via the AP: Top US general says Rumsfeld is inspired by God
MIAMI (AFP) - The top US general defended the leadership of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, saying it is inspired by God.
"He leads in a way that the good Lord tells him is best for our country," said Marine General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Rumsfeld is "a man whose patriotism focus, energy, drive, is exceeded by no one else I know ... quite simply, he works harder than anybody else in our building," Pace said at a ceremony at the Southern Command (Southcom) in Miami.
I'll leave whether or not Rumsfeld should or shouldn't go for another day. But how the hell in the nation of Washington, Lincoln, and, dare I say, even a President Carter, this qualifies as news, is either beyond the pale, or a sign of how much we've come undone.

This qualifies as news because the corporate media will use every device it thinks will help those clowns in Bush's administration.

It's news because it says a top General says that Rumsfeld hears God's voice directly. You don't find that frightening?

You don't find that frightening?
I'll have to get back to you, I have the Lord on hold right now, sorry.

Oh, sorry, Dan.....He was talking with me. I was telling Him to keep out of it.

Religion... it hurts so much more than it helps. And since ancient times it has given idiots like these an excuse to hide behind: "No, it wasn't me that decided on this disastrous course of action, it was God/Allah/Wodan/Zeus/the fire god. So it must be a good idea after all, we're just not seeing the divine strategy yet".
Peter Pace should be sacked for this comment, but of course in the current administration he will probably get another medal for his brownnosing efforts.
