While many, including me, first snickered at this Blotter piece mentioning Harry Reid and Abramoff - ultimately, I think it spells bad news for the people. Look at the dynamics.

Recent stories have also mentioned the White House and Karl Rove. This is a message to all the inside the Beltway Boys ... Abramoff is going to do some short, easy time and walk. And no one in DC is going to want to wake this puppy up.
Insiders will rationalize it as "for the good of the country" that this be allowed to drop. There isn't a single power center in Washington that will want to move it forward.
