This somewhat ticks me off.
Saudi Arabia Will Protect Sunnis if the U.S. Leaves
It ticks me off because the Saudis should be there already, not simply to protect Sunnis, but to help stabilize Iraq. They could still do a great deal even if it was only in training areas, as opposed to street patrols. I realize they have been co-operating with the US to some degree. But on the face of it, it seems they could have done more.
Hopefully the purpose of Cheney's trip was to gain more Saudi support, not in the event America leaves, but as part of an effort to make things work while we remain.
And as for these idiots, who cares? their actions disgust me on many levels.
BAGHDAD, Nov. 29 -- A bloc of Iraqi lawmakers and cabinet ministers allied with militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr launched a boycott of their government duties Wednesday to protest Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's decision to attend a summit in Jordan with President Bush.
If America hadn't intervened, the ungrateful bastards would still be a clueless, oppressed majority living under Saddam's rule. Now they want to dis us and side with Iran? Screw them, turn Saudi Arabia's petrol dollars loose on the lot of them and send them to hell. They are nothing but proxies for Iran at this point.
Maliki better choose a side when he meets with Bush and he better choose it well. I don't think Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others are going to sit by and allow Iran to swallow Iraq. The foolish shi'ites might be in for shock if America pulls back. They could easily end up getting their dumb asses kicked, once again.

If America hadn't intervened the first time, Saddam would never have been in power.
When they don't ask, we intervene and help install a madman.
When they do ask, we don't intervene and let the madman murder them.
When they don't ask, we invade and allow chaos and agony to spread.
The Iraqi's have nothing to be grateful for. They didn't ask for shock and awe. They didn't ask for "Stuff Happens". They didn't ask to allow an insurgency to fester because it would look bad politically to call it an insurgency. They didn't ask for foreign Jihadists to come across the borders. They didn't ask for jobs rebuilding their own country to go to White Christian Americans making more in a week then would in a year. They didn't ask for no electricity, running water, and the opportunity to die by the hundreds daily for freedom. They didn't ask for a civil war to explode because the same assholes who couldn't find it within themselves to say "insurgency" have the same trouble saying "civil war" And they didn't ask for cowardly bloggers who would never ever ever ever dare serve or even step foot inside the country they are so willingly clueless about to shit on them for not being grateful.
I will help raise money for you to go to Iraq, Dan, for one week; Providing you stay outside the Green Zone for 3 of the seven days you are there.
Come on. One week.

"If America hadn't intervened the first time, Saddam would never have been in power."
Grand total historical US military sales to Saddam came to about $250M. If you want to call that an "intervention" to save him, I'm afraid we're very far down on the list of "intervener's".
So far down in fact, that "notorious world arms supplier", BRAZIL supplied him with more "intervention" than we did.
The French of course are the #2 "intervener" with billions in Iraq weapons sales over the years. The Russians are #1.

Oh, we plan on sending the Lebanese about $200M worth of military gear.

Our support kept him in power for 20 years. Shall I refer you to "the handshake"?
it doesn't take billions of dollars to keep a despot in power.
Come on, Dan. See what glorious victory in Iraq is. Free paid trip to Baghdad. Money, mouth.
