It is amazing to see so many political races so close, or tilting Dem, when four simple questions should make it clear who should win this coming election.
1) Do you support measures, including a fence, which genuinely restrict illegal immigration and seriously enforcing a system that allows only prudent legal immigration into the country?
2) Do you support the monitoring of potential terrorist communications within and outside of the United States as is currently done under the Bush administration?
3) Do you pledge to not increase taxes and make the Bush tax cuts permanent?
4) Do you agree that we should interrogate enemy combatants in the War on Terror as forcefully as deemed appropriate by intelligence officials in order to prevent additional terrorist attacks?
Elevating those questions into the national discourse just a few weeks before the coming election should make it clear to most which party accurately portrays the desires of the majority of Americans.
But the reformers who went to Washington in 1994 have strayed so far from their initial goals, not only do they seem unable to raise those questions, it's unclear if people would even believe their own answers if they did. And with the media deliberately fixated on one small scandal without much National import, it's all the more difficult to raise issues that matter.
I don't believe things are decided, though the Dems and the media are working hard to portray that as the case. And I anticipate any potential Dem majority to be modest, at best. But if that comes to pass, this will not be an election the Dems won. Unfortunately, it will be an election the Republicans lost ... and deservedly so.
To steal a theme from Einstein discussing potential World Wars 3 and 4, I don't know what will win the coming election, but the party advocating term limits would be a lock in the next one. That's for sure.
What has transpired since 1994 is the greatest argument for term limits this country has ever seen. Without them, no matter who gets sent to Washington in November, it should be obvious to everyone by now that Washington will win.

I think the Repulican party needs to learn to fight back. Republicans have always been such mild mannered decent people that it is hard for them to understand such evil, brutal, hateful behavior and being the kind of people we are it's hard to have to stoop to their level, but I think the time has come to give it back to them but in a tasteful manner if at all possible. To say nothing makes them look weak even though we know that they are not. PLEASE FIGHT BACK ALL YOU REPUBLICANS. ITS ALL THE DEMOCRAT KNOW. SHOW THEM HOW ITS DONE AND DO IT SOON. TIME IS RUNNING OUT !

Hah - nice wedge issues. They won't work. People care about Iraq and the GOP's hypocrisy (Foley). People are tired of being afraid, your techniques won't work anymore.

1) Do you support measures, including a fence, which genuinely restrict illegal immigration and seriously enforcing a system that allows only prudent legal immigration into the country?
YES. The Republicans have been in power for six plus years, they haven't done jack on this issue.
2) Do you support the monitoring of potential terrorist communications within and outside of the United States as is currently done under the Bush administration?
I support monitoring of actual potential terrorist communications conducted within the scope of the law, not the wholesale monitoring of ALL communications to certain regions without judicial oversight as is currently being done by BushCo.
3) Do you pledge to not increase taxes and make the Bush tax cuts permanent?
YES.
4) Do you agree that we should interrogate enemy combatants in the War on Terror as forcefully as deemed appropriate by intelligence officials in order to prevent additional terrorist attacks?
"Intelligent officials" are not the appropriate group to be determining what is and what is not 'foreceful' enough, I do not support detaining and abusing people when there is no evidence to support the idea of them being guilty of any crime nor do I support the idea of being able to hide this fact..lack of evidence...and convict them on secret evidence that no one is allowed to see or test.
