emphasis on the Palestinian issue, as well. There is no solution so long as many Palestinians want nothing more than the destruction of Israel. The plight of the Palestinians has been little more than a convenient tool for the Arab world over the years, none of those states wanting the Palestinians within their borders, by the way. Someone needs to tell them to chill out and get used to things as they are until they change their ways and goals.
