Here I was afraid that looking at women in the trendy new provocative Halloween Costumes catching on made me something of a male chauvinist.
Years of political correctness have told me that it's simply indecent for a true gentleman to ogle women, with, or without provocative clothing.
Now, thanks to the New York Times, I learn that there's nothing wrong with it at all. I'm simply empowering women as they engage in a form of sartorial humor in an effort to build their self-confidence.
Perhaps, say some scholars, it could even be good. Donning one of the many girlish costumes that sexualize classic characters from books, including “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” “Cinderella” and “The Wizard of Oz,” can be campy, female sartorial humor, said Professor Gill. It can be a way to embrace the fictional characters women loved as children while simultaneously taking a swipe at them, she said. “The humor gives you a sense of power and confidence that just being sexy doesn’t,” she said.
Though there is one caveat to that - unfortunately I think most of the females wearing these costumes are probably somewhere between the age of 12 - 16 and may not quite be motivated by taking down Cinderella to empower themselves.
But for the guys who want to do their part to empower women, just click the link for the largest and sleaziest shot of all. The, I assume, adult model has this look in her eyes that tells me she's just begging to be empowered, somehow.

"...begging to be empowered..."?

That witch is there. And she eats power for lunch.......now pass your Twinkie over to her...

I like the costumes but what do they have to do with Halloween? They are not scary.

Nova,
Neither are all the little princesses and fairies and tiny angels that come Trick-or-Treating to my house each Halloween.

Phoenix: Thanks for your reply. It is exactly what my wife said in response to my telling her about this story.
