Kerry Apology Doesn't Wash
Update: Senator Frist Responds here. Excerpt below, like Frist, we shouldn't allow Kerry to get off the hook this time. He already called our troops terrorists, Murtha called them murderers - it's time to hold the Democrat Party to account. The best way to do that is by voting against them next week.
While America’s servicemen and women are fighting and dying against our adversaries in the global War on Terror, John Kerry has the gall to criticize their intelligence, their education, and their motivation for service. His comments represent the absolute worst in Democrat scare tactics and present a grave insult to our all-volunteer Armed Forces.
Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
Unfortunately for Kerry, as followers of the 2004 campaign will recall, Bush was as good as, and actually a slightly better student than John "D Student" Kerry. See below. Even if he weren't lying, we're to assume an idiot who can't keep from bungling a joke would do any better with Iraq? Hot Air has video of Kerry bumbling and stumbling, knocking over the mic during his non-apology. Maybe he should have worn his lucky hat.
President George Bush's academic record was almost identical to Senator John Kerry's at university, despite the depiction of Kerry as the more intellectual during the 2004 presidential campaign.
Records released to the Boston Globe show that Kerry's grades at Yale University averaged 76, while Bush, who also attended Yale, averaged 77.
Under the grade system at the time, both marks equate to a C. Kerry's score seems to have been dragged down during his first year, when he got four Ds out of 10 results.
However in subsequent years, his marks improved dramatically and, in the final year, he averaged 81 (a B grade).
Kerry has previously admitted that he spent more of his energies on learning to fly than studying and told the Boston Globe that, "I always told my dad that D stood for distinction."
Bush's results appear to counter the image portrayed of him in the media as being intellectually inferior. Cartoon sketches, films and books like Stupid White Men, by Michael Moore, have all picked on his supposed dimness, pointing to his at times slow speaking style and use of mid-American vernacular.

Kerry was being perfectly truthful in his explanation, and the truth is much worse than a random comment about troops or Presidents. Kerry is simply too slow-witted and sophomoric to articulate any issue clearly...so any explanation of his meanings, to him, is probably true to the extent that a psychotic who thinks of himself as Napolean is also telling the truth. The things that churn in Kerry's head end up churning his rhetoric, but he's simply too stupid to know it.
I've been watching this asshole since 1972. He's a local boy, the thin end of the Winthrop line who cadged a cheap private school education and ended up as a polished kidney stone at the bottom of the Eastern Mass political cess pool. Now's he's a little closer to the foam on top, but he is simply not intelligent; his nuanced approach to issues is a screen for a lack of depth, a lack of insight, and a lack of brains.
He prides himself on his droll cleverness, but his arrogance, solipsism and stupidity prevent him from recognizing how trite, confused and crude his thoughts really are. The man's a pathetic lightweight. Who gives a shit what John Kerry thinks of anything? The man's an idiot.

By the way, Dan. Time to bring back the T-Rex and Kerry for the day.

I just got this statement from No One: "I do not accept the apology from John Kerry as I was never in the military. I tried to get in but I failed the mental tests. I just wasn't smart enough."

You too, Jaime, seem to have an excess of labored cleverness like Kerry.
Point one, Jaime...I'm not outraged that Kerry said "something dumb". Kerry isn't worth the energy consumed by outrage, but Kerry is news, whether you like it or not. He's simply an oily nitwit who represents the degenerate voting behaviors of northeastern liberals. And for the record, I was one of those barbarians Kerry described in Vietnam.
Point two, is that I have two sons in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. I am not insulted by Kerry's (possible) scorn for them, nor do they want Kerry's sympathies or concern. The issues at hand are larger than John Kerry's shallow intellectual capacity, and the people he (possibly) scorns are better than he in every way. I doubt they're bothered by Kerry's remarks.
Dozens of people died in Iraq, killed in sectarian violence. True. Explain it, if you can.

Rhod,
Really good comment. That's the best usage of 'solipsism' I've seen, and you have it down.....except you didn't mention that this frothing mass of vascular detritus sees everyone else as children of lesser gods.
Here is a great quotation from R.H. Heinlein using 'solipsism' I thought you might like. (Your great usage made me think of it and its applicability to this man....)
"Solipsism and pantheism. Together they explain ANYTHING. Cancel out any inconvenient fact, reconcile all theories, include any facts or delusions you like. But it's all cotton candy, all taste and no substance - as unsatisfactory as solving a story by saying - "and then the little boy fell out of bed and woke up."

Phoenix:
Thank you very much...we should talk separately so Jaime doesn't feel left out, though.
Yeah, Kerry's particular problem is complicated by its very simplicity. He's a posturing pinhead, but doesn't know it, which lends some sort of validity to his complaints about the complaints about him. He's kind of a walking Escher print. Trite and two dimensional, but compelling at the same time.
Thanks for the Heinlein material....now here's one from Orwell, about Baldwin, but applicable to Kerry..."you couldn't dignify him with the name of stuffed shirt. He was simply a hole in the air".

john kerry is now saying it was a joke toward the president. If it was a joke toward the president he should have used better words. I dont believe it was against the President because Kerry knows president Bush went to college as well as cheney and the rest of the Bush cabinet. If Kerry is that stupid he should keep his mouth shut.

after listening to john kerry's speeches and press conferences (in full, not just little bits on the news), i decided the man wasn't to bright.
