Update: Cassandra at Villainous Company has a solid piece on the issue of Iraq.
Dick Army has a piece for Republicans today - Where We Went Wrong. He makes some very good observations, but it might be nice if we focus on the upcoming election and save the naval gazing for after wards. Whatever the result, there'll be plenty of time then.
Jules Crittenden takes it a notch higher than that, calling for Cheney and Rumsfeld to go with Rice taking the VP slot. The Rice move is un-democratic and, frankly, I'm far from convinced she isn't over-rated. If she's that good and wants it, she should earn a spot in the next Presidential derby by campaigning just like everyone else.
While it's unclear to me how much, if any of the problems in Iraq are chiefly Rumsfeld's fault, in my opinion a pre-election move now is a bad idea. I'll add that I won't be at all surprised to see him go by Jan 1, as Jules suggests. If I hear one more time about his wearing a pedometer I'm going to hurl.
